Attack in Toronto.

Police say a white van has struck numerous pedestrians in Toronto.

 

The incident happened at the busy intersection of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue, according to the Toronto Police Service. Initial estimates suggest eight to 10 people were struck.

 

Witness Alex Shaker, who was driving southbound at the time, says the van was travelling at high speed on the sidewalk.

Subway has been ordered shut down by police. Developing…

    However, I am sure there are muslim converts there, surrounded for a 1000 years by them.

    Also, there is a lot going on in Armenia at the present. So, not yet willing to conclude anything but it is strange how all these perps happen to be “known to the authoritied”.

    Goodale added that the National Terrorism Threat Level has not changed. It is currently “Muslim,” which means a violent act of terrorism could occur.

  7. If the perp was previously known to authorities as a terror risk there should be some background coming out. Any bets on what ideology contributed to his behaviour? Edmonton was pretty much ignored by the liberal media and now another vehicle attack at what’s pretty much ground zero for Canada’s progressives. Another attack’s coming – only a question of when. Will “Just-Not” ever be “Ready” to do the job of Canada’s top leader and keep us all safe?

    I am in awe that the officer did blow the a holes head off when a hole motioned as if he had a gun. That cop didn’t give the tu@d the satisfaction or easy out and notoriety his death would have garnered. Any one of us would when confronting the tu@d would have pulled the trigger out of fear or rage. That officer had his sh1t wired so tight he stared the jackass down till he dropped his weapon.
    Give that guy a medal for bravery.

    1. There is that. In N.Ireland we were constantly reminded that although a dead terrorist was not a bad outcome, capturing them so they could be convicted of their criminal violence was believed to hurt their political cause more.

      If I’d been facing Mr Minassian when he claimed to have a gun in his pocket I’d be tempted to take him at his word and without him having specified which, shoot him between the pockets.

  13. CBC a few minutes ago bravely confirmed the name of the perp, first identified about 2 hours ago by CBS. The ID was also on NBC, the UK press just about everywhere except home.
    Why exactly with a $1.1 B subsidy, armies of reporters. technicians and other personnel, CBC can’t quite deliver current news in their on their own doorstep? For most of the time they were rebroadcasting comments from the hapless Goodale (lets not jump to call this terror), and other politicos. No investigating, no background story nothing really, Canadians are forced to get sound reporting from abroad, or from the net.
    What had to be confirmed about the perp’s name? Police ID him why can’t viewers share that knowledge? All local media were reluctant to name a person who murdered 9 people? Sorry cannot say that either.

  14. It is obvious there needs to be much tighter controls on vans – in particular white assault vans . As well any person owning a firearm should have strict restrictions or possibly jail time as he said he was carrying a gun ! It shouldn’t take much more than 6 months to determine the cause . Or Justin may enlighten us .

I watched a Canadian news broadcast at 6 and they were not saying anything about the killer’s identity, although they did have footage of Ralph Goodale reassuring everyone that the attack was not terror-related. I switched over to NBC news at 6:30 and they not only identified the perp – giving his name and age – but also saying they got the information from US law enforcement. Now why would a Canadian college student be on US law enforcement’s radar?

  31. I have a new theory. I wonder if there is a possibility that the guy is using a phony name. How do the police know who he is? Driver’s license, I would guess. What if the licence was stolen or otherwise is fake? We need to know more, but I suspect they will bury this as much as possible. He will disappear and we will hear again from him 18 months down the line when the incident is largely forgotten and eye-witness memories have faded.
