I know I sound naive, but, perhaps we need to go back to the days of the founders where duels were common. If you're going to deal sh!t, you'd best be prepared to deal with dying in a duel as a result.

Torture is now on a par with racism as a word with no meaning. If waterboarding, sleep deprivation (hello any parent) and listening to Nickleback is torture, then nothing is torture.

I can say, having experienced it, that listening to Nickleback most certainly is torture.

After having to listen to it playing over and over as a passenger getting a free ride for a few hours, I would have confessed to anything just to have it shut off.

I would agree that torture might be ineffective when used on a true patriot, a true believer in the cause, and someone with a lot of internal fortitude. But I suspect it is pretty effective against a lot of these Jihadis, especially the ones who grew up in Canada or the U.S. and went over to Syria or Iraq on a lark.

Anybody who is prepared to leave their own country to go wreak havoc in another has no integrity and very little reason not to betray his former mates. There is no honour among thieves.

It all makes sense to the gullible except for the part, besides the no brakes or help restarting, where pilots regularly discarded their guns when out of ammo to lighten the load for escape from attacks.

Sleep deprivation is actually considered one of the best methods of harsh interrogation,the subject will inevitably start talking just to be left alone to sleep. More acceptable for all involved than skinning alive Iranian-style...
