...authorities in the United States believe unknown assailants deliberately targeted a pipeline under construction in central Iowa.

According to the Insurance Journal, around US$1 million in equipment at three building sites of the Dakota Access pipeline including heavy machinery were damaged in a series of fires.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office reported that they were alerted to the first blaze on 1 August at approximately 6:00 AM at a farm field 4.5 miles west of the town of Newton. Deputies were subsequently informed of a second pipeline equipment blaze about 2.5 miles southeast of Reasnor, followed by a third fire where four machines were damaged north of Oskaloosa.

These would be the same "earth firsters" who spiked trees and burned logging equipment.

I thought laying waste to surrounding food crops was a terrible food crime. The perps not only want to stop your car in its tracks, they want you to starve as well.

Thus the farmer will have to abandon his tractor with no fuel, and pick up the sickle and rake to harvest the crops...

New Age efficiency...!

An assault against hardworking farmers, and oil & gas workers.

So as punishment to the perps, the vagabond's vehicle is ceremoniously set alight; and they return to the caves whence they came, sporting corn husk leaves as clothing?

Cheers

Backward is the new forward.

What do they mean - a pipeline under construction? Or is it only Canadian pipelines that damage the environment?

Oil pipelines are "dangerous" !!!!!!!! ... yeah ... when attacked by faux-Eco-zealots.

This reminds me of all the wildfires in CA ... rarely do we ever get reports of the ignition source. I am convinced that a fair number are arson. But it is never reported and never prosecuted.

Civil society has always been frayed around the edges, but watch out. It is impossible to protect all the infrastructure – there's a lot of it and it's spread all over the country. An army can't protect all of it, and one guy with a match, wrench or bomb can destroy a multi-million dollar project and cast wide swarths of the country into darkness.

Track them down and hang them from the tallest tree. Or submerge in a hot tub full of piranhas.

These peaceful liberals, every bit the good citizens that muslims are.

Exactly! Making some highly onerous consequences for the perps is the best way to defend against such.

You mean like the 250,000 fine for not referring to a transgendered in the manner they desire?

Is Weibo Ludwig on holidays in Iowa?

I work in the Bakken. I just drove thru Newtown 3 hours ago. 4.5 miles Westof Newtown is an Indian Reservation.

This reminds me of Fort McMurray, CANADA......sure makes you wonder!!

Most fires in southern California are arson. No lightning strikes here. I believe the arsonist was seen setting the fire in Santa Clarita. They may not announce such matters to discourage "copycats" which are fairly common in arson.
