  1. Their Shutdown Vs. Our Shutdown

“Perhaps the best way to look at the shutdown is this: We have a ruling class in this country, and it is the political class. They don’t get fired, they don’t get laid off, their plants don’t close. They have guaranteed tenure and guaranteed raises and guaranteed pensions. Their lives are not like yours or mine, subject to the whim of the market or the decisions of an “at will” employer. …

There’s just one little catch: Every five or ten years, they will have their paychecks delayed briefly. That’s it. And they can rest assured that the media will work night and day on their behalf to make that period of delay as short as possible. …

I hope that our federal overlords will look at this “shutdown” as a brief, mostly painless window into the lives of ordinary Americans. I hope that they will consider the mild pain they suffered the next time they vote on yet another larcenous trade deal or fiscal policy. I hope they will understand my human frailty more because they have tasted a tiny bit of it themselves — but I know that these hopes are, for the most part, in vain. The shutdown will end, and the Feds will be paid. The rest of us, as always, will have to suffer whatever comes next.”

    1. These furloughed government tits don’t deserve 1 single god damned red ¢ of backpay. It’s sickening.

  2. On the 6 PM news tonight there was an American air traffic controller who bleated that he didn’t have a paycheque and couldn’t survive past the end of the month.

I don’t know how well American ATC’s are paid, but here in Canada they start at $64,000 per year and go up to $145,000 a year, which seems to be the top dollar. That’s a pretty good wage, but maybe his Mom never told him to “put something away for a rainy day”.

My Mom did when I left home in 1966, for once I listened to her advice and have never regretted it.

    1. don, the government has inflated the currency to the point where a family of five, with a modest mortgage and two jobs, needing two cars, saves absolutely nothing except their pension if they are fortunate enough to work for a company that has a pension plan. That is the reality for many people who seemingly have what used to be considered a good income. I have been retired on my own dime for 14 years now and I monitor my investments regularly and my cost of living. Every year my purchasing power is eroded by inflation, an inflation not caused by me but by the government.

      1. OWG

A lot of people get tricked into buying more than they can afford. When we were forced to move for work, I figured out what we could afford for a mortgage, the bank said we could go $150,000 more, we said no thank you. The local car dealer keeps pestering me to trade in now, I still have 18 payments left on the current vehicle. They say that they will figure everything out, sure they will, but no thank you.

      2. “an inflation not caused by me but by the government.”

And then the government taxes you on the illusional capital gain they created by creating inflation.

    1. I inherited my father’s pickup truck (a 2013 Dodge Turbo Ram) and driving it can be quite irritating at times. I’m used to my motor vehicles being largely mechanical.

It was hard enough for me to get used to my 1991 Golf (which I still drive) having electronic ignition when I used to change the plugs and points on my old ’77 VW Rabbit. The Dodge has all sorts of electronic doodaddery on it that makes it darned near impossible for me to do anything under the hood. I’m sure that if I sneeze while standing right beside it, I’ll destroy something and it’ll have to be towed to the garage.

    1. Those people actually … went to college. What a JOKE college has become.

And the young boy geography-bee ‘genius’ at the end … is an obvious beneficiary of “white privilege”. I’ll bet he actually has a mother AND a father … who read BOOKS to him … wahhhh, how UNFAIR!

        1. “Interestingly ‘male’ and ‘female’ are not on the list!”

Because those are the two actual sexes, not made-up genders.

      1. ” is an obvious beneficiary of “white privilege””

And here I thought it was his toxic masculinity shining through!

        1. The boy DID appear compulsively competitive … as he just kept naming country after country. He didn’t stop … as if to demonstrate his dominant prowess of knowledge … as if he wanted to CRUSH the competition. This boy should become like Kaitlyn Jenner … who “tamed” shims toxic masculine competitiveness.

      2. I had a world map in my bedroom while I was growing up, so I became quite familiar with world geography. I became a shortwave listener while I was still in high school and I would stick pins on the last map I had to show which countries I heard.

Now, as a ham, my geographic knowledge has become more detailed as I sometimes look up where the various stations I’ve worked are located. For example, I’ve contacted hams in or near Vancouver, Victoria, and Truro–that is, Vancouver, Washington, Victoria, Kansas, and Truro, Iowa.

Then there are those places I came across while looking on the map to see where a particular radio amateur was located, such as Montreal, Wisconsin (often mistaken for a certain municipality in Quebec…).

Who says that amateur radio isn’t educational?

        1. Another place I came across as a result of my amateur radio activities is Minneapolis, Kansas. I hear there’s a place in Minnesota with the same name….

Like I said, who says that amateur radio isn’t educational?

      1. Yeah, maybe Trudeau, but as the show was shot in California, the odds that any of those nitwits were Trump voters is around zero, you muppet.

          1. But it wasn’t taped in Texas. It was taped in California and showed that most young adults are idiots in California. Not Texas. Once again a progressive doesn’t understand facts and that he has lost the argument but keeps pressing on like the moron he is (just like the morons who didn’t know a country from a continent).
            Or to be brief, STFU.

          2. So, delusional, got it. I mean it’s a hilarious segment, and definitely a little scary. But any modicum of common sense should tell you that these people are either nervous in front of cameras, trolling for attention, or the very most unfortunate of dozens of people interviewed. The city they live in has very little to do with anything.

    1. Yes Bill Majcher who exposed the corruption of Jean Chretien and PowerCorp connections to CITIC the Chinese Communist Investment arm of the Military of Communist China. The Triad Affair. PowerCorp has controlled every Canadian PM since 1967. Canada is not a country it is a huge scam. Paul Desmarais was even a member of the Canadian Privy Council the 4th level of Government in Canada that is completely unsupervised by the elected stooges of Parliament. Canada is a Gulag of Communists it is even embedded in the Fake Canadian Constitution that no adult Canadian was allowed to vote for or against. Communism embedded by PET. http://www.mediacoop.ca/story/meet-canada%E2%80%99s-ruling-oligarchy-parasites-plenty/10917

      1. Watcher – Thank you for posting that web-site, one I haven’t seen before.
Justin’s parents romanced communism. I well remember the visit they made to China, early in their marriage (1973), and their visit with Chairman Mao.

  3. Trudeau’s Bell Media(CTV) is excited that Prime Minister Groper will appear on a episode of its animated series Corner Gas. He is so cool and wonderful! Don’t be a Nazi bastard this election, join Team Trudeau!

    1. I was a huge fan of Corner Gas their first few seasons but lost interest at the same rate their writers apparently did. Now, I won’t watch reruns or even check out the cartoon because I am keenly aware of the a-hole Butt’s anti-conservative bigotries and rants.

      1. I seem to have seen all the reruns, so thats out, and have not and will not see as much as
10 seconds of the cartoon version.

      2. Is Butt-hole a filthy Liberal? Is the animated version still around or am I just good at avoiding it?

    2. Corner Gas? Never watched, never will, so I guess I won’t be missing anything. With Prinz Dummkopf making an appearance, I have a reason for keeping it that way.

  4. I have a niece who can’t read a map.
Find your way or the way finds you.
There are fundamental things you need to know IMHO. Read a map and use a compass. Ride a bicycle. Swim. Build a fire. Use a firearm. Drive.

I’ll add use a shovel and pound a nail because we all know PM SleevesRolledUp couldn’t drive a nail to save the taxpayers a billion.

    1. When my children were still in their car seats, I started to teach them to know their way around town. We would be out somewhere do shopping, and I would ask my 4 year old to navigate us home. I made sure they knew their phone number and street address, and that they could navigate home from anywhere in town. When they were older, I was carpooling some other kids home from a cub scout camp, and there were two ten year old kids, who didn’t know their own address and couldn’t direct me to where they lived.

      1. bravo sir, bravo.
rest assured they will remember the importance of the lesson and repeat it with your grandkids.
my daughter knew all the numbers and locations before starting school.
she was the youngest in the entire niagara region that year, cut off date in Thorold was
end of february, her b’day was right at the end of the month.

  5. I understand that people aren’t even considered to qualify as a trained-seal member of Kimmel’s studio audience unless they display their complete ignorance by miserably failing that test first.

    1. “they display their complete ignorance by miserably failing that test first”
I don’t think these people are kidding. They have become so accostumed to google maps guiding their way that any depiction giving them a fuller picture is beyond their comprehension. I’ve seen it first hand in our own family.

  6. Last numbers I read 25% of Canadians work for Government directly at some level, whether local, Provincial or Federal. Now this does not include all the Non Profits that get tax grants to operate each year, they also feast on the tax payer, or all of the media which are awash in tax dollars. Then you have all the Corporate Welfare bums feasting on your body as well.
And the poor old Canadians still can not figure out their paychecks and why they have no money. You are probably lucky if you actually get to keep 40% of your earnings by the time the Leviathan is done sucking your blood.
This is the same reason the Yellow Vests are rioting. The Parasite is destroying the Host.

    1. and Snowden is the ‘bad guy’ according to the hard right here @ SDA for exposing this pile of SHIT.
which apparently worked its way into jolly ol’ london’s sewer system.

the police are NOT your friend, neither is big bizznizz nor big gubbamint.
      get woke children, get woke.

  7. After destroying Veterans Affairs, Seamus is being moved to the whiny indian portfolio. But Justin is busy today. He answers questions from his drooling loyal media, then watches the space station with a bunch of kids, then sits in on a number of whiny indian meetings. Expect lots of apologies about white colonialism and pledges of more money.

    1. Oscar Wilde said that bigamy is having one wife too many, just like monogamy. Oh, we’re talking Islam, are we? Then the more the merrier, provided they know their place, right?

    2. holy moly Kate, you on some track to set a record on the # of absurdism postings?
wtf is the world coming to. ya, thats a cliche, but . . . . .

  8. 1. Can a single Canadian explain how the Prime Minister comes into office?
    2. Can a single Canadian count how many political executives appear on ballots for those positions?
    3. Can a single Canadian name the Canadian Head of State?

    1. 1 – by gaining a plurality of seats during the federal election and then by a confidence vote in the HoC at the first sitting of Parliament.
      2 – 0
      3 – Elizabeth Windsor

      1. 3. wrong answer. it is a trick question. Elizabeth Windsor aka the Queen is Canada’s Head of State. but she is not Canadian. 🙂

      1. the auto workers union supported the Liberals and NDP who advocated:
        a) higher income taxes
        b) higher business taxes
        c) CO2 taxes
        d) higher electricity prices
        e) lots more regulations.
So auto workers you got what you voted for. GM shut down a plant.

  9. I’ve only heard this on one place on the media. There are contractors who work for individual companies, such as Lockheed-Martin, but at places like the FFA, who are off work because of the US Govt. shutdown. At the end of the shutdown, they will receive no back pay like the regular govt employees. My son-in-law is one of these. He is taking vacation pay so far, but it will run out. He is smarter than most as he and my daughter have 3 rentals and savings. So, please don’t smugly assume all will get a chunk of back pay and have a vacation at the Rat Kingdom in Florida when it is all over.

  10. todays skill testing question:
how long before the dunces dont even know the NAMES of countries let alone where they are?

  11. Just announced Coastal Gas Link is shutdown by Natives again. Toadsucker Trudeau is scrambling. This is a 40B project now on the ropes. All these projects through reserves should be declared In Interest of National Security and the Canadian Troops put out in force instead on UN Rubber Duck Missions. The Canadian Military lost face with the Natives when that Mohawk was allowed to spit in that CF Soldiers face and the Gutless CF soldier did not knock his teeth out with his rifle butt. Trudeau’s Vagina is not up to the job tho. Blockade the damned Indians onto their reserves and do not let them out and turn them back when they want into any WHITE Town. No more KFC or MacDonalds or Chickety China. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-01-14/another-crucial-canadian-pipeline-runs-trouble

    1. We shouldn’t mock. After all, he’s an expert on quantum computing and he’s urged us to think differently about things such as space and time. He just oozes geniusness….
