Actually, the Left Coast is going to hell in a hand basket if this lot get their way.

This is going to be incredibly nerve-wracking for Horgan.

I can't imagine that any BC Liberal will put their name forward for speaker. So every whipped vote will be a 43-43 tie with the speaker breaking the tie.

If even one MLA can't make it or abstains, the government's bill dies. And, for a no-confidence motion, if one member is missing from the house, there goes the government. If one member wavers or chooses his constituents over the party on an unpopular bill ...

And, if even one NDP or Green seat is lost in a bye-election, the government flips. There's no constitutional or legislative requirement that a new election be held. The Liberals could resume power with a no-confidence vote and a trip to the Lt. Governor (providing the Lt. Gov. agrees).

Suppose an NDP or Green member resigns. Then there's an NDP/Green minority government.

Instability city. But great political theatre.

Expect the NDP or Greens to try their hardest to get one or two Liberal MLAs to cross the floor. That's the only way this lasts very long at all.

This is likely the only way the BC Liberals can maintain any integrity. If they had formed a coalition government by selling out BC's economic future to the green priests instead of the slime-ball, dour-faced, union-brand, socialist NDP they would be no better. BC will now become a watermelon pariah as far as resource industries are concerned. Forget any new pipelines. If the BC Liberals were smart, they would now dump Christy and find a new leader as I suspect that a significant number of Green votes were a protest vote. The quicker the economy tanks, the better the chances of a return to the partial sanity of the least worse alternative.

Once a society cedes the education establishment to the left, this kind of decline is inevitable. We have now come full circle to a pantheistic variant (green) of socialist (neo-feudal) theocracy. Ain't it great!

The coming crash and burn is going to be epic!

Within four short years, this province will be teetering on economic collapse.

If I owned a house or property in the lower Fraser Valley/Vancouver, it would be listed by 5:00 PM tomorrow.

A blessing in disguise.
A weak center-leftish government with watermelon's holding the whip hand was not a pleasant prospect.
The compost needed turning anyway, and one can expect that the inevitable screwups which accompany the election of novice governors will shakeout a legislature that was drifting inexorably leftwards anyway.

There's nothing like a good hard dose of reality to bring folks to their senses, and a (now looming) crash of real estate 'spectaculation' in the lower mainland will likely be the first sign that socialists are actually subsidized capitalists when given the opportunity.

Did Green voters know they were voting for Horgan and the NDP? I guess it doesn't matter... Caught the NDP and Green leaders press conference, the Media were literally cheering for the non coallition coallition, surprise surprise. Let the punishment begin... should be fun.

The NDP has some good IDEAS about income equality and diversity quotas. The BC economy is strong and the suggestion of increasing the foreign buys tax to 30% will be good for the whole country because it will help the housing market in places like Flin Flon and Thunder Bay.

The people eventually discover that unicorn breezers will not put food on the table.

Oh, yes they will. The smart money will now be invested in unicorn ranches where the critters will be fed whatever will make them particularly gaseous. They'll produce enough that there will no longer be any need for pipelines.

And why not? With all the rain that Lotusland receives annually, there won't be much sunshine available, let alone rainbows.

This will be accompanied by an active futures market in pixie dust.

Of course, PETA will start whining about confining free-range unicorns and how ranches will destroy their natural habitat. The legal profession will derive abundant revenues from the inevitable lawsuits that will be filed and subsequently debated.

Those who voted for the Watermelon Party were forward thinkers.

Don't forget that the NDP's ridings are virtually all concentrated in the elitist heavens of Vancouver Island - government, university - and the Lower Mainland.

This election result could very well split BC into two factions with the elitists and leftists concentrated in the urban areas, much as what has happened in California and what happened in the 2016 Presidential election.

This is not going to be pretty for any of the parties.

The bigger oil pipeline will not be built beside the present one – this will make the Notley Dictator Party (NDP) of Alberta, the LIEberals under tRUDEau and now BC Green/ NDP merger secretly happy – tRUDEau will go along with Alberta and BC goals – NO Pipelines – tRUDEau and LIEberals already stopped new routes of oil tankers along West Coast; The Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) project will not go ahead – while the USA has already made a major contract with China;

As stated above ... the housing bubble will break; and a major increase in the Carbon Tax to please the Green Party – which will be an increase in funds to build more “green power” projects; and only good thing that might happen: is that there will be a sewer treatment plant built in Vancouver instead of direct untreated pipeline into the ocean.

First Ontario, then Alberta and now BC will become a “have-not” province -Quebec has been one since they wanted to separate from rest of Canada – due to the “Green” energy projects. ... All through this, there will not be one union job lost – just like Alberta.

Only provinces left are Saskatchewan and now Manitoba, which should use the “notwithstanding clause.”

Next step, the Maritime Provinces, NWT, Yukon and Nunavut (ALL 100% LIEberal seats) – why should they NOT have tRUDEau Carbon Tax imposes as soon as possible so they can start to suffer. What’s the hold-up tRUDEau???

When you vote for a left-of-centre party you are basically admitting that you don't scruple about bullying your neighbour. We are a wretched people.

Clark should simply not resign. Meet the legislature and if defeated in the legislature, ask the Lieutenant Governor for new elections. She won the election - no need to back down. The Lieutenant Governor is a farm girl from the interior, recommended to the position by Harper. She likely hates Bolshiviks and despite an agreement the election results are inconclusive. Mackenzie King lost the 1926 election and refused to resign. It's a Liberal thing - and Clark actually won.

Christy won the election as the incumbent with the most seats of any party in the legislature. She doesn't have to go anywhere. She is still the premier of BC unless the Lt Governor says otherwise. The NDP and the Greens can rant and rave all they want, short of a non-confidence vote, the Liberals are the governing party.
