Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Not seeing much on the Alberta leaders debate.
Certainly some of the inspired readers of the blog have some thoughts on the liberal leader Khan “laying pipe in Brooks”. But then he could’ve been “smoking something he shouldn’t have”.
I am constantly amazed at the media’s lack of discussion during this campaign on:
a) lead now and tides foundation influence on NDP candidates.
b) general failure to mention Notley’s appointment of many anti-pipeline, anti-oil activists to positions of power and influence in Alberta. Nutley does not want to build pipelines.
c) no mention of what new taxes Nutley could bring in. Just follow what members of her party believe in. For example, I predict Nutley will bring in a big ‘levy’ on all SUVs and pickups to be paid as part of vehicle licence renewal. None of the four parties running against Nutley are bringing this up.
d) not much mention of the 100 billion debt plan from Nutley. By the way that debt will be much worse because Nutley is predicting 12 billion a year in royalty revenue in year four if she is re-elected. That’s pretty optimistic.
e) I have not heard any real discussion on what happens in interest rates go up. Many SDA readers will remember interest rates of 15% to 24% from the 1980s when this group of politicians were children or not yet born. I remember lots of people losing their homes and businesses.
Hopefully the four parties running against the NDP will start to mention these items in the remaining days of the campaign.
I was incredibly disappointed Kenney is still drinking the global warming koolaid. His line about wanting to punish the largest CO2 emitters just seals it for me that’s he’s a tinge blue and a whole lot of PC orange
I am ho tge point where i think these are primarily motherhood statements. Same with Ford. If you said you did not believe in it, you would be ridiculed to death, with enviros and the left doubling down. It is like the old “Heil Hitler”. Every one has to comply so you do not signal to your enemies that you are an enemy. What is important is to avoid draconian moves with this– like carbon tax. Only environmental activists and the seriously duped will make a fuss if no action on “carbon” is taken.

Very good point. If you are a politician don’t attack global warming, the media will destroy you.
Instead attack the carbon tax as useless. More people can relate to that.
Also ask people if they believe in their opponents secret plans to promote a carbon free society. For example their plan to impose a tax on SUVs.

Happy Weekend everyone.
A good choice.
The recent political scandals would put even Gilbert and Sullivan to shame.
Nothing like a good scandal … more fodder to write about.
Excellent Byron York podcasts with former Trump attorney John Dowd. York is correct to refer to these conversations as “oral history”. Lengthy but HIGHLY informative.
Mandatory listening on Russia collusion hoax and DOJ/FBI attempted coup d’état:

Also, York’s synopsis:

That was dynamite. Thanks.
Market Commentary: Faux Statesmanship
Over the years, I’ve referred to the “first law of holes.” If you find yourself in a hole, the first requirement is to stop digging. Similarly, I’ve repeatedly noted the long-ago recognized issue with discretionary monetary management: One mistake invariably leads to only bigger mistakes. And I’m fond of reminding readers that “things turn crazy at the end of cycles.” Historic cycle, historic “crazy.” I’ll repeat what I’ve written many times before: From my analytical perspective, things continue to follow the worst-case scenario.

After ten years, I think I finally got one right. You might disagree, but I think the everything bubble has finally popped. It’s so big, however, that it may take some time to fully deflate. I thought about calling this the year of the great deflation, but I knew that would send the wrong message. I’m certainly no deflationist, but as I’ve said in the past, hyperinflation has a lot more in common with deflation than with the common understanding of inflation.
So if you’d like to read “Year of the Head Fake”, it’s up right now at the Speakeasy!

Who is the President of the Republic of the United States of America?

Love, death & robots: Obama snuggles with Merkel, recalls old droning times at VIP gala in Germany
Former US president and smooth-talking drone warfare enthusiast Barack Obama has paid a visit to his old pal Angela Merkel, reminiscing about the good old days and collecting a fat check for a speech at a “leadership conference.”
Merkel looked pleased as punch to see her friend from the pre-Trump era, flashing an unusually genuine smile during their embrace as he left the chancellery. Obama, for his part, called Merkel one of his “favorite partners” during his two terms in office

Great Leader Kim Jung Trudeau continues his taxpayer funded election tour in Toronto. He will be spending the day with his Somali invasion minister and teaching black kids how to play basketball. Strange how none of the media reported on him being heckled all through his speech yesterday.

BRC Racing brought back the 500cc two stroke dirt bike engine for custom installation into KTM, Honda and Kawasaki dirt bikes. BRC designs and builds these state of the art engines in Calgary!! They had another Calgary company 3D print the engine to save six months on production time. They also build 125cc two strokes that produce 50 HP!

“Canada is already warming at twice the global average due to climate change — with dramatic consequences.”
https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2019/04/05/lessons-from-bc-and-alberta-as-four-holdout-provinces-adjust-to-carbon-tax.html
This is a totally silly talking point. Even for those who have been duped by the “global warming” scare, shouldn’t this be good news? Isn’t Canada twice as cold as many other populous places? So, if we are shooting for a global average across the world, you could say at least the warming is going to where it would be most beneficial (or least harmful) even if you are unhappy about the warming generally. Now they will probably try to claim that even if we can do nothing about CO2 on a world scale, our efforts can fix the problem in Canada. Watch for it.
Anyway, not like true — as always, they simply cherry picked the data.
Gee, I didn’t know that temperature changes stopped at national borders. Would they be much less if I head south across the 49th parallel?
For the last two months, I have been watching the 5 or 10 minutes of the CBC National and CtN national news, to get a summary of the latest SNC Lavelin stuff. This, after not seeing these moribund shows for the past 4 or 5 years. I watch the first few minutes in the morning, as repeat programs, give a queezy stomach.
So this morning, I turn on the CBC National, but alas, no news on SNC Lavalin. But Ian Hanomonsing intoned a quick summary of the three lead items, all left-liberal PC items, like that Canada warmed up at twice the rate of the world, the latest in transgender news, and other drivel. So I switched over to national CTV News, and there, at least, the insufferable Lisa Laflamme had, as the lead item, a story about how the 16 grieving families in Humboldt, Saskatchewan are doing, on the eve of the first aniversity of the Humboldt tragedy. As bad as CTV News is, and as bad as Lisa Laflamme is, at least they had their priorities right. The CBC National show on Friday night was simply pure PC propaganda. Perhaps the gender and skin colour of the Humbolt victims were the wrong type for CBC News.
The moment of the crash was at 4:50 pm, Saskatchewan time. The memorial service starts at 4:30 pm Saskatchewan time, or 6:30 Eastern time. It will be shown on CTV News, and perhaps even CBC News.
It Begins: Former UN Under-Secretary-General Calls For One World Currency
Authored by José Antonio Ocampo, formerly United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, via Project Syndicate,
This year, the world commemorates the anniversaries of two key events in the development of the global monetary system. The first is the creation of the International Monetary Fund at the Bretton Woods conference 75 years ago. The second is the advent, 50 years ago, of the Special Drawing Right (SDR), the IMF’s global reserve asset.

Gee i wonder where all this ‘Russia is going to interfere with our next election’ is coming from?
Not her NY Times reporter husband, by any chance?
Feeling the pinch at the pumps yet? This farce called a “price on pollution” is nothing but a tax grab, it’s revenue to fleece the people. The biggest joke of all has to be the pretense of giving it all back plus. How exactly will that work and what’s the point of paying major bucks to operate the scheme? How will that benefit the environment?
It will affect the bottom line for what Trudeau calls the middle class and those working to join it most. It will hurt the economy across the board. Money grab big time.
the real reason for this latest tax grab is to hire more civil servants, 4200 more in the month of march and guess what all will vote liberal.
Cut off the welfare cheques and fire up the dozers.
Members of B.C. First Nation plan new camp to block natural gas pipeline path
The Coastal GasLink pipeline would transport natural gas from northeastern British Columbia to LNG Canada’s export terminal on the coast in Kitimat, B.C.
The company says it has signed agreements with all 20 elected First Nations councils along its path but the hereditary clan chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation say the project has no authority without their approval.

Russian Christian Dad in Sweden has children seized by Swedish Nazi government and the girls fostered out to a Moslem Family. Dad grabs kids and flees to Poland the Nazi’s follow and are stopped by Polish Cops. Bless Poland and good job Dad. http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=60025
At least there is still sanity around.
Decades back I had a cousin who went through a particularly acrimonious divorce. There were kids involved and access issues.
One weekend he got the kids and in a desperate move split for Mexico. He vamoosed. Years later he returned. Nasty.
