Pride float against Sharia law a go in '11, no in '17

Born in Iran, Shirazi immigrated to Vancouver where he became a founding member of Cirque de So Gay, an activist group of gay and transgender Middle Eastern men. For several years, the group marched in the Pride Parade and even won an award for their originality. But this year, its application was rejected as "culturally insensitive."

It seems to me that these "inclusive" events have been more about excluding people of late.

Wow. I did not believe there could be anyone more immune to being chided by the pc pearl clutchers than a gay muslim man. Especially one marching in all that hotness that is a pride parade.

I just can't wait for the day when feminists formally tell their Muslim sisters "tough shit" when they cry out about their basic human rights being denied by Islamic law. We can already see here how willing gays are to throw fellow gays under the deadly Muslim bus.

The delusional leftist propaganda machine will eventually have NO OPTION but to choose sides when western gays and women finally wake up to the evilness of the Islamic invasion and Shariah Law. It should be both ugly and entertaining to witness.

The left's very own civil war has started and it will be bloody.

Even the queers hate Muslims.

As you point out the irony of excluding Muslims from a gay pride parade. I point out the irony of such a parade in the first place...thrown together to announce sexuality by those who continuously claim to want to be treated just like everyone else (while "everyone else" doesn't feel the urge to march down a street saying telling everyone their sexual proclivities).

Take a back seat gays, you have moved down a notch on the inclusive totem pole.
But please continue to celebrate diversity when it is politically correct or advantageous as determined
by your semi-progressive government.

Perhaps knowing that the Jihad has them in their sights, the added enticement of apostates in their midst might just inspire an event. OTOH, they might simply be pissed that in the pecking order of identity politics, they have been displaced by Muslims even though the Spawn is their most reliable fellow celebrity marcher. Maybe he'll be banned next.

The frothing Anti-First Amendment (AntiFA) crowed will always embrace terrorists of all stripes willing to help tear down western civilization.

Otherwise the masochistic leftovers are exactly as they appear, mentally ill degenerates. It's unfortunate that society has allowed them the power to destroy everything earned by our betters over the last few centuries.

Another intersectionality car crash.

So then, while the PROG's rail against "Nazi's" and look for a Nazi under every rock, and hiding in the darkness ... they actually WELCOME and DEFEND the "Nazism" of Muslim Sharia Law. I see the problem for the PROG's ... Muslim Nazism has a different name ... its called Sharia. Nazism ... Sharia. Yep they're very different sounding words for virtually the same dehumanizing totalitarian system. That can be a real brain tease for the PROG-nation. I guess all the women shuffling around in personal black tents, forbidden from education, and the execution of random opponents wasn't enough of a clue. I guess their shared obsession for executing Jews wasn't enough of a clue. I guess their shared obsession for pushing the Jews into the sea wasn't enough of a clue. I guess they are going to need another object-lesson, like the one that took place 9-11-2001 to sort out the similarity between these two systems of HATE. Sad. PROG's have "progressed" right past the basic human instinct for survival. Oh well ... soon-enough ... the PROG's 1st world problems will transform into 3rd world problems ... before they even know what hits them.

Progressive liberals are telling gay Muslim men to shut up about Islamic violence against homosexuality. So, basically they're opening up the closet door and insisting gay Muslims stay in there. Not surprised. Progressive liberals have no core principles nor loyalty to allies who become problematic.

As mentioned in the article, the compete covering of women's faces and bodies may not be free choice. There is certainly some degree of religious brainwashing, coercion and even threats. I'm not sure how progressives who claim to be sophisticated and nuanced can look at Islamic countries and orthodox Islamic communities in the west and not see any evidence of this. Yet, at the same time they see sexism and microaggression everywhere else. I'm all for free choice in fashion but I'm not convinced that completely obscuring your identity is entirely a free choice. At least, no more than hiding being gay in Islamic countries and orthodox Islamic communities is free choice.

"...they're opening up the closet door and insisting gay Muslims stay in there"

Many would be shocked at the rampant homosexuality in the Arab/ Islamic Middle Eastern world. Any westerner living & working in the ME knows this very well and has probably witnessed it first hand.

This homosexuality has evolved over centuries with extreme lack of access to women, reserved for the wealthy and used as reward booty for "warriors". Rape and gang raping of women is very common with laws protecting the rapist men. Alternately homosexuality is condemned by death only in that it helps maintain control of many millions of Jihadi martyrs by rewarding women either in life or death.

The 70 virgins in heaven for martyrdom is a prime example.

In the hierarchy of political correctness, gays are rather high, but radical islam is at the top. The pride parade is only conforming to that caste system, no matter how contradictory and suicidal it obviously is.

Just another demonstration on the total illogical reality of their worldview.

the middle east is inherently homophobic and antisemitic....and liberals insist we should get a major islamic injection as if it will improve our country.

you've gotta love the irony and, more to the point, hypocrisy of
the lunatic left.

they can't even bring themselves to criticize a violent medieval
theocracy that celebrates throwing gay men off high buildings
or throws stones at women until they're dead.

their mindless hero-worship of ndp eugenicist tommy
douglas speaks to their lack of historical awareness.

marching in lockstep screaming socialist argle-bargle
is their real forte.

I have never read that homosexuality is rampant in the ME. I have read that it's considered ok if you are giving instead of receiving because only the receiver is considered feminine and gay. I've no idea if that or your statements are true though. It's certainly not unusual that a sexually repressed culture or religion can create sexual dysfunction and sexual violence.

Purely anecdotal but my relatives mother was living in the ME (I can't remember which one)with her husband who was working there as doctor for two years. They lived in a compound but she did get escorted trips to town and she was surprised by the amount of male public masturbation. Rather humorously on her part, the large insects encountered during an Australian medical work exchange trip bothered her more than that.

I once saw a cartoon explaining the '72 virgins' was a typo.
it is actually '72 Virginians' like Thomas Jefferson and the revolutionary heros, beating the shyt out of some newly arrived 'martyr'.
funny stuff.

anyways, this development is nothing. give it another decade or 2 and the convolutions of who supports and opposes who on the left are going to take a supercomputer to untangle.

High rates of alcoholism is another big "secret" in places where Muslims have access to alcohol.

Here is a read:

"Although not overtly discussed and acknowledged, and despite being forbidden by law, same-sex relations and homoerotic love, as well as pederasty, were widely practised across Middle Eastern societies for many centuries."

"It seems to me that these "inclusive" events have been more about excluding people of late.

They've always been about exclusion. The exclusion of normality and how the world is to operate.

"Vancouver Pride Society’s co-executive director Andrea Arnot said in an interview that organizers thought Cirque de So Gay made light of a nuanced issue."

I'm really hating that word "nuanced". It's moral cowardice, not "nuance", that informed Vancouver Pride Society’s decision. It is especially ironic given that so many members of the gay community had to have courage and strength over the years to overcome deeply entrenched religious bias in the west, but now some of their own members are abandoning that anti-bias stance.

So I guess that if Cirque de So Gay wants to protest against a religious bias, they should target Christianity... because Christianity = biased, Islam = nuanced. Pathetic.

I skimmed the article you provided and it reaffirmed my experience that these papers use far too many words to say very little. Lots about the history of same sex relations and postcolonialism vs. humanist reasons for the violence against gays in the ME and the changing mores and definitions of homosexuality but no data or numbers. Not the type of paper I'd find persuasive.

Ultimately my objection is that progressive liberals are not really committed to consistently applying human rights and individual rights either in western or non-western nations. They prefer a hierarchy of rights that moves on a whim. Free speech, free association, property rights, gay rights, women's rights etc. should not be dependent on identity politics points and one fundamental right should not be subordinate to another fundamental right because of your political affiliation, skin color, sexuality or gender. Being consistent is not only easier but it avoids the internal contradictions and logically inconsistent mess of progressive identity politics. The endorsement of political violence and shutting down opposing views flows from the hierarchical structure of rights - it becomes a cage match.

Calgary Pa-ride organizers banned the UCP, tho celebrity spokesperson k.d.lang personally invited UCP leadership candidate Jason Kenny. He claimed to be too busy.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah...

You couldn't make this stuff up.

Or, as the ex-Stasi colonel said in the Clive Owen film The International:

"Well, this is the difference between truth and fiction. Fiction has to make sense."

LC Bennett:

Yup that's fine, although I am also writing from personal experience. I'm not here to convince only to lay it out. With your discerning skepticism you should probably book a trip and spend some time in the ME/ NA and see for yourself, as many of us already have.
