The left really thought that the election of Hillary would be the last stage in their Frankfurt School Globalist coup against free people.

I wholeheartedly agree with the thesis of David French that the MSM are so Trump-obsessed they are missing real news. That said, the dead Russkies story as presented by French in the NR is likely not the real truth about this incident. The SDF/YPG/YPJ have been withdrawing forces to fight in Afrin against the Turkish Operation "Olive Branch". However, to get there they need passage through territory held by the Syrian regime.

So the alternative story to the NR narrative is that the SDF worked a deal to hand over the Conoco gas plant just east of Deir Ezzor, maybe 8 km from the front lines at the closest point (the Euphrates is for the most part the line between SDF/Coalition and the SAA/tribal coalition), in exchange for passage through regime territory south of Aleppo. When the Americans got word of the deal, they attacked the enroaching convoy. That story is plausible against the backdrop of the Kurds requesting SAA help in Afrin, however even if it is not true, it seems likely that tribal forces allied with the Syrian regime, with the help of Russian mercenaries tried to take advantage of the demobilizing of SDF forces.

However, if there is evidence these forces actually attacked a "known" American base, it exists mostly in the mind of David French. It makes no sense they would do something that suicidal. Likewise the 200 to 300 dead Russians and alleged radio transcript likely belong in the "fake news" bin.

Conservative-minded types tend not to question the storylines narrated by the American military and intelligence, but they've been caught lying or most likely lying about 2 recent events in the Syrian campaign. Firstly the attack on SAA forces defending Deir Ezzor in September of 2016 was not an accident as claimed. Secondly, their claim to have "not been involved" in the negotiations to give free passage to ISIS in the Raqqa pocket, is also a lie. On this issue when it became clear they had been caught lying, they admitted they had been involved in the decision to give free passage to ISIS, they lied again that it was only 250 fighters, when it was more like 10 times that.

Sheesh today's media isn't professional (not saying it ever was); it is corporatist and is channeling women's mags from the 60s. It's click bait, recycled rumours, recycled gossip, second, third, and fourth hand hearsay, idle speculation, half baked hypotheticals and that's if you are choosy. They know their audience well, soap opera women and other cases of arrested development, who CRAVE drama.
MSM reporting is manufactured for the sake of revenues, it is not actually reflecting on the ground reality. Outliers and cranks are by definition rare but they have swamped the professional ethical media; their message is amplified and magnified. The media does appear out of control, and desperately competing for traffic, constantly ramping up the perverse, manufactured drama, and fake outrage; they are masters of deceptive editing, omission, and misrepresentation.
But, don't the spin doctors of malice and hyperbole realize that they are undermining themselves? Thus far, when it comes to DJT, their efforts seem to have been a wash. I know I hate ankle biters, piling on, butt sniffers and other voyeurs. I don't know if they have damaged DJT but it seems unlikely. I think they may have damaged themselves more by crying wolf. But, I don't know, maybe millennials and minorities are not capable of recognizing a glib shills when they see them.

French wants a clearly articulated policy so he is something to criticise. Trump will not articulate a policy, maintaining flexibility. But I think we are witnessing the partitioning of Syria and the formation of the Kurd nation. Ivan will own the rest probably, but the Israelis are hoping to knock off a piece to improve their northern border. I also think this is obvious and why it eludes French escapes me.
