For example, I've been a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for nearly 40 years. It saddens me that such an august institution has also bought into the "climate change" nonsense.
As well, the AAAS was one of the cheerleaders for the recent March for Science. I doubt that it wasn't so much concerned about the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom but, rather, the grant gravy train. If that funding should stop, researchers might actually have to find themselves real jobs where they do real work, rather than investigate something that's airy-fairy, such as "climate change".

This was actually a major blog victory. Steve McIntyre (Canadian) smelt a rat and created Climate Audit. Anthony Watts created WattsUpwithThat. BishopHill put together the threads and destroyed the hockey stick once and for all. ClimateDepot did a Drudge on climate crazies. Drudge and the Prof and Andrew Bolt and Mark Steyn all hammered away. The Financial Post was a mainstream media bastion. Until he was axed at the Telegraph, James Delingpole did a brilliant job of holding the British warmist brigades to account.
In the face of "consensus", we managed to get Steve and Anthony to win Blogger awards to the point that the awards committee dropped the climate category altogether.
And, yes, Climategate. When the mask slipped. When the faulty (if not fraudulent) science was exposed for all to see. And the economists, Bjorn Lomborg, Ross McKintrick and a host of others underscored the absurdities of the economics of climate change.
We have not won yet...but we're winning and, better still, the hysterics are losing.

Sadly this is not a win, but rather an occasion where we will see people stick their heads even deeper into the sand and buckle down and insist all the more that Trump is an enemy of nature, humanity, the world, whatever.
Trump addressed the "America first", the dubious aspects, and the business side of the treaty yesterday; what needs to be done now is the scientific side needs to inject itself into the argument more prominently and emphasize what is scientifically known and not known in a way that people can distinguish between hype and science.
The irony of Trump is that his actions or non-actions are couched in terms of attack on fundamental rights or accepted scientific facts. The reality is that he represents questioning of the left and what it stands for and what damage it has done over many decades. The serious fear of progressives is that this movement will threaten their 'rice bowl'.
Someone mentioned that climategate is simply a form of taxation which taxpayers will not be able to evaluate or even vote on as a budget line item. Societies are splitting into layers of influence.

Words on a piece of paper. Liberal Posturing. Virtue signalling. A new name for the dog of a PM wanna-be (who signed us up for Kyoto without approval or knowledge of Parliament or the Canadian people - a true leftie method of governing). But we all know that virtue signalling, and maybe adding yet more taxes to any industry labelled "evil" by Hollywood are how to govern nowadays.
Would the Paris Agreement have been much different? Probably not. It gives Jr something to point to when he wants to justify crippling our economy.

We are 20 years into Kyoto and nothing has changed. Another 8 years isn't going to prove anything. There is the annual lie that the current year is the warmest on record. They seem to base this on ocean temperature where there is a poor temperature record. Extrapolate limited temperature readings to 72% of the earth's surface and you get whatever results you want. Throw in urban warming effect and Bob's you're uncle. A few years ago I did a study of the record temperatures at a remote rural weather station and there was no warming trend. The harder the data, the less the global warming. How do you defeat a lie that the leadership, media, and half the population bought into?

I've been watching "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath" on A&E. I think there are remarkable parallels to the AGW movement when you look at the uber-vicious manner that the Scientology cult protects itself, relentlessly drains money from its' practitioners, demands question-less totally subservient loyalty even at the cost of family ties, and games government systems to justify a tremendous amount of accumulated wealth. Scientology even has a doctrine (supposedly no longer enforced) called "Fair Play" that describes how to completely destroy individuals deemed "suppressive". The AGW Movement is also a cult where any departure from accepted doctrine is met with swift banishing character murdering punishment. Opposing facts are ignored, contrary data is adjusted, cherry picked faux-science is truth stamped, governments are shamed, skeptical journalists are sued and the message to accept and conform is preached everywhere with hellfire & brimstone fervor. The AGW cause will not die because of what Trump has done. But it may now ultimately fail to reach the critical mass required for Global governance. If that's what our tiny voices over the years through Kate's miraculous blog help achieve then a very noble purpose has been served through those efforts to our families, country and humanity.
