Opposition launches protests to oust Maduro;
“We are all here in the same boat, without electricity, without water, without medicines, without gas, and with an uncertain future,” he said. “We’re all immersed in this crisis except the usurper.”

If Venezuelans haven’t figured it out by now, protests will not oust Maduro. Only his eventual capture, trial and execution will send the proper message. He is a dictator and will remain in power as long as he can if he is unopposed.
Maduro needs to Ceaucescoooed !
CBCNW this morning made a point about U.S. Trump administration against the newly re-elected Maduro government.
CBCNW inferred VPOTUS was siding with the radical protesters.
CBCNW inferred it was only the USA against Maduro.
CBCNW failed to mention Trudeau government denounced the election.
CBCNW avoided telling it’s viewers that other governments have denounced the election.
CBCNW avoided describing Maduro government as “Socialist”.
CBCNW avoided describing Maduro government as “Leftwing” or even “Far Leftwing”.
CBCNW avoided describing Maduro government as a “Dictatorship”.
CBCNW avoided discussing lack of food and utilities.
They failed to mention that REMOVING Maduro… by any means necessary … would be the GREATEST hunanitarian Act in this young century! That whoever removed the despot Fascist/Socialist Ruler would win the Nobel Peace Prize!
FREE Venezuela Now!!!
How the hell do you know what CBC is saying about anything? …. are you actually watching and listening to CBC?
If so …. why?
Because “Know your enemy.”
Maybe Carl likes fat ugly chicks.
Yeah,460,000 viewers watch CBC news daily, so just pretend they don’t exist? Always know what the Enemy is saying, thinking, doing, burying your head in the sand won’t help.
We political fanatics on the blogs have an unfortunate tendency to avoid media we don’t like, which certainly does nothing to help our cause. I comment on CBC articles at NN almost every day, someone has to oppose the prevailing viewpoint.
460,000 Canadian households see CBC news every day, and conservatives wonder why people vote the way they do. Add on the viewers of CTV and Global, and there are about a million people receiving their “news” nightly, while we on the blogs would be lucky to reach 25,000 people daily across the whole internet.
CBC, CTV, Globull, are all as bad or worse than CNN. I see the lies they spew and I yell at the TV. Then of course they also lie by omission, it is easy for someone who reads a great deal on line to see what they leave out.
soooo the protesters got nuthin.
what are they going to do when the shooting starts?
Army is behind Maduro, because they are being fed.. when that stops lookout Maduro.
By all accounts … life in Venezuela has degenerated into a Mad Max-styled dystopian HORROR! A land where most people barricade themselves in their homes, and are careful to NEVER reveal or expose any assets whatsoever lest they be summarily murdered by roving gangs of thieves. It is going to take FAR MORE than … opposition protests … to FIX the problem.
American opposition to Maduro-rule is the most HUMANITARIAN action taken by the Trump Admin. This madman, and this Socialist dystopia MUST END NOW! Where’s HER? … when we need a despot like Ghadaffi murdered in the street? We need HER to say (again) … “We came, we saw, he DIED! cackle, cackle, cough, cackle, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, cough … cough, cough”
When will … SHE … call-for the bombing runs … ? To unleash the “Venezuelan Spring”. With the aid of our regional allies of course …
Come on Pompeo! … our former Sec. of State was a militaristic Bitch! Don’t be out-bitched by the Queen-Bitch. Drop the bombs on Maduro’s Presidential Palaces. You don’t need a declaration of War … SHE didn’t.
I don’t think the troubles will go away with just Maduro’s demise. The military, which has become the western hemisphere’s new politburo, will not allow their power and influence to just fade away. They probably already have a new puppet president to replace Maduro. This is a very long term problem.
I agree sortawitte. I’d like to think, as strongly suggested by Kenji, that some sort of humanitarian-military action to topple Maduro’s madmen would work on some level but it can’t just be on the shoulders of the U.S. and yet most of the other nations are drinking the same socialist ideological Kool-Aid that’s consuming Venezuela’s citizens and forcing many millions to flee for their lives. Saving them is a nation building exercise of a major fossil fuel producing country. Looking at the destruction that oil market hungry foreign interests have caused Canada’s energy industry how much are they willing to help Venezuela pull out of their late stage flat spin into the Caribbean Sea? How much will those foreign interests help ensure Venezuela’s continued self-immolation? Personally I’d be in favor of helping Venezuela ONLY IF that meant the outcome is the birth of a free market capitalist economy with constitutional individual rights & freedom and equal justice for all. I’m NOT in favor of deposing one dictator only to see another one emerge. Nation building, like any, needs a strong foundation to stand the test of time.
Agreed, sorta …
Yes, the problem is larger than one single strongman leader of the party. And with no plan for the peace, look what Libya has degenerated into. So yes … the people … need to wake the hell up to the idiocy of Socialism. However, I must say … if the popular opinion in Venezuela hasn’t already turned 80% (at least) against Socialism … then they don’t yet warrant saving. Let em stew in their self-imposed mess until they wake the fkcu-up!! However, IF the popular tide has turned … then we OWE it to the people to SAVE them, and help rebuild their energy infrastructure …
In a related story … Canada May soon need a similar rescue. However the average Canadian voter doesn’t yet appear ready to accept and “own” their FAILed leftist government. Gotta stew in the mess a bit longer … stepping and fetching whatever climate Barbie tells you do.
Kenji, you know that saving Venezuela (and by future extension Canada) from their anti-free economy socialistic messes equals long term cheap poverty erasing fossil fuel CO2 releasing energy for pretty much everyone. That’s something the Global elites will never easily let free from their iron crossed Marxist infused grip. The billionaire’s that make up the group can’t lose profits and political control and they will go to war, in a real sense, to prevent it. Only question is what will become the next war’s “Franz Ferdinand” moment?
Kenji, don’t worry about Little Canader, we are owned lock, stock and beer barrel by an Elite that will never let things get to the point they are in Venezuela.
Kenji, POTUS has been pretty clear about not invading countries and repeating the oft mistake of nation building.
He campaigned on that, and he’s trying to withdraw from the hellholes that Obongo and Dubya walked right into.
With respect, Venezuela is a mess, and Maduro needs his Ceaucescu/Mussolini moment, but if the US gets involved, I suspect it will be done indirectly, by funding and arming the Freedom fighters, and not sending Private Smith and friends to die on foreign soil.
sigh . . . .
but reading history, this is how it plays out umpteen times, the socialist playbook.
promises and promises and trillions in freebies which the proletariat gobble up.
I believe the socialist elites recognize basic human laziness and greed and key on that with their election platforms etc.
‘people believe what they want to believe’.
notice how eager the locals are anywhere socialism gets an edge to go all out with the idea.
notice how socialism goes BACK to the back burner once the ‘experiment’ has ended, visa vie bob rae ontariowe.
voters have a short term memory problem at the very least.
Actually military dictatorship maybe just what doctor ordered to stabilize that shithole. And a purge of communists from military might not be particularly difficult if the rank and file are willing to go Pinochet.
Let’s just hope nobody get’s a bright idea to send western boots to the ground to win harts and minds or some such idiocy.
Nancy should send Occasional Cortex to Venezuela to lead a Congressional fact finding mission so when the Global elites take their Socialism version live in 2020 they’ll get their social operating system off on the right jack boot.
Brilliant!! She should livestream her own rape and mugging in the streets of Caracas … all high tech and whatnot. *smirk* … like a 16yo “cracker” standing his ground.
How is it that the communist government retained control even when hundreds of millions of Chinese were starving in 1960? Easy. Soldiers and party members got fed first. You want to live, support the party.
A few years ago, being a Venezuelan soldier meant the same thing. Now Maduro can’t even keep his soldiers fed. That is a recipe for revolution.
If Maduro goes, how will Venezuela Analysis be funded?
They’re citing as signs of Maduro’s imminent ouster incidents from two years ago.
Maduro isn’t going anywhere until either Chairman Xi decides to stop extending Venezuela credit or President Trump is able to persuade Congress to go along with regime change. Neither is likely to happen soon.
I think the US should stay out. Let socialism implode by itself.
If the US gets involved, I don’t think Venezuelans will thank the US.
I agree. As painful as it might be let the Venezuelan people sort this out. In the long run the left would only interpret US involvement as colonialism or imperialism of some sort. The US should only become involved physically if Cuba or some other world power physically intervenes to keep the thug Maduro in power.
As Killer Marmot stated, party members and the military get fed first. That’s exactly what happens in Cuba. So to all the Canadians – and anyone else for that matter – who ‘vaycay’ in Cuba, please contemplate somewhere a bit less repressive.
Face it Canada will be selling citizenship to the looters of Venezuela.
Look where Hugo’s daughter wound up.
The citizens dug their own grave, they need to chose.
We are not able to help and even if we tried they would unite to hate us.
Slow learners need to burn.
Just as eastern Canada cannot be “saved”.
Gimme,gimme and gimme.
Bingo. Time for some examples to be made of socialists. (Not that history isn’t already littered with them). What I especially enjoy is listening to lefties tell me it couldn’t happen here.
The boys in Davos are beginning to worry good men will start doing just that.
That was essentially the theme of the conference this year—how to stop the peoples of the western world from taking back their countries and sending them all to the gallows.
A.C., I have been watching some of Davis on BNN-Bloomberg and CNBC news — the two business channels — and it is fairly bad — anti-Trump and anti-working people. All the rich and powerful, decked out in expensive winter coats. I am glad Trump boycotted the thing.
Good Lord, why?
The only statements I am interested in hearing from them is whatever they care to say for themselves on the scaffold before the hangman does his duty.
I suspect it will mostly be variations on the remarks of Julius “Der Stuermer” Streicher. “The Zionists will hang YOU one day!!!!”
I agree. Venezuelans elected Hugo Chavez on Chavez’ promise to make the rich pay. Chavez got 80% of the vote.
That nasty little 80% are now getting their comeuppances.
That said, it should be noted that Venezuelan Army forces are being stiffened by Russian and Chicom special forces at this time.
Additionally, Russian strategic bombers such as the Blackjack have been landing at Venezuelan Air Force bases and Russia will
no doubt value the strategic placement of these air bases. Note that nuclear capable bombers such as these would not fly so far
from Russia without fighter escorts.
The best move U.S. and allied countries could do would be to supply and train insurgents.
Assassinating highly placed party officals and government agents would also be useful.
Update: Maduro is breaking off diplomatic relations with the US.
Seeing as he admires their basic dictatorships, it must be an election year in Canada if Justine is turning his back on the Commie, Maduro.
Or the Chinese embassy have sent a memo to the effect that Maduro has become more trouble than he’s worth to Beijing, and that Ottawa should not oppose his replacement with a new “liberal” puppet.
Maduro, it appears, has run out of Chinese money or will soon do so. It will fall to Guaido to oversee the foreclosure.

Breaking, Maduro has broken off relations with the U.S., and has asked all U.S. diplomats to leave within 73 hours.
So his starving Socialist followers will be THRILLED!!! Yankee Go Home!!
How long before Maduro starts building a WALL around his nation to keep the peasants from escaping to a borderless, Wall-Free America?!
With what money?
Maduro has run out of Chinese money. The Chinese want him out and a “liberal” puppet put in to oversee the foreclosure.
Venezuelan dollar bonds have jumped in price over January. Beijing is looking forward to helping itself to Venezuela’s oil. Meanwhile, any Venezuelan who can flee will not change his mind about doing so even if Maduro goes tomorrow morning.
It won’t be Venezuela building a wall. It’ll be Colombia and Brazil.
And of course the Mexican communist president Labrador Retriever, or whatever the fekc is his name, is standing solid behind Maduro. Mr Trump build that wall or soon you will have millions of Mexicans storming the border to escape the hell they brought upon themselves.
The Altering of the Deal…once again people run to a gov’t and a man-king to fix it…

I wrote this three weeks ago.

I think very possibly Juan Guaidó could be the Franz Ferdinand of our time.
Someone from Team Maduro is going to off him and that’s going to ignite the spark for Civil war in Venezuela and it will drag a lot of countries with it.
I disagree entirely.
Venezuela chose this. Venezuela voted for Chavez, then Maduro: REPEATEDLY. They doubled down, they tripled down…
LET. THEM. SUFFER.
LET. THEM. DIE.
Let them spend their own treasure, and spill their own blood, to clean up the mess that is 100% of their own making.
Why do any of you want to play white knight to rescue people from the consequences of their own poor decisions?
If you prevent ANY of the suffering, for even a moment, you will erase about 99% of the learning in about 99% of the Venezuelan population.
When has being nice to enemies, ever actually turned them into friends?
So far, no one has brought up the indirect result of this. You want to know why China has suddenly developed a mentality of cooperation with the US, as well as a bit more honesty in the publicizing of their “actual” GNP numbers? Well, they are deeply invested in Venezuela. As it is now, it’s not profitable to be so. But, stay tuned.
New socialist leader of Mexico, siding with Maduro, that won’t end well.

Until proven or demonstrated otherwise, I shall assume the whole bunch of them are corrupt socialists who could care less about their people – the Maduro government, the “opposition,” or anyone involved in the Venezuelan fiasco or their power brokers.
I would not be interested in extending diplomatic recognition of any of them until they present a clear path to democracy and rooting our rampant corruption, violence and depravity in Venezuela.
