The Securities and Exchange Commission is examining whether San Francisco-based Sunrun Inc. RUN -8.06% and Elon Musk's San Mateo, Calif.-based SolarCity Corp. have adequately disclosed how many customers have canceled contracts after signing up for a home solar-energy system, the person said.
Investors use that cancellation metric as one way to gauge the companies' health. Companies typically give customers a few days after signing a contract, or even up until the time of installation, to back out of a deal.
Some solar-energy companies have recently disclosed in public filings and earnings calls that increasing numbers of customers are canceling, but the companies have provided few details about the number of cancellations or their impact on the companies' business.

About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

There is no surprise there. When a business has a weak business model, poor performance leads to spin, and when weakness evolves to desperation, spin often evolves to fraud.

Is Elon Musk tied into TESLA? ----Borrowering a Familiar Phrase from this Place. Think So
does this mean the whole summer has been cancelled too? LOL !
All ... I mean every bit of this green dream was tried in the 1970's. The exact same solar panels and wind generators. And no, the technology has not advanced-enough to make these items significantly more efficient than they were in the 1970's. The public put quite a few solar panels on their roofs ... and 10 years later they were all gone ... except ... for the flat black plastic solar panels used for heating swimming pools. Cheap, dumb, low-low tech black plastic solar panels to heat pool water. That's it. Because that's the ONLY thing that made economic sense.
The ONLY way that any of this horribly inefficient green crap is at all viable ... is to make all other forms of energy MORE expensive. The green Left understands this very well ... enter cap+trade and Energy prices inflated through taxation and Public Utilities Commissions allowing price gouging. Obama famously said; "under my plan, electricity prices will necessarily skyrocket". The eco-left clearly understands that their green dream makes -0- economic sense and actually crushes the middle class. Look at everything Jerry Brown is doing in CA ... he is crushing the energy consumer ... all to slap-down the invisible hand of the market with the closed fist of an eco-leftist totalitarian government. Jerry, Al, Nye ... and the rest of the septuagenarians remember their drug-addled 1970's ... and they know EXACTLY what is needed to FORCE their green dream on the public this time.
The majority of cancellations probably involve two groups:
those to whom "math is not hard",
and those who mentioned their coup to pioneers whose financial arrow wounds still fester.
The single biggest problem we seem to face with solving leftardism is the absolute groupthink that continuously revolves around them. Our very own trolls here repeatedly prove that point by rehashing the exact same tainted propaganda of the MSM, nary an original idea among them. Liberals use our schools, media, pop culture and bureaucracies as training grounds for these close-minded, intolerant ignoramuses.
So, where is the outrage from these hypocritical losers about the millions of birds and bats(many endangered)killed by these giant dicer/slicers? We know they like to go apoplectic with moral fury when a few dozen ducks die from the oil industry. I would guess the vast majority are either unaware thanks to the MSM's dedication to avoiding unpleasant truths or they are waiting to be told what they think.
If you want to kill this fraudulent, welfare energy industry by the next 10 to 20 yrs then it's time to start marketing images of the carnage to young children. Start calling it Red(blood)Technology as opposed to Green Technology, etc. Ha, even some grown-up leftards might start getting a clue.
Leftardism is a horribly cruel, mentally disabling disease..... please give generously so that we might find a cure.
"OUR SCHOOLS"? Seriously?
It's their schools, their bureaucracies, their media, their pop culture. The biggest part of the problem is all the people who are willfully blind to that.
It hasn't been "our" government or schools or anything for generations now. Anyone in any of those institutions, anyone who wants in, they are your enemies. Always have been always will. But you go ahead and keep on believing the fruit of the poisoned tree will be different.
Don't you pay taxes, dipsh*t? GODDAMN RIGHT they are OUR schools.
You can surrender to the leftist hoards all you want, coward, but I choose to fight to gain back OUR schools.
All those people you donated to and got them elected. That is why the CBC is gone, right? That is why we still have Diefenbaker's charter and got rid of Trudeau's freedom destroying one, right? But if your logical fallacies make you believe you have ever won an argument, you just keep on keeping on.
"all to slap-down the invisible hand of the market with the closed fist of an eco-leftist totalitarian government" Kenji
That is a good post. especially that the technology is 1970/80s...That AGW was never a real scientific issue & they knew that the technology would not exist to actually make any difference...
The truth is that the Academics (Phd's) never knew what was the present state of the art... They are lost when asked to explain a reality function.
The think tanks run past analysis of successful research and think that if they just add enough money & folks, that they will get the same results.. Order up innovation & invention is assured...
Failure is assured, throw another virgin in the volcano
So true ... "Order up innovation & invention is assured..." ... Mr. Shaw. If I am correctly interpreting your statement, this is EXACTLY what the uneducated, dull-witted, public believes. That "scientists" can change physics ... if we just had more "research" into "alternative" energy. I assume these are the same cattle-like humans who believe that medical "science" can "fix" all their ills ... or that ... if we just got rid of all the "chemicals" ... we would live forever. Smh.
Stupid people signed up ... a miracle happened with a moment of of "not stupid" ... cancelled.

Well said. You and Kevin are both right about "our schools". We paid for them but the Frankfurt School board members decide what will be taught in them.
Speaking of the CBC. I got the following email from Brad Trost, one of the CPC leadership candidates.
"Yesterday, Members of Parliament were called for a recorded vote on my Private Member's Bill C-308 on privatization of the CBC. Privatization of the CBC will save Canadian taxpayers more than $1 billion EVERY YEAR.
But . . .
Six MPs from our caucus voted -- conservatively -- in favour of Bill C-308. In favour of privatizing the CBC and saving taxpayers more than $1 BILLION EVERY YEAR.
Larry Miller who was the chief seconder of my bill was in surgery. But only these MPs voted with me in favour of CBC privatization: Harold Albrecht, David Anderson, Blake Richards, Kevin Sorenson and Arnold Viersen.
I confess . . . I was surprised. When the voice vote on Bill C-308 was taken earlier, a larger number of Conservative MPs voted in favour with their voices, and then stood to force the recorded vote taken last night.
Why did Conservative MPs vote AGAINST privatizing the CBC?
The Caucus leadership told them to."
If you want to see how your MP voted go to near the bottom of Parliamentary Journal.
