Inside job: A cynic might conclude that all the sudden hoopla about Russian hacking is meant to distract from what DHS was doing.

DHS Says Georgia Hack May Have Been Rogue Employee: Officials tell members of Congress the attack on state firewall could have been inside job.

The Great Unhinging continues...

I'm old enough to remember when it was Trump who was going to start WWIII. Oh well! Scramble the bombers, President Obama.

Only two words are needed;Lois Lerner. What, you thought she was the only one? You thought she was a lone wolf? You thought Creamer and Foval aren't still talking to her?

"Not a smidgen of corruption at DHS". Who is the Ken Koskinen of the DHS? Seriously, these remakes are getting tedious. Poisoned US federal government agency, sequel number 7097. At what point is every single judge on the continent going to be impeached? The civil "servants" can't do it without political and judicial cover.impasse

Foreign government interference and cyber security are important issues. Spying and fomenting conflict is a method used by enemies. I doubt anyone thinks it's ok if it's true. The problem is timing and credibility.

First of all, anti-Trumpers are trying to solicit support from the same people they were bashing as racists, mysogynists, stupid, loser hicks because they didn't listen to the media and vote for Clinton. Trump voters know that are not bigots and their communities and neighbors are not the terrible people portrayed by journalists and the chattering class. Basically, they know that msm and journalists are FOS. So I wouldn't be surprised if roughly half the country is unwilling to take anonymous, unconfirmed reports by the CIA and breathlessly amplified by journalists as fact without overwhelming evidence. That's the problem with lying, baseless insults and manipulation - once you get caught no one gives you the benefit of the doubt.

Once again....people have caught on to the game. It's about trying to obstruct the will of the voter. Just like fake news, recounts and the post election diatribes against the electoral college. Important issues are twisted for partisan politics.

Like it or not, Trump won under the existing election rules. The after the fact laundry list of reason why it should be overturned are getting unhinged. Journalists need to move on. Shut up and listen. Reestablish credibility, talk to people outside the bubble, be honest. Democrats need to reconnect with lost supporters, adjust their policies and choose a candidate with less baggage. Better yet- listen to libertarians because a less intrusive federal government and less powerful president would end the need for mental breakdowns if your side loses.

Dan Gardner is super special adviser to PM Potato Head..he's apparently the smart one...

It was...it was...a...rogue employee! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket, a rogue employee, that's what it was.

Dan Gardner used to make interesting points and reasonable arguments. Some I agreed with like harm reduction for drugs and prostitution. Many I didn't agree with, especially climate change policies, but he was not the usual progressive journalist regurgitating the talking points of the day. Somewhere along the way he became a typical progressive journalist (former journalists in his case) - a smug, snobby, insufferable boor. From my experience his "arguments" are mainly arguments from authority, assuming the moral high ground and argument to absurdity. If he ever recovers, let me know.

Was it hacking or did Trump manage to get the college-educated white and black Russian vote?

Good thing that General Jack Ripper was only a fictional character in the movie Dr. Strangelove (though he was supposedly based on Curtis LeMay) otherwise O'Bummer or the Hildabeast would make use of his paranoia.

Actually, I find that credible.

Thanks to the Dunning-Kruger effect, IT people tend towards arrogant self-righteousness - and security people are the worst of the bunch. I can totally believe that a DHS employee, having been told that Georgia rejected DHS' pen testing because they had their own contractors, decided to do an unauthorized pen test anyway to prove that Georgia was wrong.

I can believe this because I see this happen all the time.

Two points the deniers could consider: why was their security so lax that only they got outed, notwithstanding further fantasy derivatives into "the Russians have Trump's emails;" and, does that changed the truth of what Podesta and the other Dem yappers said?

First it was the deplorables, then the fixers, then the unfair ones, now the Russians. To the all in Trump derangers, VP Pence should now take power.

Or perhaps another Soros fixer could offer legal comfort to defiant or buyer remorsed electoral college voters.

If you want to see which governments (and individuals) wanted to influence the election (and the person they believed would be the future President) there is a list. Money talks. You can see it here:

http://projects.nytimes.com/clinton-donors/

You might note that the oil exporting countries figure prominently.

Does Dan Gardner seriously mean to suggest that the Podesta emails are the equivalent if Pearl Harbor? I think he has destroyed any credibility he might have had.

Yeah ... on "Rogue" assignment for the Obama Admin.

Mafia bosses hire hitmen too. Their hands are always "clean"

Justin trudeau in my opinion is the biggest vacuous empty suited narcissic dimwit I have seen in public life. I had frankly forgotten about Dan Gardner.

Wow, the liberals have suddenly turned into warmongers!

Dan Gardner of the NY Slimes. Need to know more?

Pathetic. Vladdy Putin must have a perpetual smile thinking about the power he possesses.

Yes, and I trust someone gave the twit an appropriate tweet.

Lifted from one of the very appropriate comments on Instapundit.

"Russians may have hacked whatever on alleged behalf of the Trump campaign.

But the Arab nations visibly, purposefully, and deliberately invested hundreds of millions of dollars (in the Clinton Foundation) to buy the presidency for Hillary Clinton.

The former is made to be a problem; the media happily ignores the latter. Because if it was done for Hillary, than it was totally okay."

Does anyone bnelieve a word any govenrment agency says at present, especially via anonymous sources in the News Fake Times or Washington Toast

Dan Gardner... always been, always will be a leftist hack, A self deluding leftest hack who kids himself he is "fair and balanced" Hack. Delusion is strong with this one .......

Dan Gardner is an idiot. So it's equivalent to Pearl Harbour that Hillary was hacked? Over 3000 people died in the attack on Pearl Harbour, but to Hillary they would have been "deplorables" and didn't count. Most people think that the appropriate response to hacking is to tighten security, and the Obama admin's cyber security was notoriously weak. The response is not to start a war.

We know what the Russians would do with a successful hack because one of Victoria Nuland's communications was hacked. The Russians then publicised it. Nuland's message showed that she was fomenting discord between Russia and the Ukraine. It was important information, but it was not party-specific.

The Wikileaks emails showed Hillary as a liar and a cheat, and Obama as a liar. The substance of the emails was never disputed. It seems to be a case of shooting the messenger to discredit his message.

No fake news for you, just for me:

"From the start, it was obvious that it was this accusation from Clinton supporters — not the WikiLeaks documents — that was a complete fraud, perpetrated on the public as deliberate disinformation. With regard to the claim about the Podesta emails, now we know exactly who created it in the first instance: a hard-core Clinton fanatic."

When Nance — MSNBC’s “intelligence analyst” — issued his “Official Warning,” he linked to a tweet that warned: “Please be skeptical of alleged #PodestaEmails. Trumpists are dirtying docs.” That tweet, in turn, linked to a tweet from an anonymous account calling itself “The Omnivore,” which had posted an obviously fake transcript purporting to be a Hillary Clinton speech to Goldman Sachs. Even though that fake document was never published by WikiLeaks, that was the entire basis for the MSNBC-inspired claim that some of the WikiLeaks documents were doctored."

But the person who created that forged Goldman Sachs transcript was not a “Trumpist” at all; he was a devoted supporter of Hillary Clinton. In the Daily Beast, the person behind the anonymous “The Omnivore” account unmasks himself as “Marco Chacon,” a self-professed creator of “viral fake news” whose targets were Sanders and Trump supporters (he specialized in blatantly fake anti-Clinton frauds with the goal of tricking her opponents into citing them, so that they would be discredited)."

When he wasn’t posting fabricated news accounts designed to make Clinton’s opponents look bad, his account looked like any other standard pro-Clinton account: numerous negative items about Sanders and then Trump, with links to many Clinton-defending articles."

Hey, when all else fails, a tidy little conspiracy theory is always preferable to facing reality.

"The Wikileaks emails showed Hillary as a liar and a cheat, and Obama as a liar. The substance of the emails was never disputed."

You make a good point. Had the WikiLeaks emails represented a vast collection of boring administrative nd political trivia that simply revealed the Clinton campaign as earnest partisans and wonks working 24/7 to get their candidate elected there would have been one big YAWN.*

* Sort of like those dud WikiLeaks State Department emails that got PFC Bradley, er, Chelsea Manning thrown in prison.

And here I thought after reading Wikileaks that Podesta lost his cell phone in a taxicab and that was the source of the leaks.
Maybe the cab driver was Russian.

Indeed. Do you remember the dump of Sarah Palin's emails as Governor of Alaska? The sinking leftists were all over those, thinking that Sarah was scum like them. Instead they found that she was hardworking, diligent, and doing her best to be a good Governor.

If Russia had intended to influence the American election by releasing hacked e-mails, they would have released the e-mails that they hacked from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's unencrypted home-brew server and multiple cell phones on November 6th.
