The Alberta Investment Management Corp. (AIMCo), which manages $90 billion in provincial funds, including the $19-billion Heritage Savings Trust Fund, is about to get a bunch of new directors under a new process rejigged by the NDP government. Four board seats are now occupied by directors whose terms have expired; three of them have term extensions that end next month, the fourth ends in October.
The NDP recently stripped out of the act regulating AIMCo any requirement that the agency's directors have relevant financial, legal or board experience to qualify for overseeing the management of Albertans' savings funds. It also granted Premier Rachel Notley's cabinet the power to install its own handpicked people...

About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Napoleon has ordered you to fill the silo with sand, and sprinkle some grain on top. Tell everyone it was a bumper crop.
I learned everything I ever needed to know about socialists/communists from 'Animal Farm'.
The money will be gone in a week.
It appears that the socialist extremists that run the government of Alberta are hell bent on screwing up every damn advantage that existed.
It must be that as the gene pool gets older, the stupidity becomes more common, reality be damned.
Hugo showed the way and they are going for it at full speed.
The only question remains, will the opposition get some balls to stop it?
Drat, I knew I should have bought into paper bag futures last week.
And another thing....
One doubts the opposition is even capable of doing anything. Wild Roses Jean wants to be a nice guy, he actually is and politics is not for him.
Just as an aside, look at Trump, he will say and do as he wants, the opposition, the mass media masturbators, the international socialists (INAZIS), are dumping on him left and right and he just goes on, for better or worse he goes on never mind the winds.
It could be that the opposition parties don't mind what the socialist are doing and possibly feel that .... let them do the dirty work.
How can it be that free people want so much diktat.
Is it that as long as the "free stuff" is coming in everything is well with the world?
Is it that they wholly disregard future of their descendants for instant gratification of today?
What the hell is it that the society seems to want to screw itself into oblivion?
I ask.
Great - teachers who have failed to teach a couple of generations how to read are now going to manage billions. Every simple decision these Bolsheviks make is political, intended to have resonance far beyond the day 2 years hence when their asses are kicked out of office. I have an NDP member and I'm still waiting to find the first person to admit they voted for him.
Their theft was your property.
"What the hell is it that the society seems to want to screw itself into oblivion?"
Because the leftist MSM peddles the notorious utopian lies promised by their buddies on the left and the apathetic public that watches a few sound bite video clips at 6 PM pays scant attention to what is really going and swallows the misinformation and propaganda.
A "what could possibly go wrong " moment just jumps out at you !
I always wanted to visit Venezuela. Now I can, without leaving the comfort of my own shambles.
People who live off the theft of taxation should never be entrusted with large bags of loot. Single term limits would go a long way to eliminating the wholesale purchasing of votes. The so-called downside of citizen legislators being "inexperienced" is a canard when one considers the average experience of say, Notley's cabinet. It couldn't get any worse and that sorry lot think of themselves as career politicians. A random roundup of panhandlers on 97th St in Edmonton would be better qualified.
Hmm, so massive amounts of public funds are found to be in control ofmunioned bus drivers, social workers, and activists
What could possibly go wrong?
We tried to tell BC voters how the ENDPee operates, but the plebes are blinded by their hatred of pipelines and resource jobs. They don't care about the unintended consequences of union corruption and cronyism
I read that as install its own handicapped people..
Term limits mean nothing. You need a fundamental redesign.
Public servant; no paycheck, lives in public housing, gets food from public mess hall, does not vote, etc. Eliminate the conflict of interest in people who collect and spend, decide how it's spent, decide how much is collected, get a cut, etc. And eliminate the whole idea of pensions for them; it should never be a career choice. Just something every citizen has to do for a year or two, like jury duty.
On all those "investments" in "human capital" such as free drug programs, free housing and other goodies for its client groups; Oh, yes, and big deals for the unions.
Nobody directly voted for the DIppers, they ran up the middle of a split vote.
is your NDP member a prick :-)
Does this remind you of ADD SCAM Chretein thru Trudeau all over again with the new Federal Bank Trudeau and his menions want to set up. Then you got Notley and the NDP ready to spend Alberta's rainy day funds. 90 Billion and 19 Billion how many green...solar and wind turbines can and will they build all subsidized by the TAXPAYER of Alberta. With out put so minimal, it makes your head spin. Get with it ALBERTA do somthing!!!
All NDP members are. Mind you, I should not denigrate a useful item of the anatomy.
Notley's "Cabinet" runs nothing. Think your high school teacher intelligence level & go from there. They haven't a clue.
It is all run by imported outsiders & well emplaced "Senior civil service" operatives who are not exactly impartial. No skin in the game but on a, what I call "Hire to Fire Contract", where when the going gets tough you fire them with a BIG golden handshake, while over paying on salary & benefits. They also get their moving costs paid for to work their own scams. Butts comes to mind. Worked at some "charity" called the WWF before his present gig, so well up on how to feather his nest with OPM. There are enough past histories in Alberta alone on that practice.
Brain Topp, where was he from? Ontario. He had Alberta's interests at heart, I'm sure. BC's Tzeporah Berman, where is she from? On & on & on. How many of them are co-opted by Soros, the UN, the Saudis et al, or the anti resource nutbars, NGOs & brought in from other provinces & jurisdictions where they failed in another NDP, Green, LPOC undertaking & are now dumped off here to wreck their agenda on this province.
We know where Prentice is. Where is Alison Redford these days? At Canadian Transition Energy Initiative (CTEI), a "think-tank dedicated to encouraging debate about energy and building a road map for Canada’s future". Her sidekicks there are Phil Fontaine and (horrors!) BC's Tzeporah Berman, again. WTF?
Wonder what the "job" pays.
After the people of B.C. witnessed the destruction of their neighbour Alberta under the NDP, the voters there decided to give the NDP 41 seats in B.C. We need no further proof that the average Canadian voter has the intelligence of a gnat.
