Showing Up To Riot

"If I've learned one thing from Donald Trump's election it's that we can ignore the political pundits telling us we must play nice with the press--even when they're crooked and dishonest."

Indeed.

Now if only conservative(?) Canadian politicians could learn this lesson.

Why is there almost always the assumption that when Trump talks about grabbing things, it is an assault rather than something welcomed? In my younger days I grabbed a few without objection. When deciding who to support, is a BSer like Trump worse than a rape enabler like Clinton? I don't think so.

Trump has historically bad job approval, and the Dems are possibly on course to take back the house. The pollsters were right in 2016 they're probably right now, so this notion that 'the media' don't matter and can be spurned is just a delusion. Pure and simple. Trump is a temporary fluke whose main accomplishment will be to hand power back the Dems and progs and turn the next back of youth to the left. Bush redux IOW.

Oh and Trump's 'transformation' of rural America pales in comparison to the transformation wrought by economics. Rural America is simply more and more obsolete. That's why it's depopulating. Urban cosmopolitanism is the crucible and foundry of wealth creation and cultural trend-setting, and there's no reason to believe that will change.

This article really does confirm that the Trump Thang is a dysfunctional cult of whiny, thin-skinned and delusional baby-boomers who spent too much time in Backwater, Nowhere.

The Laurentian Elite let them know how it works pretty quick and most become part of the establishment.

The press has always been crooked and dishonest...they are just more hysterical now and out in the open now as they feel that their ideology was on the verge of a complete takeover of society with a Hillary win. How dare the unwashed support one, even among the RHINO candidates, not chosen by them.

Andrew Scheer, please take note.

Please, enlighten us as to the Dems strategy/message they will employ to take back the house, as the 4 special house seat elections did not go their way.

Keep banking on Trump's failure. You are stuck with him for 8 years.

The sooner you learn to live with it the better

They'll probably go with 'not Trump OR Clinton'. It could easily work.

"Keep banking on Trump's failure."

Worked out so far. No tax reform, no healthcare reform. You'd notice this if you were results oriented rather than feelings oriented.

It never fails that the winning side of the latest American popularity contest starts beating their chest and shouting THOUSAND YEAR REICH and it never fails that they hit the floor a few years later. Now this hubris is back and stupider than ever with conservatives expecting a mentally ill unlettered lifelong Democrat to hand them the keys to power everlasting.

What is interesting is that the Republicans passed a new health care bill every week while Obama was president but can't come up with any at all when they know Trump will sign it. Why are Republicans afraid to be conservatives when that's what got them elected?

Republicans in Congress assembled are afraid to get things done.

They are afraid of possible blowback from repealing Obamacare, how it would be spun that Republicans want Grandma to die, or how poor little Billy will suffer if he can't be covered by his parents when he's 25 and living in their basement. They have the thinnest of skins, and worry what people who didn't support them will say, while the people who did support them are ignored and demoralized by their lack of backbone.

They need to repeal the ACA in its entirety. Then they need legislation that opens up the insurance market nationwide regardless of State borders. Finally, they need legislation to make possible large purchasing groups (Health Unions) to negotiate prices and manage care and supplies for people to join with existing, chronic conditions.

Insurance is for acute conditions and occurrences. If you have a chronic or recurring condition, you need something else. Insurance needs to cover emergencies. Health Unions need to cover chronic conditions. Health Savings Accounts need to cover elective treatment and normal, foreseeable events, like pregnancies, cosmetics surgery, and minor illness.

You'll never be convinced, Unme.
You see the similarities but completely ignore the differences.
You've made up your mind about Trump, and nothing is going to change that but cold hard reality.
I actually look forward to watching your transfiguration as Trump becomes more successful, wins his second term, and becomes recognized as one of the best Presidents the US has ever had.
By then, you'll be telling us that you knew it all along.

The projection...the irony....the lack of self-awareness.

"Republicans in Congress assembled are afraid to get things done. "

Not so much that. They're just incompetent and like conservatism, they have no real philosophical core.

The GOP was already useless before the Trumpening, which will probably accelerate their decline to a rump in a generation or so. Time for The Federalist Party. It's our only chance.

The pollsters were right in 2016 they're probably right now

The pollsters were right in 2016? Name one pollster who predicted that Donald Trump would win the election.

They all predicted Hillary would be up +3 +/- MOE and she was within that MOE. It was the pundits who got it wrong EXCEPT for Nate Silver (PBUH). Liberals were mad at him for taking Trump seriously. All Nate was doing was what he always did: objectively analyzing the data.

If the Dem's or the GOPe's believe that the Trump voter can be shoved back into the backwater towns from whence they came, they have another thing coming. As is typical with TRUE revolutions (not all the FAKE, fabricated ones invented by the Left) ... the other side never sees them coming. Trump's presidency is revolutionary. He is America's FIRST modern 3rd Party candidate to win the Presidency. His WINN is empowering disenfranchised voters throughout our nation. The more obstruction, foot-dragging, FAKE investigations, and chaff launched at OUR President ... the more isolated and irrelevant the establishment becomes. One only need consider the mainstream media ... they're DONE. FINISHED. The people will NEVER take their editorials, let alone "news" seriously ever again. They sh*t on the hand that feeds them for too long. So, they can take all their "falling approval ratings" and stack them up with "HER 99.7% chance of victory".

The establishment (both R and D) appear to believe they can run out the clock on Trump (and his voters), then return to "normal". Return to establishmentarianism business as usual. They are delusional. Trump's voters are clear eyed and clear minded. We know EXACTLY who is doing the foot-dragging and blocking of our President. If the weak-kneed GOPe's think they will thwart Trump and return to the globalist, corporatist, anti-American malaise ... they've got another thing coming. And the Dems have simply made themselves totally irrelevant outside the hardcore leftist enclaves.

Trump is just the START.

Another idiot hoping for American misery, the means justifying the end of removing Trump in favour of a seditious, arrogant and hypocritical left.

That includes a bunch of self-absorbed and ideologically addled RINOs, like Unonothing, who think a party that stands for nothing but undermining America has any chance of regaining power, which btw is their stock in trade. Not liberty, but power.

Our progressive political pagans were pining for Canada to collapse under the leadership of PMSH. When that didn't happen, they simply made it up.

Just like the Demobrats and their violent do-gooder enablers. The people will decide, not them or you, so those predictions are therefore meaningless.

yup Trump will keep triumphing and UnMe will have to change his name again

Polls still cooked..same ones said Hillary was 90% sure to win
Democrats polled overweighted, in NY DC area ...natch...go look
Trump at 50% approval in counties he won...go look
CNN in freefall
many other fake newsers laying off
still absolute zero proof of Russian collusion
after 1 year they have 1 email, 1 lousy meeting with Donny Jr and a ""Russian Spy ""

@unme: I never get tired of pointing out that the most unpopular President in U.S. history was elected in 1860. So unpopular that fear of assassination required him to literally sneak into Washington. So unpopular that 11 states succeeded from the Union. Although pilloried, hectored, and mocked by a good part of the press for the next 3 years, he managed to stay firm. Yeah, A. Lincoln..... the renegade Republican.

@Grey: Have to admit I think you are mostly right. One thing I've noticed is that mainstream press coverage on the Health care issue is very vague. Now why is that?

Also, I'm not buying this Urban/Rural divide. It's another sales job (another "division") by the press. I don't live in a big city but just as certain not in the rural countryside......it's a county of 1.7 million people with heavily populated counties surrounding. I consider myself living in an Urban area. Lots of Trump supporters here. We need to stop letting the press define us.

no no Kate, the headline is 'showing up to ROT'.
hard core lefties don't consider the self, ie the 'I' in the equation. its all groupthink.
we need to make Orwell's '1984' mandatory reading starting in grade 3. unless THATS been fcuked up as well.

Polls never calculated the % chance Hillary had of winning, that was people like Silver. Silver was the only one who did a good job. The polls accurate predicted Hillary's % of the vote. You really have no idea what you're talking about/

@Another Ian: LOL Breitbart talking about junk journalism. That's the infinitely deep gravity well calling the kettle black

You are so full of shit. The polls predicted her to win the presidency. The people doing polling are not as stupid as they appear, just devious. The PhDs doing the polling understood the state by state wins required to win and quoted such regularly. Crap, they had Hillary winning the popular vote by as much as 10 %.

"You are so full of shit."

H/T scar!

The Country really needs a Grand Jury indictment to reset the angst, or you are right.. and the first 1000 body bags filled will help start the reset, don't want to be near CNN....

The little fool at Justice can't even get the KEY to his private bathroom. they make him use the public rooms... Why Trump selected a "weak" little fool (Forrest Gump) like Jeff Sessions is a mystery...

Adding this one to the mix to see what crabs it draws.

"Over half of Americans believe that the Democratic Party does not stand for anything except opposing President Donald Trump, according to a new poll conducted by The Washington Post and ABC."

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/07/17/poll-over-half-americans-think-democratic-party-stands-for-nothing-but-opposing-trump/

@scar - that is a fantastic point. After a good few weeks of flirting, one evening I sidled up to this amazing chick, liplocked her and ....
pretty much effectively grabbed her by the p****....you know, to move things along...

8 years and four kids later. Happily married.

Seriously, the only thing that will ever fix this leftist BS permanently is mass executions. There is simply no other way. Queen Elizabeth I knew a thing or two about dealing with sedition.

Oh look SDA commenters don't know the difference between a poll and models/guesses based on those polls. SHOCKING

Educate yourselves, if you can read: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-fivethirtyeight-gave-trump-a-better-chance-than-almost-anyone-else/

Did 538 have Trump winning the election?

f y'all want to spend sometime reading the thought development of a Liberal/Progressive type New Yorker; not just the periodical's name; but the skilful word-smith supported by liberal/democrat party support; this is your opportunity.

I leave you to form your thought development except to say I do not recall reading anything about Trump/Russia.

Could you pleas state what Andrew Scheer should take not of?
