Brave, brave act.

Were Harper in Power I would hope he would have followed suit.

Breitbart:

"President Donald Trump will announce Wednesday that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and that the State Department will begin a process to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
Trump will first announce that the “United States government recognizes that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel,” according to one of three senior administration officials who spoke with reporters on Tuesday.

The officials conveyed that the change is a recognition of “reality” — both the historic reality that Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people and the Jewish faith since ancient times; and the modern reality that the city is the seat of government for Israel, housing its legislature, supreme court, prime minister, and executive agencies.

Second, Trump will direct the State Department to begin the process of moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem."

While I love the idea of embassy moving to Jerusalem and of course recognizing Jerusalem as being the capitol of Israel the news source on this story is ABC and they haven't had the best record of honest reporting as of late. I won't be holding my breath waiting for Trump to make the big announcement.

CNBC the guardian and even al jezerra are reporting it too.

Didn't Joe Clark try this with the Canadian embassy in 1979?

If not now, when? This will make it clear that if the opponents of Israel want to peacefully negotiate terms then they better get on with it. If they have no intention of ever recognizing Israel's right to exist, then they better get on with it.

"The Senate on Monday passed a resolution calling on President Trump to "abide by" provision of a 1995 law moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The provision was passed as part of a measure commemorating the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, which followed the Six Day War in 1967.

The Senate passed it in a 90-0 vote."

The 2 Canadians who chaired the UN debacle (screw up) between Israel & Palestine were none other than Judge Rand, followed by PM Pearson... The two relative piss-Ants didn't make good policy that everyone respected, it should have been the UK or the USA that chaired that UN committee..

Do you think the CBC will broadcast the Truth about Pearson's stupidity in the ME ?

JMHO

The Palestinian Authority has declared "Three Days of Rage" to protest the announcement.

Two year olds throwing tantrums?

This is yet another instance where you absolutely know it's the right decision BECAUSE IT P*SSES OFF ALL THE RIGHT PEOPLE. Bravo Trump!

Yes Clark was going to move the Canadian embassy to Jerusalem but decided not to because he thought it better to listen to his most fervent critics instead of those that actually voted conservative.

The capital of Canada is Ottawa. This is the choice of the people of Canada. As a foreigner I don't have a voice in the matter and, further, would not presume to instruct Canada (which, anyway, is the only stable nation in this hemisphere) in the matter.

Similarly, Israel is a sovereign state. If the government of Israel states that the capital is Jerusalem (which, despite the long exile, has been true for thousands of years), for anyone not an Israeli to claim otherwise is an affront to Israel and to all sovereign states.

Watch for the news about Turkey's actions after the announcement is official. I'm expecting more than just a 'red line' comment from Erdogen. I won't be surprised if the U.S. airbase there is closed.

In other news Trump acknowledges that water is indeed wet. Israel's capital is Jerusalem. Foreign embassies are located in the capital city of the country. How is this controversial?

The absolute, unqualified, best thing about Trump? His uncanny ability to trigger all the right people.

Yes, but how will we be able to tell?

Isreal is a a sovereign nation and therefore has a right to select its own site for the capital. It follows then that other nations acknowledge, accept and behave accordingly to that choice. Well done President Trump!

The Communist Pope ... The Pope of Appeasement ... The Pope of Islam ... denounces MY President for simply observing the obvious ... that Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel. We used to have Popes who actually defended the faith ... now we have one who apologizes for it.

Canada has a Prime Minister who apologizes for the sun coming up and then deceitfully setting later on on the same day, tears are never optional but always required. I can hardly wait until he apologizes to Angela Merkel for Canada s part in defeating them in ww 2.
