(Oooops sorry!!) A guy walks into a restaurant in Sherbrooke, PQ. He orders beef tartare. The waiter messes up and brings him salmon tartare. The customer (who suffers from serious allergies) ends up in the hospital in a near death situation.
Question: Should the waiter be charged and/or face jail time??

An idiot with serious food allergies, left his epi-pen in the car, walked into a restaurant and ordered a raw meat dish, and nearly died from his foolishness. Mistakes happen in restaurants just like mistakes happen in operating rooms.

Seven per cent of all patients admitted to acute care hospitals in Canada (or about 158,000 Canadians a year) will suffer a medical misadventure. Close to 60,000 of these cases are preventable. About 150 patients die a year as a result of adverse medical events. About the same number that die from firearm homicide.

They seldom if ever charge doctors, and there's no reason to start charging waiters or cooks.

Since he explained his allergy twice and asked that kitchen staff be informed, I think there was negligence on the part if the waiter. Jail time is probably extreme. Likely the water has already lost his job. Giving the incident profile is good as a way to alert people to the seriousness of some allergies. I can see the incident being used in training cooks and wait staff. A scary episode for sure.

I had heard the story, Plainzfyre, and understood the first posting, which was shorter and to the point.

I agree. The guy is deadly allergic to seafood but can't taste the difference between beef tartar and salmon tartar. Why is he ordering that dish in a restaurant?

I agree there's more to blame than the waiter, it could have been the cook who put up the order. There should also be some personal responsibility as well, always keep that epipen in our pocket or purse. If someone is that allergic is it even safe to eat in any restaurant that serves all types of food? It's a tragedy for all concerned.

I'm sure Putin is shaking in his boots.

I think those claims are bogus. Someone at the event with the crying baby said Trump handled this well and with humour, and she could not believe the media reports afterwards. He did NOT criticize a dead soldier -- he responded to criticisms from the PAID stooge father who supports Sharia, Muslim Brotherhood and also benefits from Muslim immigration. Trump is getting sell-out crowds. I think the media and the elites are hoping to psychologically intimidate him. It's nuts. Hillary is the one who is looking like she may not have the stamina to last through the election.

I did not bother to read the article -- I can imagine what it must say. Many of us are cringing, but the dopes who elected this guy do not understand why. Barbara Kay has an article about how this shirtless performance really undermines the dignity of office. Interestingly, lost of the comments were defending Trudeau. I think those people have no idea of the concept of the dignity of office. Part of the problem also is that they have little grasp about what we should be seeking in a Prime Minister. Harper, presumably, was not "friendly" enough -- but the PM is not your neighbor. You do not expect the same casual and jovial persona as you might want in a neighbor. Justin probably makes a fine neighbor -- but he is a p**s-poor PM. As Canadians continue to respond positively to this poseur, my faith in the intelligence of the Canadian public continues to diminish. It is all very sad.

We have witnessed years of pointing, smirking and laughing, at a bare-chested Putin.

He would be the kind of neighbor who always borrowed your tools and brought them back broken with apologies and promises to replace them... but it never happens. However he does invite you to his house parties and that's supposed to make up for everything else because he's so socially popular.

Jean - here is how it was explained to me. If you go through a stop sign ,you get charged / convicted. If a doctor goes through a stop sign you must be able to prove no other doctor would go through that stop sign.
