I tried this at the TDSB and was told by my school trustee that this was religion being taught in 14 of our public schools as every Friday they were used as mosques and she, Gerry Gorshan could not interfere.

Actually if the Conservative parties started supporting interested and qualified people for schoolboards, councils and the various other boards, then a conservative revolution would take place. I have watched all these comments for a long time. Finally decided to check it out for myself. Went to the library and picked up a free copy of the Koran. By page three I was was so disgusted I took it back but had a great urge to destroy I it. Before you comment try it.

If M-103 was really about "ending of discrimination against all races and religions" as our liberal MP tries to convince me, then the Muslim activist MP pushing this motion won't object to including antisemitism along with 'Islamophobia'. After all, according to Statistics Canada, Jews are the most targeted minority group in Canada. They are eight times more likely to be the victims of hate crimes compared with Muslims. Not only that, Muslims are disproportionately responsible for as much as half the hate crime against Jews.
Including antisemitism in the motion would send a strong message to the Muslim community that the ongoing antisemitism from some mosques is just as objectionable as their perceived 'islamophobia'.

If the Liberals don't include antisemitism in M-103 then they send a clear signal that M-103 is only about 'islamophobia' and they favor Islam over other ideologies. That is going to piss-off a lot of Canadians.

I did a bit of research on the Peel Board of Education and the Muslim prayer issue. They've been having difficulty with the Muslim community for a while now. Under the circumstances, the chair did as well as could be expected considering the pressure they're under. Muslims are always being offended so how on earth can any institution deal with their demands?

A meeting of the Peel District School Board heard Tuesday evening that Muslim students feel stigmatized and targeted after a recent change to the board's religious accommodation policy — prompting the board to suspend that change for the time being.

Since September, students participating in Friday prayers at their schools have been restricted to the use of six pre-approved sermons. Previously, the board's policy said that students were able to use any sermon that had been approved by an administrator.

"I feel like this [new] policy, this procedure, whatever you want to call it, it really just gives this sort of guilt," said Meleeha Baig, who works with Muslim high school students in Peel Region.

The 22-year-old alumna of Mississauga's Clarkson Secondary School called the change "unacceptable" while addressing trustees during the meeting. She likened the policy as a return to "colonial values."

"The board should not be policing religion," added Shahmir Durrani, who also addressed the board.

Durrani says the policy is unjust because it specifically targets Islam.

"There's this assumption that Muslim youth aren't promoting a peaceful message," he said. "It's very negative and it negatively affects the mindset of these youth."
Sermons developed with local imams

The Peel District School Board says it worked for more than a year with 10 local imams to develop the six sermons to be used during Friday prayers, called Jumu'ah in Islam.

Jumu'ah is the sole group prayer activity allowed by the Peel District School Board.

Can't find them now, but I've recently read articles about one school in Britain and another in a mid-eastern U.S. state in which pressure was being brought to bear on teachers by Muslim parents.

Complaints were made about the female teachers mode of dress not being sufficiently modest, with demands made of the local board that she be removed.

Such pressures are clearly in line with the often cited stats about what typically occurs when certain percentages of Muslim populations are met. If a third of students are of an ethnic/religious background, their parents are going to have considerable clout - particularly when school boards are generally populated with compliant liberals.
