it's a cull...a thinning-out of the flock, if you will....

How DEAD do you have to be ... inside ... to intentionally ingest laundry pellets to BURN some "feeling" into your innards ?

You have to be one thoroughly hopeless, witless, vacant-headed human to self-poison yourself. Sick. Our culture and society seems to be accelerating its decline. Thank you Social media ... for spreading stupidity like wildfire. Like the fire BURNING your kid's esophagus

This gives new meaning to going out for a dog and suds.

I'm not going to try them until they come out with a free range all-organic gluten free version.

Heh.
Ontario government radio adds directed at teenagers tell them that street drugs may contain fentanyl, and that a tiny amount could be fatal, Then, incredibly, instead of saying, "So don't become a dead dummy by using street drugs" the ad merely cautions against doing street drugs while you're alone.

I feel as bad about this as I do fentanyl users. Darwin making the world a better place.

Anything to get attention and pity of crazy raging single mother.

BOLO for young people hacking up their innards while simultaneously blowing bubbles out their arses.

They have replaced God and the family as the basis of society. This is the end result; generations of rudderless, thoughtless, willfully ignorant people who will believe anything and do anything. The product of a dysfunctional society, full of dysfunctional people, that can no longer sustain or examine themselves. Unable and unwilling to take responsibility for anything or anyone. This is what the end stage looks like; people on u-tube doing patently absurd things for patently absurd reasons.

Can I reserve a pod on the next space flight leaving this planet?

Maybe someone said they were probiotic when raw.
More proof there should be an intelligence test to vote.

I’m sure Lisa Helps, Comrade Gregor and Judy Darcy will get right on that.

It’s about SAVING LIVES DONTCHA KNOW!

TimR, exactly. That is about the sum of the ludicrousness of increasingly ludicrousness society. Although, a disclaimer word about the gluten free, one of my daughters is a celiac and gets ill from eating gluten.

Kevin, well said. There is a society that began in the 7th century waiting in the wings that has a belief system and wants to take over.

Surely the silly loons are just cracking them open in their mouths and spitting the contents out for video effect. Only toddlers and people suffering from dementia would swallow. Surely.

I find the real stupidity is that people are so easily duped by a marketing ploy. It should be fairly obvious that when you buy detergent pods you are paying twice as much for half as much detergent than if you had bought powder or liquid. If you are so lazy that you can't measure detergent into your wash maybe you should be eating it.

You know ... I was just discussing THAT very idea with the wife, yesterday re: immigration. In every sci-if or disaster movie ... when the President and/or Scientists are loading the space ship to a new planet ... they are invariably hand selecting the best and brightest of society to populate the next world. So ... why then ... are we loading our nations with the s#ittiest of s#ithole dwellers and terrorists for our future here on earth? Show me ONE sci-if book that describes launching the dregs of society into space to build mankind’s future? Of course nobody would want to create a society built on the sketchiest parts of humanity.

That would be Douglas Adams, and the "B" ark. From the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy (of 5 books)

Unfortunately it backfired, and the keen minds ("A" ark - never launched) and good workers ("C" ark, never launched) all got wiped out by an epidemic that came from not having their telephones sterilized because all the telephone sterilizers got sent away....

Back in my day all we had was Borax. And we liked it!

"Show me ONE sci-if book that describes launching the dregs of society into space to build mankind’s future? Of course nobody would want to create a society built on the sketchiest parts of humanity."

'Australia' is not science fiction.

You say Australia, I give you Haiti and raise you Jamaica. Culture might just have something to do with it.

It has something to do with it, but only something. Much more important are institutions. When institutions rule-as they should!-culture does not matter. Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Chile are all successful for reasons that have nothing to do with culture and everything to do with institutions-in the case of HK it literally came down to one man who energetically baulked the British government from screwing up the island he governed. Haiti vs Dominican Republic is probably another example of this-in this case, the French were really bad colonists while the Spanish were relatively decent.

America's success comes down to institutions too. It's not culture; if culture had solely guided America's path they would have ended in the gutter a long time ago. When culture takes the wheel, it's a quick trip off a steep cliff.

Nonsense as usual. Savage culture, breeds savages who build savage societies with dysfunctional institutions. Or you can argue that savages build savage culture, chicken egg sort of thing. Point being that institutions are only a product of culture. When culture is rejected institutions seize functioning. Hence places like Zimbabwe or South Africa, where, to quote Warren Zevon, "the $hit that used to work won't work now".

HK, Singapore are former British colonies, where British way of doing things i.e. culture and norms laid foundations for future success. Chile is successful because it rejected Latin American norms and culture and adopted western way of doing things (large influx of Japanese did not hurt them either).

Dominican is a $hithole that would fall apart without western tourism and aid. Go to Santo Domingo, the only people working are in Chinatown.

Dubai is, for obvious reasons, a very specific exception to the rule.

The college initiation stunts go way back....some guys ate live gold fish. No kidding. The media and the soap people probably pay these kids to do this. The kids probably put something at the back of their throats to block swallowing. The gag reflex is comical to these dummies at drinking parties. Ever see the stuff your cheeks with large marshmallows competition? I do not drink booze, it creates a false sense of joie de vivre. These poor people will learn when their livers and kidneys go BUST.

"HK, Singapore are former British colonies, where British way of doing things i.e. culture and norms laid foundations for future success."

Bzzt wrong. The people did not change. It was institutions ie what runs the place that matters. It comes from the top.

"Savage culture, breeds savages who build savage societies with dysfunctional institutions. Or you can argue that savages build savage culture, chicken egg sort of thing. "

Of course if this were remotely true we would still be stone-age tribals warring with each other. Thank goodness it's just pseudo-scholarly gobbledygook.

possibly right on all points.
swallowing live goldfish is a real good way to get a parasite. there are contests to see who can quaff a tablespoon of some dry spice, cinnamon or something. real real good way to inhale it and coat the lungs. drinking parties, hazing, etc = lethal intoxination, likewise plain water is used, same deadly result. the marshmallow competition? the local autumn fair had that until some woman suffocated with one jammed and hopelessly STUCK (no heimlich for you!!). on and on it goes, so yes folks the world is getting stooooopider and stoooopider thanks to fakebook, utube, twit, etc. or maybe these avenues merely publicize the stupidity.

personally, I think it great when walking brainfarts like this unintentionally top themselves, more space in the emerg ward for those who really need and deserve medical attention.

Don't laugh.

Someone may, in all seriousness, suggest this.

God help us all.

"The people did not change. "

Of course they did. The more western norms they adopted, i.e the more they changed their culture, the more successful their institutions become. Institutions are not created out of vacuum you imbecile. Institutions are a product of culture. They cannot function in a culture hostile to them. In Rhodesia, SA, Ceylon culture did not change to adopt better (western) way of doing things and the previously successful institutions collapsed.

"Of course [you're an idiot] blah blah blah stone age".

Culture changes hence we advanced beyond stone age. It did not change much Africa hence they are gravitating back to stone age.

the only one's to blame are those who do this crap..........captcha............tripa copias...

The only book I can think of is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It explains how the earth was populated by the useless people sent away on a Galgafrinchian ark ship. They loaded up all the hairdressers, middle managers, and fatefully the phone sanitizers onto the ship and sent them off in space. If I remember correctly the "superior" people who remained on Galgafrinchia died out from a plague spread on dirty telephones.

To help make your case in point ... Iran under the Shah.

Putting aside the Savak and the Shah’s techniques for quashing Muslim Fundamentalist revolutionaries ... the Shah fully adopted and embraced Western CULTURE. Women went to school. Private business thrived. The people thrived and were the equals of anyone in the West. It was the MODEL of Islam in the 20th Century. Then. Back came some Ayatollah or another (thank you, Jimmy Carter). And Iran reverted back to their former 5th Century culture.

The misery of the Iranian people derives 100% because of the “native culture” of the 5th Century Islamic Death Cult. They enjoy virtually ALL the institutions of the West ... even including nuclear technology! ... all operated by a Fundamentalist Islamic culture which is no more advanced than Amazonian headhunters in loincloths.

Institutions are not created out of vacuum you imbecile

I cannot adequately explain how satisfying it is to read someone else’s words that so succinctly express my EXACT thoughts. Esp. when it only takes 9 words!

Fully agree, Iran is a perfect example here. Breakup of Soviet Union and the fall of Warsaw pact provide more examples. All those places started at more or less the same institutional level, yet some progressed (i.e. evolved their institutions) much better than others? Why? Culture, that is why.

LOLWUT? Bolshevist totalitarianism is not 'culture' you stupid twat.

Iran is an example of culture being a steering force-as well as institutions. The New Regime used the repressive tools of The Old Regime to carry out the revolution. Same is true of Russia to a certain extent.

Funny thing is, Iranians are more and more pro-western.

"LOLWUT? Bolshevist totalitarianism is not 'culture' you stupid twat."

You must be comprehension impaired. Well you are, we all know that already. Let me explain again (using words with the least number of syllables). Under communism these countries had more or less the same institutions. With communism gone some did much better than others. Why? Because culture. Superior culture allowed them to reform the institutions more successfully than inferior culture. Can you follow the argument now? If any words are too long ask a grown up to explain them to you. Cretin.

What do you "think" culture is btw? Cuisine and folk dancing?

"Iran is an example of culture being a steering force-as well as institutions. "

Oh so now culture matters? Who would have thought? Keep going, maybe you will eventually realize that, as Kenji pointed out, it is the culture that changed (or rather resurfaced) and it used the same institutions to destroy the country. Hence it is not institutions but culture that matters. Thank you, case closed, lecture concluded. You are excused now, go back to stuffing crayons up your nose.

Colonialista!

Doin the work that Kenji just refuses to do!! LoL

Just playing with a chew toy, is all.
