With the ongoing kerfuffle by the LEA in Vegas, the backtracking, the refreshing time line etc., etc., etc., perhaps someone can find out why the ATF under the Obama administration allowed the implementation of ‘bump stocks’. A clear violation of all that the Democratic party holds dear in as far as ‘gun control’ is concerned and yet they allowed the commercial marketing of these devices to convert a semi-automatic weapon into a ‘replica’ automatic. There is more to this tragedy than meets the eye!

  10. The Obama Administration was never under the constant media watch that the present Trump administration has had to endure. Perhaps that would explain the reason for bump stocks having gone unnoticed until the recent Las Vegas disaster. And had it not been for the Las Vegas shooting, few people would have ever heard of a bump stock.
    Remember the Boston Marathon bombings of April 15-2013 and the pressure cookers?? The American media flooded the news with photos of what our grannys canned peas and corn with! My kids were 36 and 38 that year and had never seen a pressure cooker until that day. And yet the pressure cooker had little or nothing to do with the incident except that it was an closed container.
    A skilled marksman using a military type automatic weapon could have most likely dealt even more damage than Paddock did that night. Even a skilled marksman using a common bolt, lever action or semi auto hunting rifle with high powered rounds can deal a lot damage in 10 minutes.
    How do you search out crazies like Paddock?? How do you form a profile that will highlight a relationship between guys like Paddock and dangerous weapons?? I don’t think it will happen soon. The American administration seems aloof to the real problem. The American Dream is becoming a nightmare!!

    A major shareholder of Total SA is Power Corp, owned by the Desmarais family.
    Former members of Power Corps board of directors are Paul Martin, Maurice Strong, Jean Chretien, Brian Mulroney. Pierre Trudeau was on Power Corps international advisory board. Jean Chretien’s daughter is married to one of Paul Desmarais’s sons. There are many other connections of Canadian politicians to Power Corp, most of them Liberals. The Parliamentary restaurant subsidies have to go. In fact, close it down. Ottawa has restaurants. Why is the government competing with the private sector.     Yeah, me too. I think it’s perfectly consistent with his America First policy. Not long after WW2, the U.S. started out to try to help 3rd world countries get into the 20th century. That effort has continued for more than 70 years. In large part, this was based on the belief that in doing so, the world would be a more peaceful place. Well, that worked to a large degree. China and India, the countries containing most of the worlds population now feel they have something to lose in a major war. The Germans and the Japanese are industrial powerhouses. There are many other examples as well. But in accomplishing this end, the U.S. handicapped it’s own industries and people. Clearly, the world has changed and it has become time to reexamine the previous strategy. It’s hypocritical for Forbes not to see the larger picture. And hypocritical for you as well.

    Psht… Mandarin is the language of 1 billion people and thus is 1st on the list of spoken languages by far. But then they probably offer that as well in Alberta??? Surprisingly, Spanish is the second most common with English third….. or so they say. French isn’t in the top ten.
    In any case, I guess they have to employ these arab speakers somewhere. That solves the problem for 3 or 4 of them. What about the rest?

  38. Why would they do that? Are we trying to keep Muslims separate and functioning in their own enclaves? This is not healthy. I can see offering an Arabic language class, but we do not offer bilingual programs in anything but English and French. This is divisive.

  42. The piece I read in the National Post used the term ‘bilingual’ and ‘languages arts’.
    Maybe that means immersion but I don’t think so.
    As I stated above there are a lot more serious problems in public education than a new language arts program.
