We need a famine

We need a famine

There were NO pumpkin spiced lattes available for Russians standing in bread lines of the Soviet Union. Proving once again how thoroughly "evolved" Socialism is, compared to the obscene Caucasian-privileged Capitalist Society.

wha.. who... duh... I got nothing. I cannot respond to that.

Actually... this makes me think of the "we'll show you Mark Ruffalo's penis" Hillary Clinto utube. Do they know they are doing self parody? Is it possible to be that far gone, and still be able to feed yourself?

People have too much time on their hands.

It's time to air-lift people to North Korea.

Happy Thanksgiving.

"and that ski slopes are sexist."

So, if a man is skiing down a slope in the Tetons, can he be charged with sexual assault? Because he is skiing down a slope covered with white snow, is he also racist?

I just wanna understand.......... Nah, that'll hurt my brain too much.

That's it. I give up. Time to shoot myself. )-:

I've been following the New Real Peer Review feed. Funny stuff. It confirms that far too many humanities and social science studies are creepily similar to the Postmodernism Generator. It certainly puts the claim that the value of a liberal arts university education is that it equips students with critical thinking skills on shaky ground.

Personally, I'm encouraging my children to look at Polytechnical schools with good engineering tech programs (or trades). The hands on repairing, maintenance and troubleshooting of electronics systems in a automated/robotic future will definitely pay better after 2 years than any 4 year degree in nonsense. It seems to me that these days a university education risks leaving you financially, intellectually and emotionally crippled.

Another thing about university education that is getting weird is their attempts to reinvent the English language. Between postmodern gobbledegook, the invention of boutique personal pronouns, and verboten words/phrases due to fears of micro-aggression - are progressives actually developing their own version of Newspeak? Or is it more like the medieval clergy using Latin to entrench their status? Regardless, if things continue at this rate the classes will actually be talking different languages in a generation. Busy, productive people have neither the time nor the inclination to bother with this type of silliness. Progressives insist that it's about politeness and tolerance but I'll believe that when I see politeness and tolerance shown towards non-progressives.

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. - Plato

Wake UP ! Citizens ... I know that we are all TOO DAMN BUSY to keep up with the Idiocracy which has seized power. I know that we have PRODUCTIVE JOBS that require our attention, but need we be given any more reminder of Plato's wisdom ? We are at a tipping point where the lunatics have seized control ... and are running amok.

"The hands on repairing, maintenance and troubleshooting of electronics systems in a automated/robotic future will definitely pay better after 2 years than any 4 year degree in nonsense."

Can appreciate some of your points. Anecdotally though, I have a son with an engineering diploma and a son with an engineering degree. They both work for the same large construction company. Currently they are paid close to the same. However, the one with the diploma is contemplating going back to school to get a degree because he sees the opportunities opening up for his brother that won't be available to him for a number of years to come.

This is yet further proof that the academic system needs to be permanently dismantled.

These buffoons are the embodiment of self-entitlement. They demand that they be allowed to make a living by cranking out this codswallop and that someone else forks over money for them to do their "research".

Much of this would end if the tenure system was abolished. Nowhere else can a person have a job for life while producing nothing but hogwash on someone else's nickle. It offers all the benefits of being a politician without the inconvenience or indignity of having to run for office.

Still, it's nice work if you can get it, eh?

Liberal arts should be a calling rather than a default pursuit for those who have no plans involving productive enterprise. If Liberal arts schools were privatized and students had to pay the full shot, the library card / internet would look a lot more attractive to students while limited budgets might prevent faculties from becoming dumping grounds for unemployable academics inventing irrational pursuits.

Margaret misses the point.
Social Sciences have nothing to do with science.
First rule of progressivedom, if it says science, truth or honesty is the title, you can be sure you will find none in the content.
The days of Universities are numbered, Dark Satanic Diploma Mills, saturated with society hating parasites.
They live at our expense and we know they hate us.
Could be a real public relations problem coming with the next financial collapse.
Academic wisdom= Borrow against the earnings of greatgrand children.
Then abort them.
So who pays the bill?

I'm certainly not criticizing Engineering degrees. In my experience they don't do actual physical work on equipment. Most of the engineers did office work with a bit of supervising of the tech and trade workers. My concern is that office type engineering and design work will be outsourced to low wage nations and techs are being promoted into supervisor jobs. Also, techs have to physically be there to fix equipment and, as anyone who works in maintenance knows, companies will pay as much overtime as necessary to keep systems on line.

In fact, I think a lot of professions are going to be hit by new technologies in automation and robotics - lawyers, surgeons, teachers, etc. Disruptive technology may have hit blue collar workers first but it is not stopping there.

Hey, is she also the one that penned the report named "The Perilous Blackness of Watermelons"?

Who knew there was a pumpkin entertainment complex apart from the grunge Smashing Pumpkins, of course.

Wrong target, Dustoff, we need that bullet for someone else.

"In fact, I think a lot of professions are going to be hit by new technologies in automation and robotics ..."

I'm not sure what you think automation and robotics is realistic. They accomplish repetitive tasks very well, but they don't handle unique situations. And they certainly can't make decisions - well, maybe they would be better than Samsung bean counters.

And if we have anything that's very well developed it's lawsuits and insurance companies - who in their right mind would outsource engineering etc. to an overseas company?

BTW: I think teachers (like public school and non-practical) are easily replaced.

These types of progressives are a self-fulfilling prophecy in the works. When all is said - and nothing is done - they will be dead and those of us that can build, hunt and grow will survive.

At least they will have accomplished their goal of saving the earth through depopulation.

We can certainly use fewer liberal "meteorologists" as well:

Hurricanes are racist?

I'm not so sure. I was reading about some automated lawyer program on the Internet that has a had pretty good record with minor traffic tickets (I can't find the story right now). It's not a stretch to imagine them doing other basics likes wills and real estate. As for engineering, it's already being done. One of my neighbors provides engineering for a company in the US. I doubt if his situation is unique. I know the tech to replace surgeons with robotics and/or doctors in other locations is not terribly far away. Overseas radiologists can already read your diagnostics.

I think teachers will be replaced by computers and class assistants. Two of my kids have had computer based, learn at your own pace math and they loved it. Combine that with the opportunity to learn from teachers who are the best in their field and you've got lower costs with better results.

Things move fast with technology. Kids are going to have to be more careful choosing careers and be able to change more quickly.

I do agree with you that simple tasks can be automated. Years ago we got a "wills book" with a program ... got it done for chump change.

Contracting for services, I also understand. However, I don't believe that your neighbor, if he was based in India, would ever get the contract.

I believe that overseas radiologists can read diagnostics. How much of that is done in Canada? I also believe that just about 100% of hospital administration can be farmed out ... how much of that is being done?

I can just see a drunken Russian radiologist with cigarette in mouth, ashes falling on the x-ray, a glass of Vodka in hand, trying to diagnose a cracked femur !!

''Yesh Dr. Zhivahgo, za bone izz krakked!!''

Re: Free last will and testimony.

Obviously you haven't died yet so you don't know if it's any good!!

Where do people get all these ideas??

I thought it was fried chicken they loved??

"merely one of countless academics trolling in the fertile field of race and gender studies"

Fixed!

The "academics" columnist Wente describes are fricking nuts.

Hurricane Matthew apparently was racist AND respected.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather-gang/wp/2014/06/02/female-named-hurricanes-kill-more-than-male-because-people-dont-respect-them-study-finds/

(Therefore female hurricanes are inherently more racist than male hurricanes because they aren't respected.)

...and to pass the relevancy test; here is hurricane Cara in Starbucks

https://youtu.be/mXYzgTLoQjY/

I don't respect her.

The young lady reminds me of a line from Macbeth: "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
