  1. It’s already over: Canadians don’t care about Khadr enough to move polls, and Scheer is already a loser.
    http://nationalpost.com/news/politics/emerging-polling-trend-suggests-khadr-settlement-may-not-have-hurt-liberals-after-all/wcm/387208e0-45ed-4290-9a7a-922ab463c516
Liberals are out polling the CPC by ~10 points and the gap between Trudeau and Scheer is FAR bigger. The right had an opportunity and blew it. The Liberals will be in power for quite some time.

  2. While the wife was getting set up with a new cell phone, I used the store display models and opened Web pages that told the truth about pm socks then moved onto another one.

  3. Scheer has been in office for 2 months and 9 hours (Saskatchewan time) so could we maybe give him a little more time to close that gap. And Trudeau still has to deal with NAFTA and Donald Trump.
    Thank You.

  4. Consider when Khadr 6/49 made the news. It’s mid-summer and people have other things on their mind. No wonder it slipped in under the radar.

  5. The CPC will continue to fight the good fight from 1956,with the eerily Harpo Marx-like Andrew Scheer at the helm and garner an amazing 102 seats to Trudeau’s 183.
    Khadr? Yesterday’s news.
The CPC fails to understand the new paradigm, we will have to be as broke and demoralized as Venezuela before the masses will even consider voting out the new Cover of the Rolling Stone.
And even then with a few photo-ops and selfies all hurt feelings can be soothed by the guy 40% of Americans want to be their President.
It’s a great time to be old with one foot in the grave.

  6. It’s a great time to be old with one foot in the grave.
Indeed. Current events make me glad I never married or had any children.

  7. we will have to be as broke and demoralized as Venezuela
Nah. It’ll never happen. Mr. Rolling Stoned assured us that the budget will balance itself and don’t forget where the economy will grow out from.

  8. Creepy Clown:
Who are all those alleged pollsters getting their info??
I’m 67, soon 68. I’ve only been polled twice in my life. Once when Stephen Harper first ran for office, and once when I was about 20. The caller asked if I preferred Coke or Pepsi. I told him my Dad had a Coca-Cola vending machine, so we drank Coke. (My Dad owned a filling station.) The bastard hung up on me.
We had the business for almost 50 years. We refused to sell Pepsi until the day it was sold. The new owners sell both, however Coke is still way ahead.
My Dad voted for John Diefenbaker, and I’m still voting CPC today.

  9. Sorry Creepy, that should read: ”Who are all those alleged pollsters and where are they getting their info??

  10. Knew it! Snopes has always seemed fraudulent to me.
    —————-
David Mikkelson has told the Daily Mail that Snopes does not have a “standardized procedure” for fact-checking “since the nature of this material can vary widely.”
He said the process of fact-checking “‘involves multiple stages of editorial oversight, so no output is the result of a single person’s discretion.”
Snopes has no formal requirements for fact-checkers, he told the London paper, because the variety of the work “would be difficult to encompass in any single blanket set of standards.”
Mikkelson has denied that Snopes takes any political position, but the Daily Mail noted his new wife ran for U.S. congress in Hawaii as a Libertarian in 2004.

The cultural Marxist/post-modernism targets men and the male role in maintaining
Western Civilization. The role of men in the family, in producing wealth, in maintaining the nation-state, freedom under the rule of law based on individual Rights and Responsibilities.
Prof. Peterson’s lectures attract a largely younger male audience, who in order to defend and maintain the most free, productive and humane civilization in human history, have to take up their responsibilities.
    This is your draft notice!
Man up, protect the human family and the institutions that support it on a larger scale. It’s the oldest call to arms. The sword slung over the shoulder sometimes weighs so much… well as the saying goes, we all have our cross to bear.

  12. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, collusion:
    http://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/2017/07/25/fbi-investigating-smashed-hard-drives-from-wasserman-schultz-it-workers-home-pakistani-brothers-report.html
According to a report by The Daily Caller, the FBI has seized smashed hard drives from the home of an IT worker employed by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.). And at the center of the investigation are three Pakistani brothers who have worked for Democratic lawmakers.
“The suspects in this probe are people who worked for a long time for Democratic members in the House… brothers named Imran Awan, Abid Awan and Jamal Awan and they are criminal suspects, they worked for, Imran worked for Debbie Wasserman Schultz for a long time,” Daily Caller investigative reporter Luke Rosiak told the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney.
The large sums of money Imran Awan’s family received when he got the job with Schultz raised suspicions as well.
“Soon after this guy Imran started working for Debbie Wasserman Schultz all of his relatives appeared on the payroll and they collected $4 million, very unusual.”

  13. “Canadian system may already have been judged unworkable and investment in new major energy projects reallocated to other jurisdictions.”
The Canadian Supreme Court are/is inconsistent…Yes investment is leaving any Country that does not have a definable “rule of law” and the USA is ramping up Manufacturing that needs reliable energy support..
Canada gets cancellations & Trump announces Wisconsin manufacturing. The writing is on the wall Canada… Silly feelings by the Black robes are a expensive construct purely based on emotion…
The Parliament of Canada has the power to define LAWS, and correct overreach by the Courts…It is time to stomp them when they become foolish…The decline will be fatal, .40 dollar

  14. when we start voting for the supreme court and abolish parliament we would be no better off and nothing would change. the parliament buildings could be turned into a B&B and the members into bus boys and girls.

  15. don;
The CPC can dwell on a $10 mil payout to some terrorist yet they cannot build a case on their supposed strengths with the Canadian voters. In my mind they are not even trying. What are the fundamentals of this Party?
34% of the Ontario GDP is based on housing construction! Does no one in power see a problem with that? Critical economic weaknesses in the Canadian economy go unaddressed. If the CPC was doing their homework they would be establishing cred with the population by discussing the threats to the Canadian economy as it edges towards disaster.
Industrial development does not center simply on university think tanks. I guess the assumption is that another Blackberry will arise from the ashes and employ millions. Millions at a wage than can support the spending that most Canadians are doing.
Meanwhile back on the western ranch $100’s of billions of investment is lost with no national discussion. What happened in Rupert is written off to ‘market’ conditions. I have not heard this much BS in years. The economic life blood of Canada can be stripped away and it generates no debate. Where is the leadership? There is none. My experience with the CPC, the party of business, is that they cannot write a business plan and if they did they do not have enough street smarts to implement effectively. Do party members realize that CIMS, the party software program, is still not doing its job after what 16 years?
I have not been involved with the CPC for many years now but I think my critic is still valid. IMHO they have made little effort to engage the grass roots since their election loss. They do not have the tools or philosophy to engage. Make fun of Turdeau for being a drama teacher? Where does the CPC rank in that scale?

  16. Dah – it was evident we would be stuck with him when he was “anointed ” leader and it was for at least 2 terms . As for the “cash for terrorism ” it was well thought out and timed and constructed to avoid it’s seizure by any legal means . Because, you know , following the law and constitution is so important – no matter how narrow the parameters.

  17. The Liberals built no “case” in the last election. They simply attacked — some how convincing Canadians that the Duffy matter was a real “scandal”, and that Conservatives were bigots for attempting to stand up for Canadian values. The media was in no way balanced in its coverage. The Conservatives will have some ammunition for doing the same in the next election. Trudeau has a very weak cabinet and they are making a lot of mistakes. I don’t think voters pay a lot of attention to carefully built arguments. They simply vote with their guts.

  18. LindaL;
To a degree I can agree. My argument might center more around the need for the base to have a philosophical element that can evaluate options. When, not if, the crunch comes all options will be on the table and voters will have to make tough choices. If those choices are framed in a subjective manner then I suspect the duration of reform will be prolonged and likely will take directions that none of us can imagine.
One only has to study how FaceBook and Google manipulate their users to understand how the same process is being used by media and politicians. It is an area fraught with serious threats to society and democracy.

  19. Also keep in mind next year all the tax credits go away and the full impact of the increases will be felt. Last tax season it was already pretty common for low information types to bitch about their tax return being much smaller. Can’t quite figure out why that’d be…. Anyway Trudeau’s toast.

  21. As I’ve already told you, the polls were accurate.
It’s clear that most of you people are incapable of learning from the past particularly in Ontario, CT and like one other guy aside. You wouldn’t be conservatives if your head wasn’t up your asses.

  22. Now look, say what you want about the environment, but we can’t have “pollution” causing girlie fish. Just so you know, this is “good” science (wink, wink):
“Fish becoming transgender from contraceptive pill chemicals being flushed down household drains.”
No mention of levels of chemicals or how this causes transsexual fish to emerge, apparently one in five, who seem shy and act depressed.
‘Cause that what happens to people, so it must be happening to the fish, many now “feminized.” For referent terminology, google “pajama boy.”
Check out their rigorous and disciplined research methodology. This is real faked science folks. Create a conclusion, fit in your assumptions. Flawless.
“Using specially created transgenic fish that allow us to see responses to these chemicals in the bodies of fish in real time, for example, we have shown that oestrogens found in some plastics affect the valves in the heart.”
In these fish? They now have bad tickers? Again what were the estrogen and other chemicals in these fish?
“Tests showed 20 per cent of male freshwater fish, such as roach, at 50 sites had feminine characteristics.”
More than 200 chemicals from sewage plants have been identified with oestrogen-like effects and drugs such as antidepressants are also altering fish’s natural behaviour, his study found.”
“Other research has shown that many other chemicals that are discharged through sewage treatment works can affect fish, including antidepressant drugs that reduce the natural shyness of some fish species, including the way they react to predators,” Professor Tyler said.”
Junk science imitates life. Fish life. Girlie fish life. Someone please tell me this is a hoax and not funded by taxpayers.

  26. Trudeau was polling very poorly until just a few weeks before the election.
Furthermore, it’s all about the NDP.
You can sum-up today’s Canadian politics with one rule of thumb.
Voters who switch between the NDP and the LPC determine Canadian Federal Elections. Full Stop.
At this point… It don’t matter who is in charge, regardless of the party. The ONLY thing that matters is the percentage of the vote split.

  27. Oh BS. The CPC has done better and could do better, and all the parties could try to engage with voters who didn’t vote in the last election.

  28. “I don’t think voters pay a lot of attention to carefully built arguments. They simply vote with their guts.”
Yes, a goodly portion of voters vote based on their emotions, and that is exactly my point;the CPC is preparing to run another election based on “we are better stewards of the economy than the Liberals”,and only a small percentage of voters give a damn.
The paradigm has changed and the CPC is still stuck in the days when The Greatest Generation were still a force in elections. So, to battle against a handsome, charming but no-brain actor who is Mr.Popularity at every event in the world, the CPC chooses a nerdy looking guy who isn’t an inspiring speaker and depending on the angle of the photographer, looks much like a young Zero Mostel or Harpo Marx.
To serious voters, looks mean nothing, but again, the paradigm has changed, and now looks are hugely important.Voters want to be seduced, not lectured and scolded by their Dad-like accountant, and Scheer and the CPC will continue to beat the drum of “the economy” while Trudeau charms the masses and wins another majority.
Perhaps the CPC should consult with one of the Mulroney kids, Ben and Caroline are both attractive and can connect with the masses,as both are far more accomplished than Justin Trudeau was until he became PM.
It shouldn’t have come to this point, but after fifty years of brainwashing in our education system, people today seem to have little ability to think logically.
So if they want a pretty face.let’s give ’em a pretty face.It might just work.

  29. All points considered I submit the following
1-voters will vote either for subjective (emotional) reasons or objective (logical) reasons.
2- there was a shift in the vote from the NDP to the LPC last election as proven by the number of sests the NDP lost and how many the LPC gained.
3 – those that vote objectively can very rarely be persuaded to change thier vote, but those that vote subjectively can be.
4 – those that vote with their emotions will be less inclined to vote for someone they feel ill will towards. If they believe some event such as economic downturn or violence was due to the individual seeking election or re-election the inclination for the subjective voter is to change their vote and for the objective if its their previously preferred candidate..stay home on election day.
    Summarized
Juthtins electability is the idea that he’s loved by all and by extention Canada is too. That was the contrast last election Harper upsetting the natural order of Canada as the go along to get along folks. If that “perception” is deconstructed his odds at re election are not good. Going toe to toe on platform won’t matter because those tgat vote with their heart wouldn’t care if he said he admired communist dictatorships or paid tribute to a murdering despot on his passing.
If you want to beat him you have to demonstrate that he isn’t as nice as he pretends to be. Note the stress has to be that he is pretentious. He pretends to care about women but won’t hesitate to elbow one in the chest, or denounce FGM, or that Tabatha Spears gets her day in court.
Its not a matter of policy, conservatives have that in spades, its about convincing the voters that Juthtin is just acting, he doesn’t care about anyone but himself.
    Proof?
The last G20 I seem to recall a video of him being ignored. It appears the other world leaders see him for what he is..its time Canadians did to.
