Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Anyone under the age of 20 could not legitimately comment on this poll. It is nonsense.
If the LPOC had its way, polls like that would comprise our federal electoral system.
CTV has an article "Summer tourism creates security concerns in Europe". I did not know that tourists in summer are that dangerous.
This is a test of the CTV Propaganda System. This only a test.
sure there are more storms..
back in the US ,in the 1950s, 150 million
people got stuck in bad weather..
now 330 million do..
Exactly. I've lived all of my 62 years in N. CA. and have seen and experienced ALL manner of weather ... yes ... even multiple snowfalls here in the SF Bay. But the transplanted 30yo weatherman seems to think that 97deg. on June 21 ... aka the summer solstice ... aka the middle of summer ... aka the longest day of the year ... is something of an anomaly created by all us non-Tesla drivers. So his weather map is colored bright red to bright purple as he WARNS OF EXTREME HEAT ... EXTREME !!!! He has -0- credibility to go along with his 5-years toddlers experience in the Bay Area. But all the imported high-tech hipsters don't know any better ... and will "shelter-in-place" during this shocking 90deg. "Heatwave"
PS ... do have any idea how much I looked forward to HOT summer weather every year ? Just waiting for end of the school year pool parties ... with GIRLS in skimpy bikinis ? I guess SUV-driving had its benefits ...
Extremist weather runs rampant
No has edged into the lead.
53% now say no. The poll is meaningless because there are people now living everywhere and the media reports a unicorn fart as a hurricane
YES 733
NO 835
"Do you think there are more extreme weather events than there used to be?"
Never mind the obvious nonsense this silly CTV poll represents.
Whether there are or are not "more extreme weather events than there used to be" isn't a question that can be factually resolved by an opinion poll.
What delights me, is the ambiguity of the poll - ranging from "YES THERE IS!!!!!!" to "NO THERE ISN'T!!!!!!", the distribution is entirely normal and within bounds of "nobody really cares about this anymore".
Which gummints are gonna' have to find some other dead horse to flog, soon. But I ain't holding my breath...
It's now 56% "No" ...we're winning!
I am surprised that tourists are still going to Europe. My sister and I are visiting Republic of Ireland and Scotland and then we are DONE with that part of the world. We plan on sticking to the Americas from now on.
Yes 986 (43 %)
No 1290 (57 %)
Yes,if you haven't been on this planet for very long your input to this poll isn't worth much.
It's sad how easily the media manipulates the masses, but in a system that doesn't teach healthy skepticism and promotes fear people are played like a cheap fiddle.
Used to work for Environment Canada many years ago...they had a term back then called "the CNN effect" ...whereby it made the news immediately and was front and center....
But in fact, it was nothing new or more 'extreme'.
the only extreme thing about it now...is the reporting.
"Do you think there are more extreme weather events than there used to be?"
No, but there are many more people in the way of "extreme" weather events than there was 100 years ago. When mail was the best way to send news to the folks back in the East, it could be 6 months before the weather in Turkeyneck Bend was "news" in NYC. Now news of a unicorn fart can seen and heard around the world in nanoseconds.
Grew up in a small town near the Canada - US border. It was always a source of amusement when we would encounter Americans - skis on the car rack - asking directions to the nearest ski hill. Our garb - shorts and bare feet.
In the '80s or '90s, there was a series of postcards "explaining" the border. On the US side were neat bungalows and green grass; on the Canadian side were ice, igloos, and polar bears. They did express a reality.
