The money for that rink had to come from somewhere.

About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Liberals are evil. Not just "wrong"

i hear nobel prize laureate kirsty duncan and her
platoon of baby scientists are working on a
cure for blindness.
up next... world hunger.

Because the blind are just like those greedy veterans, farmers and waitresses: terrible money-grubbers.
(sarcasm function disabled)
Only a Liberal government would envisage such a facility when a few hundred yards away the Rideau canal is available for public skating, paid for by another bunch of federal dollars from the National Capital Commission. A few block away the city of Ottawa has another community rink; that makes 3 separated government entities involved in public skating for in the city.
Colour me surprised...Don Martin gives Stockwell Day some credit for the conservative concept of looking after tax payers money.
BTW The so-called Nobel prize winning scientist Duncan has re-nigged and 'found' some funding for CNIB.

"those greedy veterans, farmers and waitresses"
mrs neo's grandfather, a man who carried around some
nasty metallic souvenirs for the rest of his life, as a
result of his 1916-7 vacation in muddy, bloody belgium,
went blind in his later years and derived much solace
from audio books from the cnib.
good to know pierre-lite has his priorities in order...

disastrous visit to india.

Sir, this Trudeau is a piece of excrement.
And that is my nice assessment of this cretinous piece of garbage.
In many ways Justin(over his head)is similar to Stockwell in seeking attention. The difference is that the media fawned over the former and panned the latter. Justin is a creation of a biased media.
In reality Stockwell had much greater respect for taxpayers than the village idiot.

Lords of Canada, never done stealing.
All three parties are squealing at the trough.
All "Entitled to their entitlements"
The peasants are revolting, and all parasites rush to replace these citizens.
Never any rush to cease stealing.
My thanks to Preston and Stephen, they showed us all that Kleptocracy cannot easily be reformed.
Liberalism is a progressive disease, very soon we will be back to the post Pierre the Idiot days.

We live approximately one hour from Parliament Hill. We were totally disgusted with the whole idea of this rink, let alone the unbelievable cost. The vast majority of the skaters were residents of Ottawa (90% of those were civil servants). Also available is a beautiful rink in front of City Hall and, of course, the Rideau Canal. Yet the cost of this rink is born by you and me, people who could not take advantage of it. Please do not think that only Western Canadians hate this sort of thing. You have plenty of company in Eastern Ontario.
Fortunately, the government has decided to partially fund the CNIB program "...while our working group continues to develop a long-term strategy for the production of accessible alternative format materials,". If the CNIB is doing a decent job, then why do we need a - no doubt well remunerated - "working group" to develop some half-arsed strategy which will require twice the funding to do half the job.
Know personally the value of the service as Mum developed macular degeneration and was legally blind for her last 20 years. She got involved with "talking books" early on, and her big blue tape deck always held her latest "read". For quite a few years, she spent her evenings "reading" while knitting for the grands; a widowed cousin noted how comforting the sound of a reader was, almost like having someone with you in the evening. Eventually the move was to CD's which proved more challenging; the new player came with a lot of options but all Mum really wanted was "stop", "start", and "re-wind" if she wished to re-read a passage. But Mum kept going with it as long as she stayed in her own home; she liked her evening read.
And Mum's story is not unique; a lot of seniors are legally blind and use this service.
My mother's story is similar. She has had a life long love of books. She became a library technician later in life and worked for many years in a college library. She has lost most of her sight to macular degeneration as well. When she lost her license she stopped most of her outside activities so audio books and her CNIB supplied reader have become even more important in her life.
She is still being treated for macular and I take her to the clinic every couple of months so she can get another needle in her eye. I'm still amazed at the number of people at the clinic getting the same treatment. I don't think most people are aware just how big a problem macular degeneration is and how many people are affected by it.
When Mum got it, I was told it was the single biggest cause of blindness in the elderly. Unfortunately, there weren't any good treatments back in the day. Mum's central vision went black, though she retained her peripheral vision remained excellent. It took the offsprings some time to realize, that if they were going to misbehave in their granny's presence, they had to do it directly in front of her, not off to the side. They tell some good stories.
You ingrate! Never has this (post-national) country been so strong, so culturally enriched through the love, wisdom, and guidance of the greatest prime minister that (post-national) Canada has had or ever will have!
I am unworthy even to look upon his image, so omnipotent and enlightened is he!
(The preceding was intended to be sarcastic and is not to be taken seriously by intelligent beings.)
And the same media fawning over the Shiny Pony makes fun of (George W. Bush/Donald Trump/Doug Ford) for the crime of being stupid...

What for, you ask?
This is coming from a guvamint that cannot run a payroll system. But do not worry, it will not cost any more than $510,000. (last line in article)
I'm not worthy!
I'm sure Justin thinks he is that princely.
