It wasn't "love" but rather a strategic policy, and largely directed at the British Empire because it had such a huge Muslim population. Cultivating the Mufti* was one of the Nazis' more successful outcomes, along with their support to the 1941 coup in Iraq,** but they had little real impact on Muslims elsewhere, particularly in British India.

Whatever their antipathy to Britain, Indian nationalists of all religious backgrounds generally disliked the Nazis (the Japanese had more success with hardline nationalists but even that effort was a relative fizzle for them). If you have an interest in this aspect of modern Indian history, try googling "Subhas Chandra Bose" (who actually went to Germany to try to get German support) and "Indian National Army".

As Rizwan pointed out, Muslims in the USSR served in the SS (and good numbers of Bosnian Muslims served in the SS "Handschar" division in the Balkans as well). But Soviet and Balkan Muslims also fought against the Nazis, so an inconclusive result there.

By the way, the "German love for all things Islamic" didn't start in 1941. Kaiser Wilhelm II actually had very romanticized notions about Islam and he too saw the strategic value of fostering relations with (in his case, the Ottoman Empire) against the British and French.

* Though ironically, Hitler's murderous policies towards European Jews would result in the very thing Arab Palestinians had been trying to avoid: more Jewish settlers in Palestine.

And these postwar settlers were quite a different kettle of fish. Having survived the Holocaust, they were a bloody-minded, determined army of survivors who had absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain.

As the Arabs would soon discover to their cost.
