The Wall Street Journal has reported that the Justice Department strongly objected to the cash payment to Iran. As we shall see, that should come as no surprise. What is surprising is the Journal's explanation of Justice's concerns: Department officials, it is said, fretted that the transaction looked like a ransom payment. I don't buy that. It is not a federal crime to pay a ransom; just to receive one. Our government's stated disapproval of paying ransoms is a prudent policy, not a legal requirement. The Justice Department's principal job is to enforce the laws, not to ensure good policy in foreign relations. It seems far more likely that Justice was worried that the transaction was illegal. If they were, they had good reasons.

I suppose it had to be done that way because there weren't enough plain brown envelopes available.
If America is to be truly restored to greatness ... then President Trump needs to make Hillary, Obama, and J.F. Kerry all make perp walks into Federal (pound you in the ass) Prison.
Treason.
I think the plane was painted brown.
Brown?
Were the windows painted over? ha
-
This crap happened back in Jan. and we were kept behind darkened windows for eight months.
At least we have some Good news-
Since Hillary and Bill protested the Vietnam War back in the 1960s,
they have wiped out a small company of democrat voters..

and the drug running out of Mena, that one, if investigated properly, includes W H Bush. But instead of a run around investigation, just go to the jail were James Files is held, he'll bring you up to speed on that.
Laws?
Those are for the "little people".
In the Idiocene governments exist to breach contracts and ensure the "proper" people can cheat, steal and lie with immunity.
Today we acknowledge a whole new ethical standard; Good Enough For Government.
Harper helped Hillary to depose Ghadaffi.
Harper did NOTHING about the High River gun grab.
Harper did NOTHING about C-68.
Harper is almost as much of a quisling as Trudeau.
The difference is in degree, not kind.
What they did is called money laundering and if any CEO or CFO for any American corporation did this they'd already have been arrested, charged and arraigned by now. But alas this is Obozo, and his liberal lame stream media, so they'll do all his legwork and protect his criminality. Why because they sheep and they've been given their marching orders
Mike;
In retrospect I have a lot of questions about who set the political agenda during the Harper years. I agreed with efforts taken to broaden the Canadian global trading effort but the Reform base seemed to forget their political goals once in Ottawa.
Now we have a leadership contest going on which is hardly inspiring. Old Reformers are bailing and not providing the leadership one would have expected. They gutted the riding associations and resumed the top down approach that the progressives always preferred.
The bottom line is that he had a majority, and did very little with it. The tired excuse that "conservatives" don't have the balls to effect meaningful change in the Right direction just doesn't fly anymore. They are complicit.
Harper may be accused of pussyfooting on several issues,. Rightly or wrongly, concerning the pace of change he'd intended to implement, Harper likely gauged the appetite of the 60% wrongheaded gauntlet surrounding him, then went about it more slowly than most of us would have liked. Given the outcome, many of us believe it was a mistake to succumb to the fallaciousness of the "balanced approach." That is why it would be an enormous mistake now for the CPC not to be even more resolved rightward when electing new leadership. When the Turdeau romance ends terribly, people will be looking for something quite opposite from the status quo, as they are in a big way in the US.
Mike,
The Conservative were blocked from implementing their agenda, if the public service didn't like it try getting it implemented. The SCOC knocked them back many times.
AND you are right, they got distracted in Ottawa too. They could have done more to push back.
The Red Tories are going to take the party back and I could care less. Too many Canadians have been bought and paid for that I am confident that the conservative values I cherish, small government, with less regulation will never see the light of day.
It's too bad, Canada has so much potential.
Harper could have done as much as the current "leader" is doing, but to push a Right agenda. He did no such thing.
Bill C-68 could have been overturned.
The High River gun-grab could have been investigated, or at least the victims could have been supported in their fight for justice.
etc.
I tend to agree with you, for now and the foreseeable future, small, limited government seems to be right off the table, at all levels, although there does seem to be some push-back at the global government level, like Brexit, Trump, Poland, Austria, etc.
Don't know why this thread turned to Harper hatred when it is supposed to be about how corrupt Obama/Clinton are. Try to stay on topic - Harper is no longer PM but Obama is still the most corrupt, inept president in US history and Clinton will surpass him by a very very significant margin if she takes over the oval office.
It's a glass house/throw stones thing.
Harper hatred. LOL.
I wonder if Obama will try to pardon himself just before leaving office? :-)
I'm thinking that he might pardon the Hillbeast. After all, it helps if one takes office with a clean slate.
Shoulda used brown envelopes like da adscam.Your buddy da liddle guy from da Shawinigan Jean.
