Being the only leader present who had his constituents' well-being in mind sort of puts him in the wrong company.

How do we make Pierre's little boy realize that working Canadians just haven't any more money for him to tax and spend? The 'elites' slurping away at the trough can always vote themselves a raise but for the rest of us, we are up against the wall. Seriously, what is it going to take?

We can only assume the same leaders are not aware of the huge increase in people flocking to food banks, they can't keep them stocked. These are ordinary working people, they have jobs and can't make ends meet.

Why are there no available analyses showing whether a carbon tax would have any effect on CO2 production? Canadians burn a lot of fuel to heat their homes because we get 40 below. Are we really going to turn down our thermostats? Are we really going to reduce electricity consumption? Alberta's electricity price has doubled in the last 15 years and consumption has gone up. The price of gasoline has doubled in the last 10 or so years and consumption has not gone down. There is little elasticity of demand in energy. It would be nice to see real numbers. Brad Wall asked for as much and was denied. My guess is the carbon tax is simply a method to raise taxes.

So basically, the liberals claim to be the evidence based party but are refusing to priovide evidence. Very basic evidence like the breakdown of economic impact, temperature benefits, competitive disadvantages on exports and social/poverty risks, compensation for economic harm. Typical, hypocritical Liberals.

Economists like to (or used to) talk about how different types of taxes distort the economy, risks/benefits and fairness. How can they say the certainty of thousands of joblosses and only a vague possibility of benefits is a "good" tax. If provincial government's really need money, and that's what this is really about for provinces, then the can raise their consumption taxes. Consumption taxes are a good proxy for carbon footprint and are the least distortionary. Politicians can call it a climate changes tax and make it revenue neutral (haha). Additionally, they won't need to set up a new compliance and collection bureaucracy. Best of all it's easy to remove if politics and/or economic challenges change.

For Trudeau, the main attraction is that he gets to bask in the glory of being told how wonderful he is by foreign VIPs. Liberals are great at doing things to citizens, awful at doing things for citizens. Apparently they are oblivious that continuing to do things to people fuels populism. It's a blindingly obtuse misreading of current events.

Premier Wall stands firm against Trudeau's tyranny, while the other premiers with the exception of Palister, fall over each other to jump on the carbon tax bandwagon. Could you loan us Brad Wall, here in Ontario, for just 6 months?

Here in Ont, I just received an ominous note from my propane supplier. Starting next month the delivery will include Wynne's tax of $.0275/l or about $17.50 on 2 furnace tanks.Not an insignificant amount, but that is just the beginning, the tax is set to increase at least 5% annually. Most Ontarians are not focused on this, or do not believe a carbon tax means much, but just do the math on every gallon of fuel, gasoline, diesel and other items and think how much additional revenue will pore into her coffers. And all that additional revenue can be expected to affect climate as much as doing a ceremonial rain dance.

Which brings up the point people should be asking. With well over 15 years of government action in Ont and elsewhere, where are the figures to show results for money already expended.Ont has paid over $!8 B more for electricity over about 10 years, shouldn't change in climate be slowing down?
What models exist to correlate the collection of this taxable revenue with any future changes in global temperature, or whatever parameter you are monitoring?

I think I know the answers to these questions; Canada is responsible for about 1.6% of global C02 emissions, Ont a portion of that; no amount of tax, or no amount of heating shutdown, or industry cessation would have a significant effect on our climate.

And Ont's main opposition leader agrees with her that climate change is man made and a major problem. Ont is truly screwed and the people who did it are firmly ensconced in Ottawa.

I'd sure like to see where the GST or HST fits in this extra tax on living. Will it be calculated before the CO2 Tax, or on top of it all? Will it be displayed on the bill? Separated out on my fuel bills, food bills, any sort of bill? If emissions don't drop, will they just tighten teh screws without notice? If Spud needs 72 F to play golf & he doesn't see it, will there be a surtax of tax on CO2? How about in January?

I hope to hear a great big thank you from all those turd world sh&t wholes who will be the beneficiaries of my carbon tax payments. Spud is already shipping wads of cash out of country on this.

This conference seems to be nothing more than a photo op designed by Gerald Butts and it also appears to have been planned to only have one outcome.
Think back a year, Leisuresuit Larry had just won election and all the pundits believed Hilarity was inevitable. The plan was to have every province agree to a new national tax and on the day of the signing ceremony the POTUS and the President elect would come for their first state visit to celebrate.
The first fail came when Wall dug his heels in.
The next fail was Trump winning the US election.
The failed friday photo op was a result of juthtin not studying history, particularly reading up on the Meech and Charlottetown Accords.
Harper knew that you don't meet with the premiers to sign a national agreement unless all the premiers agree first.
Its apparent Juthtin believes he needs only to arrange for selfies, and the job is done, no one would have the temerity to publicly oppose him....would they?

Surely you don't have to ask; it will be applied on top of the carbon tax so as to maximize revenue. At least that is how Ont already calculated their "Green Fees" (which aren't really taxes) on new tires and all sorts of electronic devises.
These funds accumulates enormous revenue which can be used by Liberals to pore down their favourite social rat hole.

Admiration and respect are not even in the same ballpark as "slavish devotion" or "cult like worship". Of course Premier Wall isn't perfect. Who is? Simply put he is the best premier of any province in this country .... by far. As someone who has suffered through the likes of Woodrow Lloyd, Allan Blakeney, Roy Romanow and Lorne Calvert, Wall is a breath of fresh air and common sense, not blinded by ideology as were his socialist predecessors. All one has to do is take a look at the gong shows currently taking place in Alberta and Ontario to realize just how fortunate we are in Saskatchewan.
