Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Janice Malcom (Toronto Sun) addresses the Cdn.’sanctuary city’ SJW movement.
“Montreal city council, led by mayor and former immigration minister Denis Coderre, voted earlier this week to declare itself a ‘sanctuary city’ for illegal immigrants.
Toronto, Vancouver, Hamilton and London have all passed similar motions, and city councils in Ottawa, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Regina are considering doing the same.”
http://www.torontosun.com/2017/02/24/sanctuary-cities-promote-illegal-immigration
All of southern Ont&Que will become a Muslim controlled enclave around sanctuary cities. Those voters elected LIB gvts and got the governance they deserved; stupid sheeple. Karma’s a harsh teacher.
The word Schadenfreude comes to mind.
I’m surprised at Saskatoon being on that list. When I lived there 35 years ago, it was a socially conservative city.
Trump blocked the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Politico, BuzzFeed, the BBC, the Guardian and CNN from attending a White House gaggle today!
But he allowed Breitbart, The Washington Times and One America News Network to attend the gaggle!
Sure, he allowed NBC, ABC, CBS to attend, but he also allowed Faux News too!

Rex Murphy: In Ontario, the taxpayers sustain Wynne’s green energy perpetual motion disaster
Just two days ago, in this same Ontario where “energy poverty” is the phrase d’jour, it was announced that for those green citizens who wish to buy a Tesla all-electric car, or any other high-end save-the-planet roadster, vehicles in the $75,000 to $150,000 bracket, the province is restoring the full $14,000 ecoVirtue subsidy. And as an extra frill, all Tesla tycoons get to ride free in the HOV lanes and wave at the second-hand pickups stalled in the lanes for ordinary folks.
This is a story of almost Dickensian symmetry. The ecoLords who have brought mayhem to Ontario’s electricity system and reduced some of its citizens to public tears and weeping, with power being cut off to low-income residents, is hurling $14,000 subsides to those who by definition – those buying $150,000 wonder cars – have no possible need of them.

It has grown bigger and worse since then. We had a mayor who thought anything goes as long as it promotes “growth.” Recently we elected a replacement who is for anything that is politically correct or progressively trendy.
Another fairly good National Post article (although on Islamophobia motion not perpetual motion):
Conrad Black: Parliament can’t simply demand people feel good about Islam
“I get around fairly well and I have heard nothing in this country from anyone that has been as abusive as some of the letters and emails to this newspaper two years ago when I wrote that advocates of the existence of a divine intelligence are generally successful in debates with famous atheists. I did not state any religious views of my own (though it is no secret that I am a Christian) and was pilloried by many as a superstitious idiot. But I didn’t petition Parliament or inflict myself on a Human Rights Commission. There are serious limits to what Parliament or government can do in a free country about people’s opinions. The freedoms Ms. Khalid cites include the right to think and speak negatively about other people and groups. Parliament cannot and should not aspire to turn the country into a judgment-free zone, a vast Pleasantville. Democracy is self-government and that cannot occur without the right of everyone to say and believe what they want, as long as it is not seditious, defamatory, or an incitement to illegal behaviour”

Well, we have kind of put ourselves out there haven`t we? Our PM has announced to the world that refugees are all welcome here. So he can`t intervene in this latest fiasco happening at our borders without looking bad. What saves Trudeau and the Liberals at the moment is that not that many people are sneaking into Canada, but once the weather warms, I suspect that will change. We will pay a ton of money to support these people, or something needs to be done to staunch the flow. The Liberals are creating a real mess. Soon we will look like Sweden, with increased crime and no go zones.
The NDP have basically taken over the Saskatoon council. Socialists never sleep and work 24/7 to achieve their goal of world communism.
Great article by David Cole at Taki’s!

Closing graphs:
“These days, the left has no moral high ground over the religious right. In fact, I’d take a conservative Christian over a demon-haunted leftist any day, because at least conservative Christians admit that their beliefs are faith-based. They don’t go around screaming “science! science! science!” while drinking sacrificial goats’ blood Santeria-style because the rain gods are angry.
I have nothing against people of faith. But hypocrites? They piss me off like a sonofabitch.”
It’s actually pretty simple. With the will!

Crows are neat. They actually have a sense of humor.
They can also use a bit of abstract reasoning, recognize people years after they last saw them, and some can count up to eight.
Saskatoon was, of course, the city that elected Father Bob Ogle (NDP) as one of its MPs.
The Dumbocrat Party is about to commit suicide:
http://downtrend.com/donn-marten/dems-poised-to-pull-the-ripcords-on-their-suicide-vests-by-electing-keith-ellison-as-dnc-boss
It’s been nearly 25 years since I was last in Saskatoon. I noticed many of the changes that occurred after I moved away in late 1983 (such as the arena located in the far north side of the city).
At that time, there was no indication to me that the city council had become progressive. During the civic election while I lived there, many of the candidates were, frankly, eccentrics and the only one who was close to being sane and normal was the incumbent.
Then again, Saskatoon used to have late-night shopping Thursdays and, I think, Wednesdays during the 2 years I lived there. Every other night, the city centre was like a ghost town.
Speaking about crows: When he was a young boy my father raided a crow’s nest and kept a baby crow for a pet. It was a bit of a messy pet and Grandma didn’t really like it in the house. However it was a lot of fun and it learned to mimic human speech. Maybe a bit too well. It would sit up on the hay rack and ‘giddy up’ the horses. The horses didn’t distinguish the crow’s voice from a human voice so they would start dragging the hay rack across the field leaving Grampa running to catch the team. After a few times Grampa packed the shotgun with him and the minute the crow landed on the hay rack. BOOM! No more croaking ‘giddy ups’.
That is no joke. Actually, the UN with their “Sustainable Development” goals have in some cases gone directly to cities. For whatever reason, some of these places jump on the bandwagon — Vancouver (Gregor R.), Calgary (Nenshi), and I guess Saskatoon. Here in Ottawa, public events must regularly acknowledge that they are being held on unceded Algonquin territory. I suspect that many of those “sanctuary cities” in the US are also on board with the UN goal of global governance. Many others, I am sure. It is pernicious, creeping Communism. Of course, Alberta being held by the NDP at the moment just makes things worse. Too much of what the the sustainable development cultists do is expensive and impractical, and some of it is anti-human. In Canada we are getting a double whammy, since our Federal government is also headed down the road to global governance and quite prepared to relinquish Canadian interests. About the only thing out there at the moment slowing down this disastrous train is Trump.
Edmonton doesn’t have much to be proud of in this regard, either. It seems that it tends to vote crooks or nut cases into office.
I’ve long thought that the last mayor who was worth anything was Bill Hawrelak and he died in office in 1975. Things really went off the rails here when the city elected Jan “People Are More Important Than Potholes” Reimer. Fortunately, she lasted only one term.
The next two weren’t much to write home about, either and now we’ve got progressive Don Iveson in charge.
Maybe it’s time I moved someplace else, but where?
If that doggy was a few years younger, he would have driven off those crows easily. Old dogs have a noble dignity.
Thankfully, NOAA wasn’t trying to fake us out with bogus data, they merely substituted research material for temperature data.
But citing research isn’t sexy enough without the hobgoblin of warming and imminent planetary flameout.
It was just a culture clash, different points of views at coffee breaks. It was a total coincidence they came to the conclusion the pause never happened.
Well I feel better that science integrity has been restored. That must also be why “Nature” is requiring reproducible data accompany submitted papers.
To be charitable to the author below, I doubt the NOAA wanted to admit for one minute they were using research not hard data.

“Hundreds of scientists urge Trump to withdraw from U.N. climate-change agency
MIT’s Richard Lindzen says policies cause economic harm with ‘no environmental benefits’”
“More than 300 scientists have urged President Trump to withdraw from the U.N.’s climate change agency, warning that its push to curtail carbon dioxide threatens to exacerbate poverty without improving the environment.
In a Thursday letter to the president, MIT professor emeritus Richard Lindzen called on the United States and other nations to “change course on an outdated international agreement that targets minor greenhouse gases,” starting with carbon dioxide.”

That talk by Victor Davis Hansen was excellent. I have not seen a better analysis of the US election. Thanks for posting.
I grew up here, left in late 1983 when it was “the biggest small town in the world” and returned in ’99 when it was much bigger than it had been and it wanted to become a Big City like Calgary. It is well on its way to growing into all the problems that come with being a large city but when it actually is a large city it won’t have anything particularly distinctive about it.
AGW RIP.
