    1. While I agree that S.Arabia is a sh!th0le, this is not how to do diplomacy. Either punch them on the nose or be “diplomatic”. Not clutch your blanket and squawk.

    2. @12:30 am LL:
The C.T.V. News @ 11:00 p.m. across Canada lead with this ” Breaking news” story tonight. The Saudi people are pulling 16,000 students from Canada. They have 4 weeks to leave. They are trying to get them into British or American Universities. Not an easy task. There are 216 @ U of T, 200 @ McGill and 54 @ Western U. The loss to our Health care will be felt not to mention the $100 million to the Canadian economy.

C.T.V. didn’t mention the other contracts lost. (Will resubmit if it pops up again)

This is a bigger story than their letting on. It is not everyday that we have to appeal to Britain and the U.A.E. with our problems ☆

Meanwhile the TAX is down ⬇️133 plus points @ closing today. Wonder why?

      ☆This was from your article.

          1. @6:10 am DM :
The computer types what it wants sometimes and it’s maddening. I catch it in the act…sometimes. Yes, wish it WAS THE TAX, WE ALL DO!

        1. Not in this case. These are temporary residents and they bring in significant dollars at no cost to Canada. The Liberal government has a mess on their hands and the economy will suffer. It is difficult to know what is behind it (though the government is pretending it is about human rights). If that is really what they think, then they are incredibly naive to attempt to impose their own human rights standards on a Muslim nation.

          1. @ 8:59 am LL:
“The Liberal government has a mess on their hands and the economy will suffer”

The flights to and from Saudi Arabia & Toronto have been canceled.

Saudi Arabia has canceled grain shipments from Canada.

Saudi Arabian patients that are in Canadian hospitals are being moved out of Canada.

          2. “So far this year, Canada has exported C$1.4 billion in merchandise goods to Saudi Arabia and imported C$2 billion, according to Statistics Canada data.”

          3. absolutely spot on.
16 THOUSAND ‘spoiled rich kids’ from one of the HIGHEST per capita income spots on the globe.
            avg cost of university?
            – NO free tuition for foreigners, FULL PRICE
            – ‘better’ accomodations
            – no kraft dinner
            – vehicles purchased locally

et friggin CETERA. now we’re talking x billions. GONE for the ‘duration’.
these are MAJOR and swift changes the saudis have put in place.

all for the sake of a couple ‘human rights’ advocates. and muslim no less. gotta take care of da muslims dere ponysocksturd !!!!
msg to present cabinet: sheee-UT yer GODDDDDAMMMMMNNNNNN MOUTH. all of you.

          4. Nancy – oh noes! Where will the Saudi girls get their involuntary clitorectomies now?

      1. Meanwhile the pro-Liberal Globe and Mail is cheerleading Justin Trudeau’s position on this.

        1. I wonder if the Saudi provocation by Freeland was deliberate? Is it an attempt to gain women voters in the next election?
The Liberals chose Justin to go after the female vote in the last election and it worked. Just think of the upside of the Saudi issue for the Liberals (from their point of view):
          a) they look like defenders of women’s rights
          b) they can cancel the contract to supply armoured vehicles to the Saudis (appealing to the “progressive” base)
          c) they can announce more funding for universities to make up for the Saudis leaving
          d) re wheat sales – grain farmers were not likely to vote Liberal anyway

          1. I do not believe it was deliberate, and the “women’s rights” spin is simply cover for their shocking naivete. Votes will be cast on the basis of how things are going in Canada. While women appreciate having rights in Canada, sacrificing jobs to preach “rights” to a nation where human rights are not a priority will be viewed as ineffective — if the Globe wishes to pretend otherwise then they are fools. This is a no-win for Canada. This does not qualify as yet another “yeah us!” moment for Liberals.

          2. I can not stand the Liberals and think their policies are stupid, but would they pull something like this to gain women’s votes? Yep they would.

    3. According to the Huff Post today, IT’S ALL TRUMP’S FAULT….. as is just about everything.

Global Affairs Canada had tweeted, “Canada is gravely concerned about additional arrests of civil society and women’s rights activists in Saudi Arabia, including Samar Badawi. We urge the Saudi authorities to immediately release them and all other peaceful human rights activists.”

So who, or what, is “Global Affairs Canada”? Really, who was responsible for this “tweet”? And why is that not part of the discussion?

    1. They may get a majority of votes but will they be able to put together a coalition? Suicidal peoples will insist on finding new and better ways to do it.

  1. Police: We’re the Experts — Don’t You Dare Criticize Us

In the past, however, the right-wing’s knee-jerk tendency to always defend the police would likely have prevented much direct criticism of police agencies themselves. That reticence, however, appears to be falling away, and the cowardice of government law enforcement officials has now become become an open question.

Naturally, this does not bode well for the position of police agencies in the political hierarchy. Law enforcement agencies have long depended on their “hero” status as an important factor in ensuring that police organizations get whatever they want from local governments and state legislatures.

“We’re Experts, Do What We Say”

In response, many defenders of police have become testy and defensive, resorting to slipshod arguments that amount to little more than “you people who aren’t police should just shut up.”

A typical example of this can be found in USA Today where Tim Vogt, a former border patrol officer and current instructor at a “law enforcement academy,” denounces any criticism of the sheriff’s deputies involved.

Vogt’s argument? Police should not be subject to criticism “from the unqualified and spineless peanut gallery.”

In other words, Vogt holds that government agents are unassailable experts who ought not be forced to suffer commentary from the ignorant taxpayers who, it seems, aren’t good for much other than paying the bills for law-enforcement agencies.

    1. “if police are going to protect themselves while victims are at the mercy of gunmen, this illustrates that private gun ownership is perhaps the only reliable defense — whether in the hands of professional private security or even amateurs.”

      I agree.

Perhaps the day will come when instead of depending on the police to enforce the law, I can rely on my neighbourhood militia.

If gang members, perverts and communists hate cops now, they’ll like the militia even less.

In the current system, a criminal can hope an activist judge can be persuaded to let him go free. The militia won’t take that risk. If it’s obvious a thug, pervert or terrorist needs killing, the militia will do what needs doing on the spot. Quick, cheap, efficient, no parasite class of lawyers necessary.

    2. There is always a line. Most straddle it. Have good days and bad. The US revere people in uniform, maybe a little too much at times as well as the exact opposite – definitely too much at times.
Just like the firefighter heroes. “Good. They can have it.” is a quote from one to me when volunteer FF were doing most of the fight during a wild fire in a rural area of my city several years ago during hot, tough conditions.

  2. I have no link for the following as I received the information in an email. Could be fake, could be true. Second last sentence is so true.

    A Charitable Foundation Folds !
Have you wondered why the Clinton Foundation folded so suddenly after Hillary was no longer in a position of influence? Perhaps this summary will provide some insight?
From their 2014 990 Tax Form; they list 486 employees (line 5)! It took 486 people who are paid $34.8 million and $91.3 million in fees and expenses, to give away $5.1 MILLION
The real heart of the Clintons can be seen here. Staggering but not surprising. These figures are from an official copy of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation for the tax year 2014. A copy of the tax return is from the National Center for Charitable Statistics web sitehttp://nccs.urban.org/ .
You can obtain the latest tax return on any charitable organization there.
The Clinton Foundation: No. of Employees (line 5) 486
    Total revenue (line 12) $177,804,612.00
Total grants to charity (line 13) $5,160,385.00 (this is less than 3%)
    Total expenses of $91,281,145.00
    Expenses include:
    Salaries (line 15) $34,838,106.00
Fund raising fees (line 16a) $850,803.00
Other expenses (line 17) $50,431,851.00 HUH??????
    Travel $8,000,000.00
Note: $20 Million in Travel & Meetings to decide who gets the $5.160 Million in Charity ?
    Meetings $12,000,000.0
    Net assets/fund balances (line 22) $332,471,349.00…
So it required 486 people, who were paid $34.8 million, plus $91.3 million in fees and expenses, to give away $5.1 MILLION! And they call this a CHARITY?
(It is alleged that this is one of the greatest white-collar crimes ever committed. And just think— one of the participants was a former president ( who should have been impeached) and one (gasp!) wanted to be elected president of the United States.
If justice was truly served they would both be in prison.
Feel free to pass this on to your friends so they can also be informed about how the deep state functions (while you are a member).

    1. Interesting, but if true why aren’t republicans or even Trump using it?

but I agree the Clintons are corrupt

    2. Don’t know if true or not but even if true, there is nothing illegal in this. It’s up to contributors to note the “overhead” vs the amount used for purpose. Information is available for all charities.

It’s no secret that contributions to the Clinton Foundation were largely based on the belief that Hillary would be President of the U.S.

      1. There may be nothing illegal on the face of it. But – is this not influence peddling?
In any event its pretty sleazy.
Question is – why isn’t Trump using this? perhaps its not true? But over the years I seem to remember other stories along this line, but until now I’d never seen numbers.

  3. Canada’s most entertaining and most serious municipal candidate.

Faith Goldy’s campaign for mayor of Toronto.

She wants Toronto to become Toronto the Good, again with a kick butt campaign against gangsta land GTA.

Creativity and principles challenge the old guard of sleepy, tired and failed.

    https://twitter.com/FaithGoldy

    1. I am doubtful that she can get enough votes to become mayor, but I am certain she can get enough votes to be the political death of John TINO (Tory In Name Only).

The idea that leftists can no longer hope to run as ‘moderate’ conservatives thrills me. So long as we are offered up lefties as though they have broad appeal and we need to vote for them to stop the real leftists, this country will continue to drift further into the leftist abyss.

      1. I prefer the Canadian “Liberal in blue suits” expression that I made up.

The Elephant in the Room: John Tory’s Grand Deflection

“The government can’t acknowledge they uncovered a terrorist operation. That flies in the face of the official narrative. Admitting these two brothers are connected to two separate terrorist attacks, one successful, the other thwarted, is definitely not on Trudeau’s list of “approved” talking points.

It’s far easier to deflect and avoid these discussions with an easy diversion. Blame licensed, law-abiding gun owners and talk about banning our guns. That plays into the emotional argument that guns are bad, instead of placing responsibility where it belongs, on the people who commit bad acts with guns.”

    1. This seems to fit the few facts that I have gleened, without knowing the whole. Good reporting and bad “governing”. Maybe we need more of the first and less of the second. BTW Mr. Kulak, have you considered changing your surname, it does rather suggest a persecution complex 🙂

      1. “…have you considered changing your surname, it does rather suggest a persecution complex”
Just preparing for the next go around. Seems more imminent.

    2. Being a policeman is only easy in a police state.
Even though gun owners are very law-abiding (to maintain their “privilege”) a totally disarmed populace is a frightened and obedient populace.
Why do the police chief’s association lie about the facts?

    1. “Kinder Morgan has long said it would cost $7.4 billion to build a second pipeline parallel to the first in order to triple its capacity, but the financial documents now say the company expects a $9.3-billion price tag.”
PM Spawn is the most expensive PM ever.

      1. It’s all part of the Liberal NDP plan to ensure it does not get built.
        a) delay
        b) make it more expensive
        c) do not pass any legislation declaring project in national interest (so courts can find grounds to stop it)
        d) make the infrastructure minister (who never got anything built) the natural resources minister. Me thinks officials are now trying to explain what oil is to Amarjeet Sohi. “Ya mean gasoline does not come from gas stations?” No background in business, energy, but hey he was a bus driver for Edmonton transit

        1. “he was a bus driver for Edmonton transit”

And he spent 18 months in jail as a suspected terrorist. He says he was innocent.

    2. So the cost of the expected Liberal party payouts is $1.9 billion?

      Seems reasonable.

  5. NASA recently launched a space probe that will use the sun and planets to accelerate to 1.6% of the speed of light (165,000 miles per hour rather than 186,000 miles per second). While rather an impressive speed, our solar system is twenty-two thousand million miles across.

When a non-stable isotope undergoes radioactive decay several particles are released including gamma rays and alpha and beta particles. Only alpha particles have mass (equivalent to a helium atom missing an electron). The maximum velocity of alpha particles is about 5% the speed of light.

Some scientists are beginning to think that faster than light travel is impossible due to the amount of energy required. Just getting near the speed of light would require enormous amounts of energy.

If mankind can only muster 1.6% of the speed of light (for a tiny probe) and mother nature can’t do better than 5%, we will never reach another solar system, let alone escape our galaxy.

    1. Other than getting as far away as possible from Justin, why would you want to leave our galaxy?

  7. “Canada Must Cut Off All Ties With Saudi Arabia, Build Energy East, Expand Our Military

Canada must not back down. Instead, we must make our own country stronger.

Saudi Arabia continues to escalate their actions against Canada, in a clear attempt to make an example of us and stop other countries from criticizing the regime.

Now, some people in Canada, including both liberal and conservative members of the failed establishment elite, are saying that Canada should ‘apologize,’ or send a high-level representative to the Saudi capital to bring the dispute to an end.

Anyone saying that is 100% WRONG.

You can’t grovel to a ruthless Islamist regime, and you can’t show weakness. To do so would only put Saudi Arabia in a position of dominance over Canada, and would only encourage other nations to threaten us.

The solution instead is to hit back, and hit back harder.

With Saudi Arabia cutting off new investment and pulling their students out of Canada, our country should simply escalate things to the logical conclusion:

Cut off all ties with Saudi Arabia.

Ban all imports of Saudi oil into Canada.

Cut off all weapon sales to them.

Order all Saudi nationals to leave our country.

    Ban Saudi investment into Canada.

At the same time we hit back, we must also make our own country stronger.

The first step to doing that would be to get Energy East going again. That would push us closer to full energy independence, keep more wealth in our country, and make it easier to ignore countries like Saudi Arabia.

Second, the $15 billion contract for armoured vehicles should be blocked, and the federal government should purchase them for our own military. Our military is currently disastrously weak, and we need some big vehicle upgrades.

Of course, this goes against the thinking of the Canadian political establishment. They have repeatedly failed to bring full energy independence (though the Conservatives were moving in that direction), and they have failed to strengthen our military.

The establishment has left us dangerously reliant on foreign countries, even though we have tremendous potential wealth and abundant resources right here at home.”

    https://www.spencerfernando.com/2018/08/08/canada-must-cut-off-all-ties-with-saudi-arabia-build-energy-east-expand-our-military/

    1. If we were smart at business we would first get Energy East going. Then we would start to put pressure on Saudi Arabia. We would let Saudi Arabia cancel the $15 billion in military contracts. Then we would react. You don’t cut off your toes and fingers to show others how angry you are. Let Saudi Arabia make all these mistakes. Then react.

This morning I read there are 8,000 Saudi students in Canada, putting an estimated $100 million into our economy. The best thing Canada can do is show compassion for these people. Let their government make them miserable.

Or, let the Liberals make all these silly moves and let’s say goodbye to them in 2019.

    Battle of Amiens.

“The Battle of Amiens, which began on August 8th 1918, was the opening phase of the Allied offensive later known as the Hundred Days Offensive that ultimately led to the end of World War I. Allied forces advanced over seven miles on the first day, one of the greatest advances of the war. The battle is also notable for its effects on both sides’ morale and the large amount of surrendering German forces. This led Erich Ludendorff to famously describe the first day of the battle as “the black day of the German Army.” Amiens was one of the first major battles involving armoured warfare and marked the end of trench warfare on the Western Front, fighting becoming mobile once again until the armistice was signed on November 11th, 1918.”
