An unaccountable ruling class of overpaid administrators controls every aspect of the proles' lives - yeah, you students are the masses, and if you think they're going to let you lose your chains you've been taking too many bong hits back in your dorm room. Justice? That comes pre-determined based on whatever ideological label they pin on you.

It is time for enterprising wannabee employees to go straight to the goal.
Fake Diplomas.
For if a student can convincingly create a bogus diploma, they are showing they have all the skills they would ever learn at University.
Also by engaging in such fraud,they will demonstrate their ability to "Think Outside the Box" that HR apparently so loves.
Just as we are soon to see fake IDs,drivers licences,Social Security Numbers...Oh wait.

The fake diploma can be one's undoing as happened to someone at the institution where I used to teach.

For years, this person claimed to have a degree which she didn't actually earn. She worked her way up to department head and was active in the profession she sneaked her way into.

With time, people slowly caught on that she wasn't what she portrayed herself to be, making mistakes that someone with a proper education in that business wouldn't do. She resigned her job under mysterious circumstances and disappeared but we eventually found out what happened.

The long arm of the law caught up with her and she was found guilty of fraud.

Higher education needs to be redesigned. Combining STEM with polytech schools makes a lot more sense than combining them with liberals arts. I suspect a student engineer studying metallurgy would benefit from taking classes with and watching student welders than having to learn about how science and facts are a social construct. Studying fluid mechanics and plumbing is more rational than fluid mechanics and gender fluidity. Ditto for physics and chemistry - they'd learn more from trades and tech than social science and humanities.

If you're feel the need to educate technologists, STEMs and trades to become "well rounded" people then add on public speaking, how to manage social awkwardness or how to write an instructional memo that is understandable. Maybe even classical philosophy, logic, ethics and history. Banish anything that has "studies" or "critical" in it. Don't hire any administrator or teacher who took those types of classes.

Once you have liberal arts campuses isolated into their own little madhouses then start cutting their funding. Decreasing the amount of kids earning useless degrees but with crushing debt and reducing the amount of grievance studies graduates would certainly increase meaningful employment and social cohesion.

Good comparison -- and I'll bet most of those overpaid administrators are women. I am not down on women-- or at least I did not used to be, but I think it is demeaning when they get folded into Liberal identity politics. It makes you suspicious of any woman who has actually achieved something. When people like Monseff who have done very little are suddenly given major Departments and lots of dollars, it points to dishonesty in government and a manipulative agenda.

That's what summer jobs are for. While I was an undergrad in mechanical engineering, I spent 3 summers at an oil refinery. During my second time there, I worked with pipefitters and welders and learned, among other things, how to cut and thread pipe and how to wear and use a Scott air pack.

During my senior undergrad year, I sang with one of the university choirs. At least a third of the members were studying either engineering or one of the physical sciences.

Have you paid any attention to who we have in charge in so much of our"Public Safety"?
If we had some minimum competence we would be obscenely grateful.

Competence with FAKE credentials would be far less dangerous.Government and Human Resources of large companies is where the useless products of University go to gloat.
Ensuring large groups of useless eaters ,actively organizing circle jerks at everyone else's expense.
And actively screening out the competent and organized , because they will make the rest "Look Bad".

The benefits of summer jobs and work terms are good but I think more collaboration between STEMs, techs and trades would be even better. OTOH, I'm not sure there's much value in modern day liberal arts classes for STEM. In the past there was benefit of mingling with female students in social sciences and humanities but nowadays this just opens these guys up to a title IX persecution. I suspect women taking radiology, practical nursing, dental assisting/hygenist, other applied science education and such at polytechs aren't as neurotic.

The close proximity of STEMs to non-STEMs at university also allows the grievance mongers easy access to meddling (infesting?) science departments.

OTOH, I'm not sure there's much value in modern day liberal arts classes for STEM.

The objective for having them is to broaden one's education. For the most part, I thought they were a waste of time. While I was an undergrad, the only arts course I actually got something out of and, for that matter, was glad I took was one on Old Testament literature.

Having taught at a technical college for several years, I got the impression that the students there weren't emotionally much different than their university counterparts.

Two of my kids graduated from UCLA, and they both had stories to tell about ‘Bruin Walk’ . This is the section of campus where all the ‘clubs’ and ‘activist’ tables are placed. To get from one end of campus to another, you have to run the gauntlet of ‘Bruin Walk’ ... it’s the equivalent of (my old school’s) Sproul Plaza.

My conservative kids were quite shocked by the mono-culture of Bruin Walk. All leftism. Every table. They said that 1-table ... ONE ... was placed on the walk by the college Republicans. And that there was always a loud argument taking place at the Republican table as some tongue pierced, green haired, nutjob was shouting that they should be kicked off campus.

If they were competent, why didn't they get the credentials?

As a professional engineer, I hear of cases in which someone tries to pass themselves off as such even though they don't have the qualifications. Legislation is quite specific about that and those people are prosecuted when caught.

Perhaps. It would be interesting to see a comparison between gender or ethnic studies majors compared to dental assistants or veterinary techs.

I'm going to venture out on a fairly sturdy limb that the polytech students aren't learning about toxic masculinity, the evils of whiteness, the patriarchy, colonialism or that biological sex is a social construct. So, they'll be starting out with a lot less nonsensical baggage learned at post-secondary school.

They certainly weren't while I was teaching, but they were indoctrinated into other things equally as damaging. For example, they believed they were taught all about idiocies such as team-building.

After the institution I was at adopted the "student as customer" doctrine, every apprentice fascist signed up to get on the gravy train. Nearly every department I knew of has its own "quality commissar".

Every incompetent, gold-bricking student figured that he or she could order me about, just like the little Mao-lings the institution wanted them to be.

If they tried those sorts of stunts in the real world, there would be a good chance that they'd be handed little slips of paper that were coloured pink.

That started in engineering after the Marc Lepine/Gamil Gharbi incident. I heard that freshman engineering students at my alma mater had to take courses in "women's issues" as part of their curriculum.
