You have to admire their basic dictatorship, and how they can turn our Prime Minister on a dime…
The Liberal Party is employing an under-the-radar strategy that taps into the power of Justin Trudeau to generate tens of thousands of dollars from cash-for-access events at the homes of wealthy Chinese-Canadians that provide intimate face-time with the Prime Minister that can be used as business currency at home and in China.
Attendance figures suggest the party collects a minimum of $50,000 per event from donors – and up to $120,000 – in a system that revolves around rich entrepreneurs in Vancouver and Toronto, home to large Chinese-Canadian business communities with people willing to shell out $1,500 per ticket to meet Mr. Trudeau in a private setting.
Some of the guests and hosts at the intimate fundraisers are well-connected to China’s ruling Communist Party.

Former Liberal cabinet minister Raymond Chan, who was Mr. Trudeau’s British Columbia fundraiser in the 2015 election campaign, helps with fundraising activities on the West Coast, while Toronto business consultant Richard Zhou is a key organizer of these events in Ontario.
Mr. Chan was at the most recent Trudeau fundraiser, which was held on Nov. 7 at the West Vancouver mansion of B.C. developer Miaofei Pan, a multimillionaire from Wenzhou province who immigrated to Canada a decade ago. More than 80 guests got their pictures taken with Mr. Trudeau at the $1,500 per ticket event, including Mr. Chan.

that provide intimate face-time with the Prime Minister
Is this a new technique for the Liberals?
Intimate…
Fidel …
… or an old one?
These guys aren’t really such good business heads as they could have rented a dummy much cheaper at any costume store.
Another sponsorship scandal in the works? Arrogant politicians never learn and neither do those who vote for them.
Hopefully when Mr.Corriveau is sentenced to term and not to time served he will have a Damascian epiphany and realize that he should not serve the sentence alone. I may be alone in my thinking but I’d like to see the real crooks from the Chretien and Martin governments serve time for their participation and cover-up of the Adscam affair. If justice is to be served, it should be served cold and hard then it might make the politicians in power think twice before screwing the electorate over as many are wont to do. As a taxpayer of fifty years I’m sick and tired of how these ‘elected representatives’ think they are entitled to perks and extras, and then fabricate excuses to augment the perks and extras. If they are found with their sticky fingers in the cooky jar the penalty should be double since they all claim to be smarter than the people who elect them. The present occupiers of the Halls of Power are no exception, pay-for-play is the best example of the worst abuse of power there can be in a democracy.
What we’re seeing here is the Chinese Communist Party buying and owning the Liberal Party of Canada. Does Trudeau think he can actually turn down oil exports to China? Trudeau was bought and paid for by the Tong. They own him.
Oh, Come on! There is no pay to play in Canada. These business people are there to enjoy the oratory skills of Canada’s great thinker and leader. His great command of the language can only enhance those of the ESL community. And, the price is also a bargain. Hory Cow!
The Canadian Liberals have always tried to take as much advantage of the minority Canadian Chinese as they can.
I’m surprised Trudeau doesn’t demand a special Head Tax for all Canadian Chinese.
Why go for a few loose peanuts when you can shake down the whole tree, we?
He wants their help in turning around Canada’s economy on a dime. That dime is probably what it’ll cost the Chicoms to buy him.
Then again, should we be surprised? Wasn’t China one of PM Man Bun’s father’s favourite countries?
Big business is evil, but if they grease the palm of the ruling party, it’s a-okay. Doubly so if the business isn’t “white”.
Most lawyers who make it to the bench or who might get to lay charges against chretien and the other Adscammers are beholden to the libranos. They aren’t going to jeopardize their careers to go after the boss. Witness the sudden dismissal of 30+ charges against Duffy. The bench and the prosecution ( both liberals) couldn’t have agreed quicker on dismissal. An inside job if there ever was one.
The chretien crowd (Power Corp, Mo Strong) have been bought and paid for by the chicoms. Spud is heavily influenced by this bunch. If he delivers a west coast pipeline that will ensure tide water access expect big investment in the oilsands from China….replete with appropriate ‘finder fees’.
… at the homes of wealthy Chinese-Canadians …
What’s wrong with you Canada ? You don’t have the equivalent of a “Lincoln’s bedroom” to sell ? You’re forcing the boy-PM to hold sleep-overs at his friends homes ?
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree;

And therein lies the problem. The Canadian electorate have over the years eroded the rule of law by the governments we have elected and we have a system of one law for them and another for us. The number of times this has happened in history should be a warning to those of the legal profession and to ‘elected’ representatives. From Spartacus, Wat Tyler, Madame DeFarge, Doctor Zhivago, literature abounds in historic examples of what happens in societies that are stripped of their fundamental rights, examples that are conveniently glossed over in history books. We would do well to re-examine history and try and judge where we are positioned today and decide if we want to continue on this path.
“Don’t ask, don’t tell”
If can work in your nation, it can also in ours.
I believe this has been common practise in many nations throughout history. To show honour for someone with whom you desire to do business with, Nation to Nation, King to King, Ruler to Ruler, the practise of “tribute” is still fully functional.
Our socialist mentality (crabs in a bucket trying to get out and back to the sea) has pushed these tributes underground and into seedy alleys where no scrutiny is allowed. My suggestion is to make these “honours of tribute” an open and scrutinized ceremony, that way we as the citizens of the Nations can examine and vet the courters of our wealth and resources so as to determine if we are getting a good deal as a nation, not just getting the leftovers from the Master’s Table.
Because it is 2016.
I wonder what the private sector Unions think of Zoolander being bought by the Chinese what with his promise of more jobs for the Canadian manufacturing sector and all?
This proves that our hunky PM is even more popular than Hillary Clinton! Those numbers are higher than Hillary got from enlightened Americans from Hollywood!
Just because someone can do a thing that isn’t illegal, doesn’t mean that they should do something unethical.
People who are in the highest positions of trust should not violate that trust by doing unethical things.
There is absolutely no end to the inventive ways that human beings can do wrong.
Should government spend all of it’s time and taxpayer extracted revenue extrapolating the new twisted ways that antisocial people can think of to violate the trust of the other people among whom they live to write laws and regulations prohibiting the specific wrongs that can be wrought by these antisocial unethical people?
NO.
I wouldn’t even care to live in a society in which the rulers could even envision the potential new arcane ways in which the maladjusted can think of f@cking the rest of us.
That said: If someone is in the seat of power to which others have voted to entrust them with to represent their best interests, it behooves these elected representatives to behave in an honorable fashion at all times as such while they are holding that seat of power and honor.
When the Speaker of Parliament calls upon the “Honorable” MP from So-And-Such, the Speaker is not saying that the MP is intrinsically honorable, or that the MP should be “honored”.
The honorific the Speaker uses implies that the trusted personage of whom he speaks should act and comport themselves with HONOR in their representation of the people who voted for them and in the assembly of the House of Commons.
That personage should be honorable. Is unethical behavior honorable?
No, it is not.
From Beijing to Ottawa with love – PM Petite patate and the not ready for prime time commissars deliver a still-born Chi-com democratic balloting reform.
The single party state will have to wait until the next election cycle, as I’m sure the Conservatives are not bright enough to realize they just had their winning election issue served to them on fine China.
And speaking of nefarious associations, perhaps some media type might want to take a look at some of the fellows that out defence minister’s hanging out with these days? Ah, shoot! I forgot we no longer have investigative reporting in this country!
Successful capitalists? Har de har! Not one of those “capitalists” you speak of would want prying eyes into how they gained their wealth, while they buy property & influence over here. You obviously know nothing of Chinese society, that even after Mao’s tinkerings haven’t changed a wit over 4000 years.
It is not racist to point out that bribery is endemic in the Chinese system. How will Little Potato manage the expectations of those doners who will expect a return on their investment? The fact that he or his handlers allowed this to happen speaks to the immaturity in this government. You can see, without being partisan, the weakness that will destroy these clowns. That being said, it will likely take another election before the basic immaturity becomes so evident that the electorate turns on them. Pass the popcorn
