Say It Isn't So, Joe!

Stephane Dion threatens to "use economic levers to push Trump on climate change". So... a pair of vaguely effeminate French Canadian men are going to put the screws to an alpha male billionaire American President?

Maybe something was lost in the English-to-English translation.

Morning update: "Heading into the mtg with PM/Premiers. I will NOT be signing any agreement that imposes a carbon tax on Saskatchewan"

I don't get it. Last time I was in Tucson AZ they imported some overnight snow to make me feel welcome. Isn't this a typical Canadian greeting?

Though when I was in Tucson that morning, I could hear the screams of the other Canadian visitors from several blocks away....

Dion threatening "to push Trump" is the funniest thing I've read all day.

use economic lever to push Trump on climate change

I'm sure the prospect of a maple syrup embargo will make Trump lose sleep....

Who are these people in Trudeau's government? Why they are denied mental health care?

Since when is Dionky doing a comedy act?

He's gonna show Trump? What, his Bomardier? His Kyoto? Wha?????

Dionky reminds of the 69 pound scrawny turd in high school, big mouth, but would run away if you gave him a funny look, crying all the way.

As our economy tanks, while America dials it up, Dionky and his fellow pantywaists won't have much to say, at least nothing comprehensible

Yea Dion will sic Kyoto his solar powered dog on Donald while the lispy substitute ballerina crys on buttsys shoulder. God how far Canada has fallen, thanks Toronto, you libsters outdid your usual stupidity this time with these poofters.

It shows clearly why Dion didn't make it to Prime Minister.

But a minister of Foreign Affairs also should not be so unrealistic in their assessments of the power available to them.

I doubt if lieberal politicos care if what they do is effective, they only care if it's popular with what they perceive as their vote base, ie. GTA. If they can play their inept mistakes as caused by forces beyond their control, then they cash-in on libtard sympathy for a victim. It's all about the perception they project, 'truth' is malleable, and crafted to fit the situation.

Why they are denied mental health care?
They're not; I suspect most of them are on some sort of medication for psychological disorders.

"put the screws to an alpha male billionaire American President?"

I guess somebody forgot to tell him that the only problem is,Trump will be the screw-driver! How does he (Trump) manage to keep a straight face when talking to these faeries? Or keep his breakfast down, for that matter?

The turd and biden in a meeting together? Bring out the crayons and chocolate milk.

Dion. The mouse that squeaked.

Have the french news organisations translated into their regional french dialogue, the recent news that Canada has slipped to second place as an exporter to the USA, behind Mexico?

Because I know that Dion's working knowledge of the international language of business isn't quite on par, remember the CTV offering him repeated runs at his english interview in his campaign for the Liberal Party leadership a decade ago?

It's a sad reflection on the Canadian people to have a couple of panty waists talking about getting tough with the President elect. The Butt Liberals are comprised of tired old dregs like Dion, McCallum and Goodale a plethora of newbies who don't know their ass from page four. Then there's the highly touted so called smarty like Katherine McKenna making stupid decisions, and the glassy eyed Alice in Wonderland Maryam Monsef on democratic reform....all in all, not a good scene.

Trump and Trudeau, let the games begin, I know who I'm betting on.

It is sad that the Dion who was one of the few defending federalism in Quebec in the bad old days and whose reward was to be constantly caricatured as a rat turned out to be the defender of the Green Shift.
I also remember that hilariously amateur video he delivered late to the networks as the Opposition Leader's rebuttal to Harper's arguments to prorogue Parliament.

Justin should know that saving the planet isn't just about pulling out your Stephane Dion and waving it around.

Will Rogers would have had a field day with our federal cabinet:

"There's no trick to being humorist when you have the entire government working for you."

"I don't tell jokes. I watch the government and report the facts."

Was Slow Joe wearing a MAGA Ball Cap?

So far all of the above.

If this wasn't so pathetic it would be almost humorous. Trump won't give a rip when PM Butt's goofs ruin Canada's economy. In fact he will probably welcome it as it will make his job of restoring the US economy easier.

Doesn't this picture just say it all? The has-been and the never-been. I think the Trudeau government is desperate to rescue credibility for their destructive global warming policies. Trump will expose them for the deluded fools that they are: the last Liberals standing:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-12-09/biden-hails-trudeau-and-merkel-as-last-liberal-leaders-standing.

....Duck a l'Orange, that is!

Good thing it was cold and snowy or Joe might have thought he was in Cuba.

A prudent, even realistic government would treat this visit with as low key approach as possible, given Biden has no relevance whatever in an administration that only has days to live. Leave it to Dion and the Liberals to use this as a prop to stick it to the ingoing government of Donald Trump which holds all the levers of power for the near future. This continues the unfortunate utterances of Trudeau last spring, when it appeared Democrats would head the new administration. This may play well in liberal circles but serious Canadians expect business-like relations with our major trading partner.
There is no upside in getting relations off to a sour start, but that is precisely what Dion and Butts have accomplished.
Trump may be hazy about Canadian policies and government structure, but it's guaranteed some people in his circle are monitoring what is being said by Dion and Trudeau. Not a great way to start a relationship, expect more of this in the near future.

We'll fix those Americans and order our airplanes from the Euros. The Americans will fix those Canadians by building a pipeline to the East Coast and scoop the WTI/Brent spread for Americans. That is the difference between the two countries in a nutshell.

It's the Liberals last kick at the can, their dear Hillary lost. Any remnant of the Obama administration visiting will be made a fuss over but that doesn't change the fact they've been Trumped.

Stephanie and Justine will have to wear their big boy pants and try to look like they know what they're doing....I know I'm being childish...but what the heck, may as well laugh, gotta carry on regardless, we have what we have for another three years.

I prefer to look at Biden's visit in a more positive light.

With any luck, this will be the very last liberal propaganda circle-jerk between US and Canadian leaders we will have to endure for a looooooong time to come.

Soft Power, FTW!

You get my vote for best comment!

Ha. Economic levers ? You mean Canada will charge a tariff on top of the Fee they already PAY to America for taking their "excess" green energy ? Fine ... pay US even more Canadian dollars. BTW that giant sucking sound you hear Stephane ? No it is not your boyfriend working on your crotch ... it is all the manufacturing jobs moving back to America in a business-friendly Trump environment. Better start raising taxes on the Canadian people, Stephanie ... cause you keep killing Canadian businesses that used to fund your government excess.

Joe says the world will be looking to a leader like Trudeau to preserve "the liberal world order" and that "we are going through tough times now" (i.e. because Trump won). As the guy on CFRA radio said this morning about the Biden visit to Ottawa, if we are counting on Trudeau to save the world, we really are in trouble.

I remember Dion's embarrassingly desperate home video tape in 2008 after he lost the election and tried to hijack government with an ill advised coalition that included Quebec separatists.

"Jean Lapierre, broadcast journalist and former Liberal MP, mocked the party's video address."This was the cheapest video. I don't know if the Liberal party has financial problems, but they didn't have to go to a high school kid to get their video made," he said on CTV's Mike Duffy Live. "

And why/how bad did he lose the 2008 election:

"blaming his party's losses in the federal election mainly on its inability to counter Conservative "propaganda" against his Green Shift carbon tax....Dion made the announcement at a news conference in Ottawa, following his party's poor showing in the Oct. 14 federal election. In the worst results in terms of popular vote for the Liberal party in more than 100 years, the Liberals took 76 seats in the election"

Forget Donald, Melanie Trump would kick his butt in a battle to persuade people. Perhaps pushing the new carbon tax is his way of getting vengeance on (western) Canadian for his embarrassing series of failures.

Canadian dollars

There was a time during the mid-1980s that the Canadian dollar was so low compared with the American greenback that people jokingly referred to it as the "Hudson's Bay peso".

I suspect that under PM Man Bun, the time will come when that will be considered a compliment.

Brad Wall for Prime Minister!!

I'm sure I heard Joe Haha finish his speech with "Viva le Canada".

Brad Wall should stick to his guns on this one. Like Dions Green Shift, people still do not like the carbon tax idea. Wall had a series of tweets/Facebook posts about a recent "secret" Liberal govt poll that proves carbon taxes are still very unpopular. From Wall:

Brad Wall ‏@PremierBradWall
Secret PM Office poll obtained by @mindingottawa shows Cdns view carbon tax as LEAST effective way to reduce GHG..out of 12 options #cdnpoli

Brad Wall ‏@PremierBradWall
In the same secret PM Office poll, Canadians pick the economy over the environment as the top issue by a 4 to 1 margin (35% to 9%). #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/s5vKDwtsmL

The polling report also includes a note: “This data should not be shared outside of the PM Office” - ie. with the Canadian people. #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/6DtIakGEnx

And this:

This story comes from @mindingottawa and Canada’s Senate energy committee: https://www.blacklocks.ca/carbon-plan-will-not-work-says-federal-scientific-panel/

Seems to me that Wall is a better journalist than anyone in the Canadian msm. Not surprised. They heavily supported Dion's ill fated Green shift too. It's like they're not willing to share contrary facts and opinions. No bias, of course.

Dion - that's the moron who's going to be negotiating a new softwood lumber deal with Trump's team. I'm sure Dion's threat will be especially helpful. The French president suggested trade sanctions to keep Americans in line on CO2. Trump would have a new source of taxes - French wine and German cars. Win win. The Europeans get to destroy their economy and reduce CO2 while the Americans reduce their deficit.

Urkel in Germany is going to save the world. "Did I do that?"

That's what all the media reported, with one taxpayer-funded exception. Covering for a progressive's "gaffes" is SOP.

U.S. VP Joe Biden says 'Vive le Canada' as he kicks off 2-day trip north

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/biden-joe-trudeau-visit-relationship-1.3888140

Newsflash: politicians open to the idea of spending our money, which they use to redistribute income to their favoured, for which the poor get the pay the highest proportionate price, with none of the loot intended for them, but reserved for the "middle class in crisis," aka Grit rent seekers.

What a friggin joke these people are; their worst case scenarios become the citizens'; oh that and paying indulgences to polluting countries:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-may-have-to-pay-for-carbon-credits-to-meet-climate-targets/article33267047/

Brad Wall should announce Saskatchewan's Economic Diversification plan to start an auto industry to compete with other North American jurisdictions.

Premier Wall has to stick to his guns on this one and I honestly believe that he will do so. Maybe his common sense approach will convince other premiers to smarten up but I highly doubt it since they all appear unwilling to ruffle the feathers of our idiot prime minister. Speaking of which .... wtf is wrong with Brian Pallister? I thought he was a Conservative.

If the narrative is going to be pushed that juthtin is the presumptive leader of the liberal international, they haven't been paying attention.
Justin outed himself as a useful idiot of communist ideology when he made his adoration of Castro.

He is not taken seriously and the left can't hide this fact anymore.

"It shows clearly why Dion didn't make it to Prime Minister. ..."

It shows clearly why Dion had to have an academic career. A university is a place where people go to delay growing up.

About the only thing that will keep me going over the next three years are the comments put forward by like-thinking individuals that I read here daily. As far as Dion and the levers of power, the only part of the lever power equation that he could pull off without any difficulty is the fulcrum, the small dense hard object that the lever presses on. Unfortunately for him, and Canadians, is that anyone else from the whole Liberal Cabinet would be too squishy to provide the denseness that is required as a fulcrum. On the upside today I noticed that my beer and popcorn stocks are steadily rising, so I'm thinking of diversifying somewhat into party hats, streamers and balloons, in preparation for the big party on January 20. The implosion will be massive.

Allowing a lame duck vice-president to sit in with the PM and first ministers meeting is stupid beyond belief. Trudeau's little game is seen for exactly what it is. A political show to shore up his failing carbon tax strategy.
Can you imagine what president-elect Trump must think of this moronic display, if he's even been told about it?

The stock market's been doing quite well in the last few weeks for 2 reasons: the traditional "Santa Claus" rally which tends to happen in November and December and--you guessed it--Donald Trump and, possibly, the impending departure of his predecessor.

Let the good times roll!

Biden coming to Canada isn't terribly relevant.....but having Kellyanne Conway coming to the oilsands IS.

What's wrong with Pallister? The guy has spent his entire life sucking around for a leadership role. Any role. He never had any plans, or ideas, just kept hanging around long enough until someone left the side door open. Now he's in, he thinks he's Doer.
