About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

On the other hand, one might argue to never ever, ever, ever hire someone who can do no more with a liberal arts degree than move cables for the SEC Network.

but what else is a lib arts degree good for? nothing really useful in the real world!
"Captain Capitalism": Your 15 minutes of fame are up. Give it a rest.
If you think only liberal arts grads pull stupid stunts in cars you've obviously had a sheltered upbringing indeed.
Please tell, what is wrong with him pointing out the problems with a lot of college educations?
You seem to forget that freedom of speech works both ways, just like you were allowed to comment, he is allowed to post.
So the "Give it a rest" comment was completely unnecessary, and if you don't like what is posted here, you are FREE to move along.
"Please tell, what is wrong with him pointing out the problems with a lot of college educations?"
Some fool who goes joyriding and happens to have a degree in English points out "the problems with a lot of college educations"? Come off it.
"You seem to forget that freedom of speech works both ways, just like you were allowed to comment, he is allowed to post."
Did I suggest he wasn't? It is not his freedom to post I'm commenting on here; it's the repetitive nullity of this particular tub-thumping of his.
"So the 'Give it a rest' comment was completely unnecessary, and if you don't like what is posted here, you are FREE to move along."
Give it rest.
If Liberal Arts degrees are so self-evidently valuable, why do Liberal Arts grads get so butthurt when anyone claims otherwise?
It's almost like deep down they know it's true.
Now, now, don't stereotype; Ted Kaczinsky took a degree in mathematics.
I can't honestly generalize about the uselessness of "soft" degrees ... however ... I can say one thing with certainty ... that the Univ. of Missouri seems to be the repository of some real WHACK JOBS ! And it seems as though potential enrollees agree ...
http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/education/enrollment-is-in-fact-down-at-mizzou/article_e7e46947-b8f1-5d78-a166-39ca0446ccea.html
Call it the theory of leftist entropy ... that the leftists eventually turn themselves into a black hole of nothingness. Balancing their OUTRAGE with public AVOIDANCE
Mizzou is bleeding students (parents don't really want to send their kids to places that appear on the verge of self-combusting or where the admin/staff allow, to be blunt, a lot of dumbassery). Columbia has always been a Midwestern college that fancied itself Berkley thanks in part to hiring instructors who considered themselves Berkley material but stuck unappreciated in the dank deepness of flyoverland, and that was the fault of the administrators. Meh, it's happened to a lot of similar Midwestern colleges/universities; fortunately some through happy accident of fate have not gone full moonbat yet. They are presently reaping the literal profits of Mizzou's stupidity (it remains to be seen if they learn to garner the metaphorical profits (somehow, knowing admins. the way I do...highly doubtful).
As for the never hiring a liberal arts major, well, I've known liberal arts and STEM majors that both barked at a full moon.
Perhaps a better indicator would be the integrity of that person's character.
>[MUPD spokesman] Weimer said the estimated damage is $100,000, “but they’re still putting it together,” he said. “Those gates are extremely expensive.”
You'd think that gates that expensive would be able to keep a jeezly Passat out. Sheesh.
