How Far Left Can The Democrats Go?

In America, if one remains in the echo chamber of the “Progressive” Left, one would be absolutely convinced that the Republicans will get decimated in the 2018 and 2020 elections. However, if the reporting of the Washington Examiner is any indication, they may need to lose a few more elections before they see the light.

It didn’t help that Clinton failed to show up in a part of the country where showing up matters. Barack Obama had to campaign hard and in-person to win Iowa twice. Clinton campaigned in Iowa cities such as Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, while ignoring rural Iowa.
But Clinton aversion only partially explains how a county that voted for Obama by 21 points in 2012 then voted for Trump by 21 points four years later.

Even a first year political science student knows that a 42% swing in one election cycle is a strong indication that the voters aren’t buying what the losing party has been selling. But the Democrats are being run by a Far Left elite, with Antifa foot soldiers on the streets, and legions of online social justice warriors who seem to get triggered if one asserts that 2 + 2 = 4. It doesn’t seem likely that such extremists can accept Americans who believe in meritocracy, gun ownership, and other traditional American values.

  1. Yeah, it’s such a mystery. For some reason transgender bathrooms, the mayhem of BLM, high taxes, Russia Russia Russia just isn’t resonating with the American people.
The Repubs though – and I don’t consider DJT a Repub – are really only The Party That Sucks Less in my book with their inability to advance not one single policy that DJT ran on.

  2. First year political science students would be wise to study political commentary from 2010 – 2014 where pundits mused the death of the Republican Party and the likelihood that they would never return to power. Lot’s of evidence including demographics, use of social media, increase in Hispanic population, tendency of blacks to always vote democrat, female voting preferences. Now we have pundits claiming the democrats are toast and will continue their slide into 2020. My question is, can Donald Trump get re-elected in 2020? I don’t think he can. Because he will be running against 2 parties.
Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell doesn’t think Donald Trump realizes (I would use the word “appreciates”) how useless the house and senate really are.

  3. Clinton failed to show up in Iowa….because no one was showing up to her rallies there

  4. Technically, they’d be moving right, per the political theory scale of political ideology. For the most part, they are already there. Progressivism lands on the far right in the authoritarian model. Everything they push is about increasing the size, scope, and power of the government, particularly the federal government.
Interestingly, the Useful Idiots never seem to realize that all the bad things that accompany Progressive (nice fascist) policy will affect their own lives.

  5. Given their rhetoric, the Republicans should have passed tax cuts and repealed Obamacrae the first week of January.
But they didn’t. They’re voting like DemocRats. To their own detriment, it should be noted.
So, it seems that the game is different than what we all assumed. I get the feeling that if the Republicans walked their talk, some three letter government agency would arrange for Something Bad to happen to them all, one at a time and in slow motion.
Just look at what’s happening to Trump right now. Grand jury.
There aren’t really two parties in the USA. There’s really only one.
And really, given Charlotte yesterday, the DemocRats can go as far Left as they want, as fast as they want. They’ve laid the groundwork, they’ve got the urban centers locked up. They’ve already abandoned the ballot box and taken to the streets. Their grass-roots candidate is Bernie the Commie, who openly proposes nationalizing the oil industry.
Ponder that, for a moment. Nationalizing the American oil industry.
And he can do it. He’s like the Red Skull. Word of the DemocRat’s demise is greatly exaggerated.

  6. The 42% swing is due to Trump not Republicans. Why do people still, two years after his entrance into the arena, have no idea? This isn’t rocket science.

  7. Libtards are exactly like drug addicts that use again the very next day after an OD.
They couldn’t care less about facing how dead wrong they are, they just want to keep on living in their happy little ignorance bubble.

  8. “The 42% swing is due to Trump not Republicans.”
Trumps inner circle needs to start looking for candidates for next year’s midterms. The Republicans that abandoned him need to find a new line of work. And if crazy McCain isn’t going to die, at least resign.

  9. I tend to agree with your analysis … however … the Republicans are NOTHING without Trump. period. If they believe he can be summarily tossed overboard, and replaced by the likes of McConnell, Ryan, and a resurrected Bush … they are out of their minds. The Republicans will thrive ONLY as a THIRD party, as an Alt. Right Party. That is the ONLY reason an ‘R’ sits in the White House. Because Trump is NOT a Republican. In another 3-1/2 years … Trump will continue to pile up so much WINNING (irregardless of Obamakkare, and tax reform … for which a Rep. Congress is responsible) that he will CRUSH whatever Communist the Democrats choose to run. The American people voted for swamp draining. Voted for chopping off the tentacles of a monstrous Federal Govt. that has intertwined its suction cups into every phase of American life. And when the FAKE “Russian” investigation ends with some fringe Trump associate being punished for failing to report “Russian” income … and fizzles out … the Democraps will be finished. They will be proven to be pathetic losers who couldn’t even fabricate their way to victory.

  10. I fully agree that the notion that the Democrats are done is nonsense. For politics is very much like a pendulum perpetually swinging back & forth. And the sad reality of politics around the world is that people most often vote against someone, rather than for someone.
However, as the article clearly states, the current Democrat narrative excludes huge swaths of former Democrat voters in all but the large urban areas. Much like the Tories in Canada had to lose countless elections before they smartened up and changed their pitch, it’s likely that Democrats will face the same fate until at least 2024 … assuming that Trump can continue to improve the economy.

  11. Reasons for Hillary Clinton to hate you:

    • you don’t write for the NYT
    • you don’t work for CNN
    • you once wrote something that was not about the Clintons
    • you reported the local weather, and did not thank Hillary for the nice day
    • you wrote something about the Clintons, that was not hagiography
    • you don’t live in one of the good neighbourhoods of NY city
    • you didn’t give her at least one million dollars
    • you would not be happy to give your life for anything Hillary wanted
    • you have not given your soul to Hillary Clinton
    • you have callouses on your hands from doing physical labor
    • you don’t acknowledge that Hillary Clinton is an actual deity, and do not worship her as such
    • you picked Obama over her
    • you picked McCain/Palin over her
    • you would pick any fatal disease over her
    • you watched a football game on TV instead of going to a Clinton rally
    • your life does not revolve around the Clintons
    • if you lived in Clintontown, you would refuse the Kool-aid when ordered to drink it

Are there any photographs of Clinton and the Reverend Jones? I am thinking, there probably are.

  12. The mushy middle controls the politics. Both Parties overlap into that electorate. The GOP can’t agree on a replacement for Obamacare because the Dems poisoned the well by increasing the appetite for “free” health care via Medicaid while forcing premiums into the stratosphere of the Insurance pools to cover the uninsurable pre-existing conditions. The GOP Congress consists of a representative political continuum from Rand Paul and the freedom caucus to progressives beholden to the centre-left. Trump acts like he can be above that but he owes his own success to the same mushy middle rejecting the coastal elite candidacy of the evil Mrs. Clinton but supportive of his promise of prosperity through protectionism. I suspect that the coastal elite still controls the DEMs which may continue their far-left trajectory. The question is will they go for a popular socialist like Bernie or another Hillary-like candidate like Elizabeth Warren. In today’s culture, I could see Sanders winning.

  13. Like him or not, Obama was a good orator and he has style, his politics and ethics suck, but he is good at telling people what they want to hear. Clinton just sucks all round, her only redeeming political asset was her vagina.

  14. Hillary has noticed that Mother Teresa was Sainted.. She now has decided she wants to go into the Saint Business.. She will skip the lepers & substitute Russian Circus dwarfs.. Especially those with nick names like HORSE…
You can’t make these things up!
