Citing confidentiality, in a telephone interview with The Hill Times, Mr. Harvey, chair of the 55-member Liberal rural caucus, declined to comment on his exchange with the prime minister at the meeting. But Liberal MPs who were present in the caucus told The Hill Times that Mr. Harvey told Mr. Trudeau that rural MPs feel that there has not been adequate consultation with them on the gun legislation expected to be tabled in the coming weeks.
According to sources, Mr. Trudeau, "went after" Mr. Harvey and "asserted" that there has already been a "robust, more than sufficient consultation," and no more consultation was needed. Sources said that the whole caucus was taken aback by the prime minister's unusually angry tone, which they said would have an "intimidating effect" on MPs' willingness to raise issues in future caucus meetings.
"He has to be able to hear the criticisms as well," said the MP. "It will put a bit of a chill. It's important that people feel free to speak up."
[...] Some MPs also questioned, in interviews with The Hill Times last week, why Gerald Butts, principal secretary to Mr. Trudeau, and Katie Telford, chief of staff to the prime minister, regularly attend the national caucus meetings which are only for elected MPs. They pointed out that chiefs of staff and principal secretaries were not allowed to attend all the national caucus during the tenures of then Liberal prime ministers Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin. They said national caucus meetings are meant to give an opportunity to rank and file MPs to speak their minds without fear of retribution from senior PMO political aides who advise the prime minister on key cabinet decisions and all functions of the machinery of the government.

New gun laws, who would have thought? Only the morons who voted for Tater Head and his "Bong" show.
I believe that the Conservatives dropped the ball months ago after the Khadr settlement. They should have told every rookie Liberal MP if they wanted a chance at the next election then they had better cross the floor or sit as an independent and cause the Liberal government to fall. Now we have the Liberals back in power and about to impose, I believe, a massively restrictive "new" set of gun laws and regulations. We are going to be saddled with re-classification of certain 'assault rifles' and a 'voluntary' clemency period. Then there will be a confiscation period because as we all know the RCMP have the LIST. Batten down the hatches cause things are going to get really interesting in the upcoming sitting in the House.
"which they said would have an "intimidating effect" on MPs' willingness to raise issues in future caucus meetings."
baaaaaaaaaaa, baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......
Is there anything more pathetic, spineless, and useless than a bleating *&^%$#g back bencher?
My personal non restricted PAL is sitting in limbo right now, 7 months after application, and 3 months after the previous PAL expired. It is currently at the office of the BC Chief firearms officer who has an enormous back log of applications to process. I was unable to get any assurance of when it would be processed. I.m hoping any legislation put forward by the liberals gets held up in committee and by the senate so that it does not pass before the next dissolution of the house of commons for the next election. That would mean the bill would then die.
FFS, does the Liberal Party have OCD? They keep making the same policy mistakes over and over again. Piss off rural Canada with gun control, corporate welfare to buddies, waste and corruption in government (forgotten shares, holidays with billionaires, European chalets and ice rinks), tax and spend, western alienation, pharmacare, daycare. I except an uber-arrogant "beer and popcorn" insult soon.
Back down to 35 Liberal MPs this election or the next election?
Trudeau is showing himself to be a liability to the Party. He will be purged, because ambitious Liberals won’t want to wait twenty years before they have their shot at being PM.
"Is there anything more pathetic, spineless, and useless than a bleating *&^%$#g back bencher?"
If the spineless Liberal backbenchers had a spine, they would have walked across the floor by now.
Donald Trump's plan to arm teachers is absolutely bizarre!!
The Gringo's are reducing their society down to the society featured in the movie, Road Warrior, can you remember the movie Road Warrior?
What has happened to the right wingers, have they lost all sanity?
Who does he think he is, the Emporer Commodus?
Thank the big guy we have gun control.
A country can survive a PM like Trudeau, but it cannot survive a people who would elect him. Canada is drawing to a close. The land and people will still be here, but new alliances and a new structure will replace it. A 51st state? A country of Western Canada? Back to Fiefdoms? Who knows? The only thing certain is it will get a lot worse before people act.
P.S. you should of seen this coming when they reduced Canada's first Prime Minister down to a caricature along with three other anonymous Liberals on the 10 dollar bill, while Laurier still sat atop the 5 dollar bill. We all await with baited breath to hear what Joe Clark 2.0 has to say about this. Zzzzzzzzz. Vote NDP. The sooner we hit bottom, the sooner we can work on the recovery.

Extreme right wing drivel.
Extreme right wing drivel.
You’re extreme left wing cuckoldry.
Why would backbenchers object to PM Butts being in caucus meetings? Did they actually think that the idiot Spawn actually ran things? Welcome to the LPC basic dictatorship.
Why why are are so so many many people people posting posting twice twice??
I hope it isn't contagious. I'm glad some of the first time Liberal MP's ARE getting nervous over Trudeau/Butts/Telford's control of the caucus,if they keep this BS up, Trudeau is very defeatable.
That's assuming Scheer, whose name half the CPC members can't even spell correctly, is going to get his comfortable a$$ in gear and start making hay on Trudeau's numerous f***ups.
I anticipate with great trepidation the upcoming new gun legislation, whatever it contains,I'm sure it won't be good for gun owners.
Actually it makes perfect sense. Why should you have to go through mental detectors and other security issues to get into a court house and many government buildings? You will see armed guards What kind of a nutcase are you? There were two teachers killed in the shooting in Florida....the outcome of the whole thing would have been different if one of them had been carrying. And the shooter could have simply stayed in that school all day with the "police officers" standing outside. Get your head out of your ass.
Luke 11:21 >>>Jesus speaking
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe.
Luke 11:22
but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil.
Luke 22:36
basically says, if you don't own a sword buy one, if you can't afford one, sell you coat and buy one.
So bygeorge, screw trudope!
To satisfy political correctness, diversity, feminism, enviro-activists and the need to enrich Liberal fundraising dinner donors, the new legislation will require all PAL holders to complete 100 hours of sensitivity training on-line. Like the gun registry, the new course will be estimated to cost 1 million to develop but have cost overruns in the billion dollar range. Once you've completed your course, you'll be 'woke', vegan and beat your guns into bicycles (swords into ploughshares).
Bongo's old man used to bring his 'special friend' Michael Pittfield to caucus meetings. Nothing to see here folks.
Did you learn that from the cbc? You really don't have anything to say but what the glowing idiot box tells you to say. That sort of tripe has no value, no thought and is the product of social engineering of the lowest denominator.
Funny isn't that every time they make rules for the law abiding, responsible gun owner, the criminals laugh and flout the law. Trudeau's shoe size and IQ are about the same.
Interesting captcha Tribal 1468
What difference can more laws possibly make? Which laws will criminals magically follow? The next ones? The ones after that? It takes an idiot to make them and a bigger idiot to believe that this is the one that will do the trick. The commonality is idiot.
This isn't a new idea and there's nothing bizarre about it. Some schools already have some teachers who are armed. And other schools had armed police officers. We protect our politicians with guns, and our courts with guns, and our money with guns, so why do we consider our children less valuable?
Why don't you simply look at whether or not school shootings take place in 'Gun-Free Zones' or at schools where signs say 'Teachers are armed and will use all measures to protect students'.
An intelligent analysis even looks at places where shootings DON'T occur to try to understand why.
I guess I'm in deep trouble then. Last week someone posted a link to the Status of Women website where I challenged the sensitivity test that all government employees have to take.
I failed badly.
Why are so many people posting twice?
I think it is because they are impatient. While I do not post often, all one has to do is leave the site alone by doing something else for a few minutes or longer - either google something else or go eat lunch or do something else. How hard is this? The system that this site has set up works well, so stop whining. Keep up the great work SDA! We all appreciate the content of this blog and all those who regularly maintain, comment and inform us.

At this point, I am not as keen to get rid of Trudeau as I have been. That is because I think he will be instrumental in getting Ontario to vote for Ford. The more Justin screws up, the more people will want to support the anti-Justin which arguably is Ford. Certainly Ford will throw a monkey wrench into the climate tax. That would be very satisfying indeed.
Yeah, before we know it someone will come up with the crazy idea to put armed individuals on aircraft, and maybe call them Air Marshals or Sky Marshals.
What? JFK you say? Never mind then.
My guess as to why Butts and Telford attend the caucus meetings is that they actually need to know what the MPs say and think. They realize that PM Trudeau would not be capable of understanding what transpires at the meetings, so they end up "understanding" it for him.
Then they translate it into language that a dull-normal person might be able to understand, and write the one-page summary in single syllable words with the 3 bullets that the PM then reads when asked questions.
I suspect new legislation will be try to discourage people in rural and urdan areas from being "vigilantes". Of course, if that happens then the last words thieves may hear on rural properties is "release the hounds".
"He will be purged, because ambitious Liberals won’t want to wait twenty years before they have their shot at being PM."
Ambition you say?
I'm not sure which rock you were hiding under, but Zoolander brought the LPC back from their first ever 3rd place finish in Canadian history, one in which the NDP were the Official Opposition, and the LPC now has a solid majority. They are not about to shoot the dumb goose that laid that particular golden egg.
To put it bluntly: Their Ambition is to serve the 6 years required to get the Golden MP Pension. Every Liberal MP who wasn't sitting in Parliament before the last election will now owe their ambition to get that pension to PM Zoolander's Daddy's name. They ain't going to blow it on some other joker's crap shoot that imagines they can be PM.
" Sources said that the whole caucus was taken aback by the prime minister’s unusually angry tone, which they said would have an “intimidating effect” on MPs’ willingness to raise issues in future caucus meetings."
An intimidating effect?
The caucus should tell him, "sit down and shut up! You're a child and nothing you say makes any sense to anyone anyway."
Instead, they're afraid to raise issues in future meetings?
It appears that Turdeau the feminist, has much more than 50% of little girls on his team.
Time for some of the little Liberal boys to start pushing back.
Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Great White North: Your American cousins would LOVE to cross the border with 300 million small arms and 1 billion rounds of ammo to help you squash your present tyranny. Just say when.
And don't worry. We'll all go back home when we're done. Your country is just too damn cold.
Now that we are veering off into the American gun problem, I'd like to throw this to the Liberal trolls. In all the mass shootings that happen in schools the commonality that binds them together is that they all occur in 'Gun Free Zones'. The mental capacity of the shooter, the disturbed individual, is not so unbalanced that they attempt to shoot up a police station. No they go to the 'Gun Free Zones' to cause mayhem. After so many incidents the Democrat/Liberal left do not recognize this fact. They are still adamant that more gun laws will prevent mass shootings. More gun laws will prevent diddley squat. A mental case getting into a kindergarten class with a hammer or machete could cause just about as much mayhem. If the availability of guns cannot be prevented, which time after time has proven that it can't , then the only solution is to provide the vulnerable with the ability to defend themselves. In school situations provide some of the caretakers (read teachers) of the vulnerable with the ability to arm themselves. It's a two birds with one stone solution. Arming some teachers will automatically remove a great swathe of leftists that inhabit our education system and we may get back to a balanced, unbiased education system.
If these are the leaks we will be hearing about over the next while then I have to wonder who is going to be the sacrifice.
A backbench MP or two advisors in the PMO?
No, Trudeau is still a name recognition celebrity vote-getter for the liberals who want to stay in power, so the rural back benchers will not revolt any time soon. Do not forget that the media has “informed” voters for decades that conservatives are bad for the country. We have a weak replacement in Andrew Scheer, as he is also too young and inexperienced to DOCTORSbe a credible candidate for running the largest corporation in Canada. He should have resigned as speaker and been appointed to run a department, as James Moore did.
If Doug Ford is elected in Ontario, you can bet on an enhanced media attack on conservatism. Andrew will not be up to the task of differentiating himself. The NDP May benefit from the India trip in some urban ridings.
In a real democracy your MPs would not be talked down to by anyone.
In a real democracy your elected representatives would be unafraid to speak speak up and be heard, being there too represent the citizens who elected him.
Hopefully Canada will eventually have MPs who serve the citizens and not the party.
"angry"
Where are all the other bouncers that worked with Truedope when he was beating up drunks?
James - question for you. That gym teacher who threw his body across students in an effort to save their lives - if you could question him today and ask him 'which would you had preferred at that moment - your body or a weapon to fight back'? Now honestly? If you can be honest, that is. Then - you want to make a 'real life' issue comparison to a MOVIE?? Then you ask if right wingers have lost all sanity? You need to get a life buddy.
Thanks. We may have to take you up on that.
Didn't you guys try that in 1812?
Everyone knew or should've known that the Trudeau Party like the National Socialists they're modeled after were coming for law abiding gun owners... that was a given... slaves cannot be armed. When do Liberals ever "consult with Canadians"? Give me a break, Liberals couldn;t care less what Canadians believe. As for Meatheads unhinged dictates, well thats not the first time supreme leader has come unhinged, remember the "get the f#%k outta my way" assault on a female NDP member from the "feminist" dipshit? Or the "you are a POS!" outburst in the House. A petulant immature spoiled child with multiple speech impediments and a clear mental derangement. Compromising mental health issues just like dear old Dad @ Mum. Heinrich Himmler Butts is coming for your guns, get ready to fight back.
Just theater.
Thats Canadian Alt Reich Nazi to you, leftard.
I always tell people my personal "safe space" is the gun range.
Butts is his nickname because that is where his hand is all the time, like the puppet master he is. Up Trudeau's butt.
"Your American cousins would LOVE to cross the border with 300 million small arms and 1 billion rounds of ammo to help you squash your present tyranny."
Well, I hope they'd do a better job here than what they've accomplished in the Middle East.
But seriously, here's the problem: on a pretty consistent basis, two thirds of the electorate in this Country votes to have its arse kicked AND wiped. So that's why we end up with tits like turdo la doo, Andrew "Paris" Scheer, and the power-hungry turds running most of our provinces and major cities.
The sheep on the councils and back-benches trade whatever balls they might have had for the opportunity to get on committees and/or to suck for secretary or cabinet positions...just like these gutless, anonymous wonders referenced at the top.
This is getting very tiresome. On the other hand, if there really are 55 rural seats with sitting Liberal members - and I have considerable difficulty believing that - the proposed legislation should be able, all on its own, to make a major dent in the overall Liberal caucus in 2019.
