Oh, Shiny Prime Minister

Sunny ways, my friends!

Canada's employment market caved in July, unexpectedly losing tens of thousands of jobs -- most on them full-time positions, with Ontario taking the brunt of the declines -- and pushing the jobless rate higher.

Perfect timing.

But but but just a few days ago Huffpo was trumpeting the success of Wynne's economics. Of course Rachel is doing her best by hiring more snivel servants so I'm sure all is well. Sunni Daze!

Unemployment is up. Exports are down. Too bad we don't have a commodity (such as oil) that we could sell to the rest of the world. Alberta's unemployment is the highest it's been in over 20 years and will get higher as the carbon tax and minimum wage laws kick in. The anticipated exports from Ontario manufacturing are not happening. It's going to be a long time before Canada "recovers" from the recession that didn't happen but was blamed on Harper anyway.

Meanwhile, Red Rachel's approval rating's down by around 20% since taking office. Of course, this would mean that the NDP would be turfed in the next election.

However, I don't think it'll make any difference. She'll continue to forge ahead to "transform" (i. e., wreck) Alberta to fulfill the objectives of the Revolution. If the Dippers lose, so much the better as they will be elevated into the pantheon of communist heroes and will be venerated as martyrs for the cause.

At this pace the headlines will read: "worse economic expansion since Stephen Harper!"

"The budget will balance itself"... everyone knows that... Hey, the good news is that fearless leader Trudeautard was walking around in public with his shirt off, so that should help... also, gay parades... yay! I'm no economist but wouldn't a few more well placed selfies create some jobs. Also, the Media that helped put Trudeautard in power and continue to act as his personal PR firm say that Trump is "crazy" and "racist"... Hmmmmm, maybe it would help Trump and instill confidence in his mental stability if he walked around with his shirt off too... like I said I'm no economist. Any whooo... how does the economy grow again? Oh yeah, "from the heart outwards"... time for a carbon tax on everything and more shirtless selfies with other peoples children... that should create jobs, right? Oh, and more parades, gay ones... and "stimulus spending" (wink-wink) building more Mosques, that should create jobs. Oh, and from now on all Supreme Court "judges" have to speak french, because Trudeautard said so thats why.

Wait, so when the Red Dyke creates government jobs she actually destroys more private sector jobs? Who would have thought?

Just wait until Going Galt is fashionable...and for the life of me, can't figure out how it isn't already in Ontario.

Kate

This is from an email I got listing UK business losses under EU auspices so you need to check

" Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it's Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada."

Its the inevitable result of the ideology.
Higher taxes, higher unemployment, and a lower standard of living.
Welcome to the second decade of darkness.

Is there no low too low for Big Business that they would deliberately shed jobs just to make the media's beloved Prime Minister look bad?
Why all the bashing of civil servants?
As we saw with the Harperman song, they are non partisan and only interested in the good for Canadian society!!

It's time for a referendum to kick both Queerbec and Ontariowe OUT of Canada. Where's a good revolution when you need one?

That was funny Dan T. I was thinking more along the line of "Canada struggles to shake off Harper economy".

When Canada turns into Venezuela under these idiots.

I will be standing at the border selling apples with a large sign that says:

"Hey Brother Can You Spare A Dollar?"

Shirtless PM may be a sign of things to come....More people are losing their jobs, hence their shirts and it's all about politics of and by the stupid. Trudeau's biggest supporter, the stammering Wynne has Ontario on the skids big time and still spending. Just wait until Justine's cabal changes the voting system...they will because who is going to stop an arrogant Liberal government? We will then become closer to a socialist wasteland.

Can anyone even imagine the cartoons and outrage if Mr Harper had been photographed in public shirtless?

Trudeau is making the Office of Prime Minister his big show, a tabloid delight.

"If Mr.Harper had been photographed in public shirtless"
And with other people's children to boot, and wasn't there a cave involved? Just saying.

yup, if Turd-A-Loo would only pass a $20 min wage law, all would be well

With a 30K+ job loss, the PM must have fired more Nannies and Personal Assistants.

Alas for the children's crusade now in Ottawa, the country's ups and downs tend to proceed as they will, oblivious to the charm of government-mandated rainbows, unicorns and gumdrops.

Because, after all, it's 2016.

Before WW1 we had no income tax and do you know why??
We taxed countries like china, that payed for our roads and schools.
We understood that we cant compete with slave labor, and no environmental standards.
There is nothing free or even capitalist with what we do today, its all rigged so the 1 percent gets richer. Voting is a waste of time, they all support the same goal.

He is 10 months in. It has been an extended honeymoon as there have been lots of symbolic things, changes in tone, census, rhetoric on climate change and aboriginals as well as the change in messenger to the "friendly" PM...don't underestimate the impact all his hugging and mugging has in the short to medium term.

But, there have been no major decisions or actions. The government has done little outside implement some existing plans of the Harper Government and signalled the changes in spending. They are consulting a ton. Once again, change in tone and the illusion of being open. Where I am going is once they make decisions and begin implementation then there are real winners and real losers and real foreseeable impacts.

1) Pipelines
2) F 35
3) Bombardier bailout
4) Real Economic numbers and deficits they are responsible for
5) Electoral Reform
6) ISIS policy and plan
7) Carbon Tax (see 4)
8) Senate appointments
9) SCC appointments
10) TPP

Bunch of unknowns
1) Terror attacks, blowback on immigration policy
2) US election blowback on trade policy and military policy
3) The inevitable scandal, there are a few brewing lets see where they go.

Hot Take: lots of activity, very little action in first year. This year should be tougher for them as they either take actions that piss some people off OR they continue to do nothing and that label begins to take hold.

Keys to making life difficult for them in mid term. Defeating Wynne, there are other real reasons for Ontarions to do this but they are one and the same government. Defeating Notley, she is an enabler. I would argue finding a way to defeat Nenshi would help but isn't critical. Reelect Clark

JT continues to try to do things, that knowingly or unknowingly involve Provinces. Having less supine actors in place is key. Both for the general state of the Federation and that I don't think this government thinks of the country this way and will not deal well with direct and open challenges and conflict.

Hot air

I am so jealous. At least your press is reporting reality as opposed to our seasonally adjusted job reports here in the USA

GDP growth is simply not in the cards for most of the modern world. Much of this is driven by below replacement population growth. Deflationary.

Would things have been different with Harper at the helm? No IMHO. Would I feel more confident that Harper would have been a steadier hand on Canada's dealing with global crisis? Most certainly.

Just as I think that progressives have won the battle for the minds of most Canadians I also think that a great question for Canadian history will be how much foreign countries or their citizens played in ensuring Harper's defeat. I am no longer a big fan of the conservative movement in Canada as I hold them responsible for dropping the ball and have a chronic problem of communicating a coherent philosophy. All this considered Harper was the best PM in many decades as he began to chart a independent economic direction away from the USA. I am not hostile to the USA but economically Canada's lazy over reliance on the USA market was/is extremely risky. The USA has a vested interest in maintaining this reliance.

When the inevitable debt burst Canada will be horribly exposed and I suspect will break apart as a result.

Smart liberal style Prosperity hard at work. Just(in) dream it and it will happen. Wynne and Trudeau should both be given mental competency tests, its clear they both suffer from multiple cognition disorders.

Um Ah, ah, ah, ah. Yes but, but we created all those new census jobs.
And ah, ah, we must await the tabulation of those results.

I don't know wtf is wrong with you people! Justin appeared shirtless, for Allah's sake! And a New York "journalist" lusted about him in a column!

We're World Class!

World class idiots for the most part, having elected this office boy to PM.

According to an article in McLean's, by Trudeau worshipper Paul Wells, Trudeau hopes to convince Blackrock, an in vestment management company with a $5 trillion USD portfolio, to invest in Canada's infrastructure building program.

I guess it's too much to hope for with today's generation, but to the rest of us it is SO obvious and goddamned insulting how the LPC played and continues to play the "celebrity" card, while the msm is complicit with their never-ending articles of Justin in Tofino, Justin shirtless, Justin selfies, while the economy tanks and the bastards lay on more taxes.

Color me "Pissed Off"!

Ontario does have a rather robust black market, which, apparently, is getting a lot of encouragement from Wynne.

I miss Prime Minister Steven Harper.

Between Red Rachel and Justin the Shirtless, I might have to learn how to hunt and skin buffalo as that might be the only way I'll be able to eat.

This was all part of the plan, everyone.

Don't forget to thank your local Liberal voter.

How can Alberta have lost 100,000 jobs when Red Rachel hired 50,000 by herself? I think that means that Alberta lost 150,000 productive jobs. Don't let anyone tell you it is because of low oil prices. We were cooking better when oil was $ 10 per barrel. I's 100 % to do with the stinking commies scaring business by huge increases in taxes, borrowing, and spending.

I'm not worried. The labor market will balance itself.

I came across the following quote earlier today and I'm sure that it provides a valid explanation for Red Rachel and her commies going berserk:

"We must make this an insecure and inhospitable place for capitalists and their projects. We must reclaim the roads and plowed land, halt dam construction, tear down existing dams, free shackled rivers and return to wilderness millions of tens of millions of acres of presently settled land."

David Foreman, Earth First!

It appears the Liberal media thinks we can't get too much of Justin. What's up next? A cheesecake shot of him in a Speedo?

I also found this little gem:

"I suspect that eradicating smallpox was wrong. It played an important part in balancing ecosystems."

John Davis, editor of "Earth First! Journal"

Kind of says it all, doesn't it?

That's form a 'business section/report.'

MSM is still drooling over the Pretty Boy.This will go no where.

PS..Captcha celebrating an Italian festival today?

"PS..Captcha celebrating an Italian festival today? "

I wondered it it means that ISIL followers don't do Italian?

I am no longer a big fan of the conservative movement in Canada as I hold them responsible for dropping the ball and have a chronic problem of communicating a coherent philosophy.
I agree. They squandered the majority government we gave them.

Ontario is wynning the war on jobs

The CPC's leadership situation doesn't look promising right now. I've never been impressed by Rona Ambrose as an MP, though, while interim boss, she hasn't made things worse.

The only candidate that's running so far who seems to have any credibility is Bernier, and that's not saying a lot.

Eradicating smallpox and a host of other infectious diseases "at home" was a good idea. Eradicating disease in the overpopulated tropical regions allowed humans to continue breeding like rodents and migrating to the cities like rats to form the world's mega-slums. Meddling by 'do-gooders' is almost always Verschlimmbesserung -- the German word for "improvement that makes things worse."

Don't forget that, throughout most of history, one reason people had large families was due to the high rate of child and infant mortality resulting from illness. By eradicating a major disease, such as smallpox, the consumption of available natural resources would be correspondingly reduced, though not necessarily right away.

It reminds me of a variety of coupled differential equations known as predator-prey systems. Change the value of a parameter in an expression and there would often be a lag before the effect would appear in the other one.

Only bright side is that consultants (or lieberal pals) are working (?) harder than ever.
But then again I see a lot of help wanted signs. Only per-requeset is that you have to be able to say:" Do you want fries with that?"

The Conservatives did not squander their Majority. The Media led by the Parlimentry Press Galley began a stratagem when Harpers merger of the Conservative parties presented a threat. Their subterfuge began by casting Him as the Hick with funny hair and outlandish clothes to the creation of Scandals where He stole the Elections. The press Galley called a meeting of the reporters from printed media. The purpose of the meeting soon became apparent. It was "Get Harper". the methods included was to emphasize any Liberal concocted hyperbole, and to not print
any favorable publicity. The reporters present gave their assent by not questioning; except for Christie Blatchford who stood and emphaticlly stated She would maintain Her integrity. One result was tying Duffy to Harper. It was the Conservative Party that refused Duffys statements of expenses, and when Duffy attempted to appeal to Him not only refused Him But brought it to the Caucus that there was to be no connection between the Governing Conservatives and the Party, and no dealing with Duffy.Duffys Senate expenses fiascoD followed.

Following WW II 60% of the labor force was in Agriculture. Today it is below 10%. We have labor cutbacks in the Insurance Industry, Banking and now they are looking to replace Grocery Store cashiers. The cutbacks due to computers, and Robots has had a profound effect. The importing without Tarriffs of manufactured goods
ability to buy"fresh"vegetables and fruit From the other side of the world, has dramatically cut jobs and will continue to do so.. Those cuts leaving high unemployment with line ups for any job openning, resulting in wages being held at the 1988 level while cost of living escalated at 4% a yr. The American Multi Nationals set the pace when handed some 40 Billion to stimulate the economy, waited a couple of months then used the stimulouse money to outsource their Factories, saying sorry but the American middle class can't afford our products so we must go to where wages are lower then we can reduce prices. We both have Governments that are not even discussing the need for a plan !
