  1. What is not so well known is that farmers also use glyphosate on crops such as wheat, oats, edible beans and other crops right before harvest.
Along with wheat and oats, glyphosate is used to desiccate a wide range of other crops including lentils, peas, non-GMO soybeans, corn, flax, rye, triticale, buckwheat, millet, canola, sugar beets and potatoes.
According to a wheat farmer in Saskatchewan, desiccating wheat with glyphosate is commonplace in his region. “I think every non-organic farmer in Saskatchewan uses glyphosate on most of their wheat acres every year,” the farmer speaking on condition of anonymity said.
He has concerns about the practice. “I think farmers need to realize that all of the chemicals we use are ‘bad’ to some extent,” he said. “Monsanto has done such an effective job marketing glyphosate as ‘safe’ and ‘biodegradable’ that farmers here still believe this even though such claims are false.”
“We are told these (glyphosate residues) are too small to matter but can we believe that?” the Saskatchewan farmer asked. “I think everyone, even farmers that use and love glyphosate, would rather not eat a loaf of bread with glyphosate in it.”
While the pre-harvest use of glyphosate may account for a small amount of overall use of the herbicide, Benbrook says this still has a huge impact. “It may be two percent of agriculture use, but well over 50 percent of dietary exposure,” he said.
Further, he said: “I don’t understand why Monsanto and the food industry don’t voluntarily end this practice. They know it contributes to high dietary exposure (of glyphosate).”
“The most tragic thing is that industry is encouraging the use of glyphosate on wheat, farmers are using it, consumers are unaware of it and it’s having a powerful effect on the food system,” he said.

  2. One of the things that saddens me about the church in recent decades is how hymns like that, and the message that they convey, weren’t sung very much. Instead, the emphasis was on more “relevant” material which was in line with the leftist stance that many denominations adopted and adhered to.
Eventually, I found that I no longer had a place in that institution, so I left.

  3. It’s pretty hard to take a site called “Eco Watch” seriously when it contains mostly political commentary.

  4. Garbage. Glyphosate breaks down almost immediately when it comes into contact wit soul or other organic matter.
Nothing less than ignorant irresponsible fear mongering

  5. So you say. Got any accredited proof?
This agronomist and professor emeritus at Purdue disagrees with your opinion and provides documented proof.

  6. Your ad hominem ‘shoot the messenger’ argument carries no validity. It makes no difference who published the article. That would be like someone stating that nothing you post is true because they knew someone named TimR who lied. I wouldn’t believe that would you?
Lets see you provide accredited refutation of the points raised in the article and these references presented by the article:

  7. There has been a lot more research since that 2015 article was published. Here’s an update from Dec 2016:
Does Glyphosate Cause Cancer? EPA Panel Meets to Find Out
From Dec. 13 – 16, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is conducting a Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) to evaluate “the carcinogenic potential of the herbicide glyphosate,” the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup.
For years, Monsanto has claimed that glyphosate is safe. Advertising at one time that Roundup was “safer than table salt” and “practically non-toxic.”
However, many studies contradict Monsanto’s assertions. In March 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the specialized cancer agency of the World Health Organization, concluded that glyphosate is a “probable human carcinogen.” Then in July 2016, an IARC scientist, Dr. Kurt Straif, defended the agency’s assessment that glyphosate probably causes cancer in humans. Dr. Straif stated that:
“Our evaluation was a review of all the published scientific literature on glyphosate and this was done by the world’s best experts on the topic that in addition don’t have any conflicts of interest that could bias their assessment.
“They concluded that, yes, glyphosate is probably carcinogenic to humans based on three strings of evidence, that is clear evidence of cancer in experimental animals, limited evidence for cancer for humans from real-world exposures of exposed farmers, and also strong evidence that it can damage the genes from any kind of other toxicological studies.”
    “”””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””
Would an intelligent person want to believe Monsanto who obviously has a bias, or the ongoing work of independent researchers?

  8. Wrt juthtins move to monopolize the marijana market. His government makes the assertion that by doing this it will free the police resources up for more important things.
Would the more important thing being a tax collector for the federal government?

    salve Iesu care!
    Cruci tuae me aptare
    vellem vere, tu scis quare,
    da mihi tui copiam.”

  10. Actually, the ‘more important things” will be going after the harder illegal drugs that the drug peddlers take up because they have to make a living, after all. I have often thought of marijuana as a kind of buffer between the public and rampant pushing of hard drugs. Personally, I think decriminalization was all that was needed.

  11. “Does Glyphosate Cause Cancer?”
Have you used or eaten anything recently that doesn’t have the disclaimer “this product contains ingredients known by the State of California to cause cancer”? If it’s missing that on the label, it’s likely laden with salmonella or e coli.
A bit of hyperbole. But it is a fact that I survived frequent spills and deliberate washes with leaded gasoline. I won’t worry about the thousands of toxins in daily life that are more likely than glyphosate to cause cancer.

Well this year, in mid April, Easter is relatively late, and the forecast is now calling for snow to hit large parts of Europe as a low pressure system (OTTO) centered over the Baltic sea will pump polar air across the continent — thus ushering in a nasty and possibly protracted spell of winter.”

  14. ‘possibly referring to the French Rat study’
Yes that would be the one where pure glyphosate was poured down the throats of lab animals and that is supposed to represent human exposure to round-up.
Good song by the way. The Beatles did something like that.
‘I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire

  15. The Trudeau government is signing Canada on to another United Nations treaty, one that critics say will deliver little in the way of benefits to Canadians but will harm our national sovereignty in years to come.
Global Affairs Minister Stephane Dion quietly issued a statement on Thursday morning announcing that Canada will accede to the Arms Trade Treaty. The stated purpose of the global pact is to stop the flow of small arms such as rifles and pistols to terror groups, organized crime and oppressive regimes.
Tony Bernardo, Executive Director of the Canadian Shooting Sports Association, tells The Rebel that export controls to achieve these goals already exist in Canada.
According to Bernardo export controls in Canada are strict and require government approval.
By signing on to the UN treaty however, he says we are giving up the ability to control Canadian law.
“It is outrageous that Canada would choose to abdicate her sovereignty to the United Nations,” Bernardo said.
“Every six years, a 75% majority of countries at the UN will be permitted to determine our nation’s laws. It seems inconceivable that the Canadian government would agree to throw our democracy under the bus.”

  16. that would be the one where pure glyphosate was poured down the throats of lab animals and that is supposed to represent human exposure to round-up.
Got any proof of that ridiculous statement?
Like many posting on this subject your lack of logic is astounding. You constantly complain about the government and big industry, and rightfully distrust them, but when it comes to spraying weed killer on the grains you eat in bread and cereal, you seem to think that’s OK. Think about that the next time you’re scarfing down your handful of daily maintenance meds.
Spraying weed killer on the ground before planting to reduce tillage is less harmful, and the amounts absorbed into the plants and seeds might be minuscule. However spraying weed killer on mature plants and the seed grans you’re going to eat just before harvest is something entirely different. Wake the fúck up, they’re screwing with your food, while you argue over inconsequential politics you have no control over.

  17. “By signing on to the UN treaty however, he says we are giving up the ability to control Canadian law.”
It may be small comfort since we’re currently being governed by a children’s crusade who seem ready to go along with any nutty internationalist “notion du jour”, but no, we’re not.
There is no “World Supreme Court” or “World Police” on hand to arrest nations that choose to ignore international conventions.

  18. Another chemical that worries me is Atrazine.
from wikipedia; “… Atrazine has been a suspected teratogen, with some studies reporting causing demasculinization in male northern leopard frogs even at low concentrations…”
“… As of 2001, atrazine was the most commonly detected pesticide contaminating drinking water in the United States…”
demasculinization? and it’s in drinking water?
that would explain, at least in part, those emasculated white liberals who call themselves feminists.
    no I am not kidding.
western males are more and more “feminized” and studies show sperm count keeps going down every year.
brainwashing can feminize a man to an extent, and it has, but exposure to demasculinizing chemicals has to be an important factor as well.

    Answer: “Electricity”.”
“When I was a kid on a dairy farm in Queensland, we relied on green energy – horses and human muscles provided motive power; fire-wood and beeswax candles supplied heat and light; windmills pumped water and the sun provided solar energy for growing crops, vegies and pastures. The only “non-green” energy used was a bit of kerosene for the kitchen lamp, and petrol for a small Ford utility. Our life changed dramatically when we put a diesel in the dairy shed.”

  20. Atrazine is not the only demasculinizing chemical to be concerned about. There are a wide variety of estrogen mimickers in the food and beverages the average urban millennial consumes. Girls are getting boobs and periods earlier and boys have lower sperm counts and typical metro-sexual emasculation. Most of that shit isn’t Halal so the muslimes are avoiding it. Their plan to out-breed Christians with warriors is succeeding as expected. Granddaughters will piss on grandpa’s grave, and wonder how we could have been so stupid to let islamofuckation happen. It’s sad to see a society commit slow suicide. I’m glad I’ll be gone before it gets really bad.

  21. John North of 60 Galt says about me:
‘You constantly complain about the government and big industry’
‘you’re scarfing down your handful of daily maintenance meds’
‘you argue over inconsequential politics you have no control over’
Those thoughts happen to be wrong so not much new there and hey it is the internet.
I think the thing that bothers you is I actually read the your links but let me understand this thing about you and the UN; you are fine with the UN when they fund anti-herbicide studies but at other times you don’t like the UN. Is that right?

  22. Here’s a good summary of glyphosate toxicity by an accredited independent researcher:
    http://people.csail.mit.edu/seneff/glyphosate/Groton_Seneff.pdf
For over three decades, Stephanie Seneff, PhD, has researched biology and technology, over the years publishing over 170 scholarly peer-reviewed articles. In recent years she has concentrated on the relationship between nutrition and health, tackling such topics as Alzheimer’s, autism, and cardiovascular diseases, as well as the impact of nutritional deficiencies and environmental toxins on human health.
Dr. Seneff noted the ubiquity of glyphosate’s use. Because it is used on corn and soy, all soft drinks and candies sweetened with corn syrup and all chips and cereals that contain soy fillers have small amounts of glyphosate in them, as do our beef, pork and poultry since they are fed GMO corn or soy. Wheat and other grains are often sprayed with Roundup just prior to being harvested, which means that all non-organic bread and wheat products would also be sources of glyphosate toxicity. The amount of glyphosate in each product may not be large, but the cumulative effect especially with those eating processed food could be devastating.
    You are what you eat.

  23. that would be the one where pure glyphosate was poured down the throats of lab animals and that is supposed to represent human exposure to round-up.
Still can’t provide any proof of that ridiculous statement, eh?

  24. Well John, if a lab animal is given a dosage far exceeding any dosage they might encounter outside a lab the study has been cooked but you know that because you’ve read every link I’ve ever posted on this subject.
    Not.

  25. “It is outrageous that Canada would choose to abdicate her sovereignty to the United Nations,” Bernardo said.”
Sadly, this is the essence of the current Trudeau/Liberal government. Much of what happens in Canada is being steered by the UN. That includes policies and activity related to immigration, aboriginal affairs, the environment and defence. That is what it means to be a “post national state.” That is why the 150th anniversary has nothing to do with traditional culture or heritage. I don’t think most people gave grasped what is happening. Canadian sovereignty and identity are being eroded, and it is deliberate.

  26. Now you’re just equivocating like a troll. You offer no proof, your comments are bullshit to be ignored.

  27. You referred to the YouTube presentation by Don Huber. I watched it, or at least most of it. At first it sounded convincing. But at the end, where he talks about some new organism that he has discovered that sounded so incredible ….. well, I decided to look further.
    I found this:
    https://www.geneticliteracyproject.org/glp-facts/don-huber-science-still-looking-for-purdue-professors
It is very difficult these days to find truth in science as so much published material seems to have an agenda. Sources like “Ecowatch” are not credible so don’t bother referring anyone there. It appears that Huber also belongs in this not credible category.
As a side note, I have no particular position on glysophate other than to say it does what it claims to do.

  28. Re: Dr Don Huber
Watched the YouTube link you provided. Then went looking for support for Dr. Don on the internet. Found this:
“when the presentation ended the organizer from Florida Organic Growers and Consumers recognized me in the audience and made a comment about how I’d disagree with everything Huber said, but could ask a question.
I didn’t ask a question. I offered my assistance. Huber claims to have cultured this mystery thingy (he used to call it a micro-fungus, then it was a new pathogen, now it is a prion or “biomatrix”) so I asked politely if he’d be willing to share it with the broad scientific community. My lab sequences DNA all the time, and we could sequence and assemble the genetic material from his mystery pathogen in a few weeks. I offered to pay for it personally, make all data public, and do everything in an open access format- where he would receive all the credit.
For the next 9 minutes and 7 seconds rambled about how the self-replicating organism has no DNA (contrary to what he says in Genetic Roulette’s updated version where he says, “The DNA is being sequenced” @~32 min), that his Chinese collaborators are doing it, and hitting me with “why don’t you just culture it yourself?” I also asked him about specialized containment for safety and he said that there was none. Bottom line– Busted. After this point, in all of his subsequent presentations, his organism would have no DNA.”
And found more ….. at this site: https://www.geneticliteracyproject.org/glp-facts/don-huber-science-still-looking-for-purdue-professors-gmo-pathogen-time-bomb/

  29. Most of what Dr. Huber says about glyphosate is true when he sticks to his expertise in agronomy and animal science.
I too was quite sceptical about where he was going with it towards the end where he talks about some new organism that he has discovered that sounded so incredible. However that does not discredit the other part of the presentation. That’s how science works, you should know that. Only a fool throws the baby out with the bathwater.
Your ad hominem ‘shoot the messenger’ argument carries no validity. It makes no difference who published the article. That would be like someone stating that nothing you post is true because they knew someone named David in Michigan who lied. I wouldn’t believe that would you?
Lets see you provide accredited refutation of the points raised in the article and these references presented by the article. The article stands on it’s own regardless of who picked it up and published it. You should know that too so don’t try to bullshit us with ad hominem arguments.
I avoid food contaminated with glyphosate. What others choose to eat is of no consequence to me, I couldn’t care less. Everyone can choose what they cram in their pie hole. My choices have made me extraordinarily healthy for my age. My blood pressure readings are consistently those of a healthy teenager. I wear the same sizes I did in my 30s. I don’t have to take daily maintenance medication. Not many septuagenarians can say that. I’ll stick to what I know works for me.
I’m also old enough to remember when ‘they’ told us that leaded gasoline, cigarettes, and hydrogenated fats were ‘safe’ too. Believe whatever makes you happy; I’m not trying to change anyone’s beliefs.
We can lead people to knowledge, but we can’t make them think.

  30. John Galt:
At least on this subject (glysophate) you come across to the readers of this blog as a fanatic. Yes, like a cult member. You attack anyone who disagrees with you as a troll or an idiot or worse. That’s not going to influence people in a positive way. If you can’t present a reasonable argument and discussion then I suggest you SHUT UP. The more you rant, the less credible you become.

  31. Interesting link David
Deconstructing Don Huber – “Huber intersperses, correlates, and extrapolates this valid data with information that has very little, if any, scientific value. He begins by noting that correlation does not equal causation, but then he’s off to the races with a blinding series of correlations, peppered with references to the results of a few real studies, to the point where most listeners lose track of the initial caveat… Huber also isn’t above using discredited science and non-science to bolster his claims and incite fear. The Seralini rat experiments and Carman/Vlieger pig study figure prominently in his presentation… Needless to say, there’s a great deal of skepticism in the scientific community. The claims he makes for this “entity” are simply not supported by our current understanding of the way the world works… To make matters worse, Huber has refused to share his data, the organism, or his methods for culturing the organism with the broader scientific community. He has published nothing about it that could be subject to peer review, and he’s not allowing other scientists access to the information they need to prove or disprove his hypothesis… Don’t be mistaken – whatever has lead him here, his current path is deceptive, misleading, and irresponsible….”

  32. With a handle like yours (CreepyClown), I am totally won over to your point of view. (“We ALL float down here”)
But seriously, the only people calling the Genetic Literacy Project a “Pro-GMO lobby” are the same people who are fanatically Anti-GMO, Anti-Monsanto, e.g., Mother Jones, etc.
As I’ve already said, I have no position on glysophate. The only position I take is for good science. Believe what you want. No one is telling you to do anything different. Certainly not me.
If that makes me a twat, it must be a compliment.
Oh yes, and glyphosate inhibits the activity of the enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) and is well understood. It is not functioning by chelating divalent cations like manganese, magnesium, etc as Huber claims, at least in no major way.

  33. You and John want links and when provided you skim over them or ignore them. Now you want a video? No point since you wouldn’t listen to it anyway.
As for your dysphoria (a state of unease or generalized dissatisfaction with life) I would get that checked out.

  34. Here, like always, those who think that pesticides are safe to eat have nothing to support their beliefs. They’ve got nothing verifiably substantial to back their claims, no independently researched science, just ad hominem ‘shoot the messenger’ attacks, name-calling and the assurances of pesticide manufacturers that of course their products are safe to eat.
The important point they fail to grasp is that people who choose to avoid eating pesticides don’t really care if others freely choose to slowly poison themselves. It’s like the people who argue against wearing seat-belts or helmets; nobody really cares what you do if you believe you’ve got nothing valuable to protect.
    Have a nice day, y’all.
