A tax by any other name is still a tax and it always trickles down.

Yes she is that deluded. She has basically said that she plans on introducing a tax to modify behavior but Albertans don't need to worry because it won't cost us anything. How many stupid/contradictory statements can a premier make before she is packed off to the loony bin?

Methinks I may be moving to that little island called Dominican a whole lot sooner then planned. She is simply bat-sh1t crazy and has the economic understanding of a 3 year old....gimme..gimme...gimme! This province is so fubared, yet I can't find a single person who admits to voting for her and her bunch of thieves. So I guess we are already a commie province.

I want to see some analysis of what the federal/provincial carbon tax will cost us. Wall has asked for this. I think the Opposition should be demanding this, and if the government is not forthcoming, then the Federal Budget Office should investigate. And none of this will do anything for the environment. Boy do I miss Harper. Those currently in charge are seriously lacking in intelligence.

Why Alberta why!? And a majority to boot.

The entire cast of inmates in One Flew Over The Cucoos Nest were smarter looking people than this dolt of a woman, every picture of her she is got that dopey look of an airhead. This glowball warming scam has hundreds of Canadian people unable to afford electricity and decent food and this moron is going to up our transportation costs as our fresh food is coming from the US with their dollar thirty six dollar. Never has Canada and Alberta had such stupid leaders, the quicker Trump takes office and shuts down this money theft of the stinking greenie thieves and lets the countries like Russia and Malasia and the other 11 countries have that evil old puppet master extorting everything possible and pulling butsys and notheads strings the better.

She is on track to succeed in making us a backward entity like Venezuela or Cuba.

And out hope lies with Jason Kenny who is going to 'unite the right' through the progressive party.

We're doomed.

The retardation is strong with this one.

Good to know that the security of our economic future is described in terms as clearly defined as "perhaps." So we are to just float this puppy and see what happens? People are really suffering because of her whims.

This woman clearly lacks the intellect if not education to do the job. She should be impeached after saying such nonsensical things. Impeached.

Word of the day for Nutley....FOCUS....Fu@k Off Cause Ur Stupid!!

A tax is simply another input cost for a business; the firm in question can either eat it, partially eat it and partially pass it on to the final price of their goods/services, or pass it on fully. Since most businesses these days aren't very profitable, it's likely that all of those costs will be passed through.

This woman's an idiot studying to be a moron.

First, let me set the premise. When giving seminars on Tax and/or Profits, I like to ask the question. What is a word for a Company that does not pass all its expenses, including its taxes on to its customers? The answer of course is bankrupt. Maybe not immediately, but eventually.

In my April update on my article on this, assuming they collect what they expect to collect I put the cost at about $620 per Albertan per year. http://heinzegroup.com/insight.htm#16 Of course I am overdue to update those numbers.

My guess, with the PM's planned increases, the cost will probably be $1000 per person per year or more. But that is not the worse of it. Moving activity to other jurisdictions, most with lower environmental standards will mean less activity, costing jobs and reducing the wealth all all Canadians a lot more.

Let's see, more global emissions, more real pollution, and lots of Damage to Alberta and all Canada for that matter. I suppose The Alberta NDP and Federal Liberals consider that a win.

Yeah, yeah, the leftards will continue to elect stupider and stupider politicians.
We get it, but that's not really the point is it?
The question you should be asking yourselves is "Why hasn't the opposition raised a worthy candidate for leader to oppose her?" Even someone like Lougheed or Klein would be better than this socialist twaddle twit.

People get the government they deserve: the very best that complacency, greed, and corruption can buy.

From the AB govt carbon levy website:

"To develop the ranges, it is assumed that businesses subject to the levy pass through 50% to 75% of the related costs to consumers."

Yes, they really are that stupid.

The fascinating aspect in all of this is the brilliant success of the 'environmentalists' and governments in controlling the language of the debate.

When the globe refused to warm as predicted by the IPCC, 'global warming' became 'climate change' - a term so vague that that can it be interpreted to mean anything.

Carbon taxes and other 'emissions reduction' programs are ALWAYS discussed in terms of 'tonnes of CO2,' and NEVER in terms of how much impact they will actually have on global temperature as measured in degrees.

FYI, if Canada's 600 or so megatonnes of emissions suddenly went to ZERO, global temperature increase annually would be reduced by 0.001 degrees C, or about one degree per thousand years - if (and it's a big IF) scientists have it right.

"Oh really" is right. Sure, no doubt the business will eat all the additional fraudulent enviro taxes. Talk about a typically stupid NDPer. Dumber than a bag of hammers. But then the comments above pretty much covered the extent of the stupidity of this commie lite premier.

The band of socialist extremists that runs the government of Alberta have no clue how economy works.
Socialist "economists" and "economy" is a never, never land of nothingness.

When Notley was told that math is hard after she and the lame band of nobodies could not figure out how it was a 20% increase they were proposing. http://globalnews.ca/video/1959650/prentice-i-know-that-math-is-difficult/
Of course the next day the media/political complex ran an interference for the socialist.

As anybody that thinks about things know the climate change is a common phenomenon over the eons. Nobody, not socialist dreamers can do a damn thing about it. Of course it does not stop them from taxing everybody to the limit and blowing money on useless schemes.

That's what socialists do.
Have a look at Venezuela.

The people responsible for the NDP government in Alberta are the people who elected the previous government. If the Redford Regime hadn't become so blatantly corrupt and out-of-touch with it's conservative roots then the NDP wouldn't have the power to be elected as the 'lesser of two evils'. Albertans didn't elect the NDP because they thought it was a better government. They did it because they were pissed off, wanted change, and her daddy was a famous politician. Where else have we seen that work recently?

......and another thing.

Every penny of taxes is paid by the consumer.
The free enterprise must actually produce wealth.
The free enterprise pays taxes from profits that came from the consumer.
All taxes are paid by the consumer, it is included in the price of a widget.
This is so basic, it boggles mind that some don't get it.
You can run around in circles and talk about it being complex.

Yeah for socialists it is complex, they have no idea how economy works.

Sure, no doubt the business will eat all the additional fraudulent enviro taxes.

Didn't you know that business will all do their civic duty and allow themselves to be taxed into bankruptcy? Those companies will then be taken over by worker's committees and run for the glory of the people's revolution.

The thought of that is enough to make one grow a Lenin beard, put on a Mao jacket, and sing The Internationale.

(sarcasm = off)

Yeah, right. It worked so well in the Warsaw Pact countries, didn't it?

Canadians don't elect governments Canadians reject governments.

The HarperGovernment™ lost for the same reasons the Redford/Prentice Regime lost. They were perceived to be aloof, arrogant, and out-of-touch with the voters. There was likely an element of truth in that, but they let the leftist media define the discussion. The leftist media, especially the CBC, crafted and maintained that perception. The HarperGovernment allowed the leftist media to tell Canadians what the opposition thought the government was doing.

As soon as winning a majority, Harper should have gutted the CBC bureaucracy from the top down, replaced them with conservatives, and cut all advertising. Then use the CBC communications system to appear totally transparent while telling Canadians what the government was doing; let the leftist private sector media present the opposition view. Then Harper could have made all the controversial changes in the first year by using the CBC to keep the people informed of what they were doing.

Perhaps this was posted ....

RE: Carbon tax, Notely said this two days ago, it’s not just a question of having a more fuel efficient vehicle, it could sometimes be a question of taking a bus, walking, you know, those kinds of things in terms of the patterns of fuel use that people engage in.

Disgraceful. Disgusting. Revolting! Ignorant. I bet not 1% of Albertans can walk to work and her immoral comment makes no consideration of the role of transportation on our society.

Milke wrote in today's YYC Herald....

The problem with the premier’s response was that it ignores how most people cannot walk or take transit for much of what they do. They live, work and play in diverse spots where hoofing it is often impractical, or ill-advised. (Don’t advise seniors to traipse around town in -30 C.) Transit options are often non-existent, such as in rural areas, for commercial loads or 5 a.m. trips to hockey practice with kids and their equipment.

The core issue is how Notley’s statement revealed an ideology severed from the practical world.

Ideologies are a set of ideas that frame a person’s view on certain matters, usually policy and politics. But to be of any benefit, the ideology should be cemented to what is workable on the ground.

In contrast, Notley’s ideology is this: We in Canada must all kill cheap coal power tomorrow and tax carbon heavily, even while China does neither and builds new coal-powered plants. That ignores what is possible in a world with limited choices.

I am so goddamn mad. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

CAS

I have to disagree with the majority of the comments above. Notley is neither deluded nor misinformed. She knows EXACTLY what she's doing. What she IS doing, is LYING.

...meanwhile she has a driver who chauffeurs her highness everywhere she goes.
"The unemployed oil patch workers have no bread? Let them walk to the store to buy cake."

Draconian.

There are at least four offences in the Climate Leadership Implementation Act for which Albertans can be sent to jail.
...
Anyone who “contravenes a provision of this Act or the regulations for which a penalty is not otherwise provided,” can go to jail for a month and pay of fine of $1,000. That’s for violating any provision or regulation not dealing with taxes.

One needs to only go over to daveberta, rabble or david climenhaga to see the arrogant attitude these people have towards Albertan's and Alberta.

There is no reasoning with these people or any other leftists.

That is a spectacular post. Well done, sir.

I have to agree that Nutley knows exactly what she's doing, although I also believe she's stupid too. Nutley displays a little bit of both stupidity and contempt, contempt for those she deems beneath her, the so called regular Albertan. Although I believe most of these environazis are motivated not by ideology alone but by hatred. You have to really hate people to treat them with this level of contempt. It's more likey Nutley, Wynne in Ontario, the Lisp, Butts, Telford, MacKenna etc. are simply sociopaths who are completely indifferent to the damage they cause, they just don't care. I think they're all sociopaths, narcissistic sociopaths who just don't give a damn, detached from reality, dripping with contempt, and demonstrably stupid too...open mouthed nihilists. It either exhausts them or arouses them, probably both.

I wonder when Canadians are going to get their heads out. We are being taxed for our very existence by fools who really do need to be institutionalized.

Two things : 1 . There is a word for businesses that do not pass on their increased costs - bankrupt. 2. Everything about the carbon "price " is a lie . Every new tax requires a new bearucricy bearucricy. Someone has to keep track of who and how much carbon is being produced and that the "offenders " are paying. That alone will eat up a substantial amount of the revenue without even considering the increased cost of compliance.

Only way for Alberta to fight this is for all businesses to refuse to pay it.

Notley's level of contempt for the people is at Allison Redford level. She is smug and condescending. She is smarter than the rest of us. Need proof? Just ask a question.
Somebody should send her a bus pass for Christmas. She could take a little trip to visit Brad Wall.

How is this tax collected? Part of a fuel tax?
From buisness, like source deductions? A percentage, I have no clue...
