Thanks for the song!!
Speaking of drinking songs!
In 1997 I was on a tour bus near the site of the Battle of the Little Bighorn in Montana. There was once a town near there named Garryowen. An elderly lady asked why it was named Garryowen. The bus driver explained that it was an old Irish drinking song that had been adapted as the the official song of the US Army 7th Cavalry. It was played for Custer’s army as they left for the battle of the Little Bighorn. The elderly lady (sitting across the aile from me) looked at me and said, ”It seems all Irish songs drive from drinking songs.”
Enjoy!! And note there are a wide variety of lyrics to this song. https://youtu.be/pZuGQJVftsk
Oops sorry, that line should read: ”It seems all Irish songs derive from drinking songs.”
I remember that the 7th Cavalry was one of the units that took part in the 2003 campaign in Iraq. I never heard if “Garryown” was played when it entered Baghdad.
By the way, TCM will be showing “They Died With Their Boots On” on Wednesday. Hey, why not? It’s got Errol Flynn as George Custer and Olivia de Havilland as his wife!
It’s A-OK for elitist Dems to erect a wall to protect them from American citizens but it is wrong for Reps to build a wall to protect American citizens from foreign invaders. Only in a leftist mind.

At least two groups that include Canadian pension funds are planning to submit bids this week for a minority stake in TransCanada Corp.’s Mexican pipeline business valued at about US$2 billion, people with knowledge of the matter said.
Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Public Sector Pension Investment Board and Borealis Infrastructure Corp. have formed a consortium to make an offer for the stake of as much as 49.9 per cent of the business, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private.
Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec’s new Mexican joint venture, CKD Infraestructura Mexico SA, also is preparing to make a proposal for the pipeline stake, the people said.
Mexico represents a unique opportunity for the Canadian pension funds, which have a long history of investing in infrastructure assets around the globe. In addition to the Caisse’s joint venture in the country started last September, Canada Pension and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan teamed up with a local partner in June to make their first investment in Mexican infrastructure, a toll road operator in the country.
The Mexican government recently implemented a four-year, 7.7-trillion peso (US$411 billion) plan for infrastructure investments targeting energy, transportation and other projects.

There are a variety of semi-auto tools for shooting .223/5.56 ammo. In my experience the Garand action of the Ruger ranch rifle is easier to clean and maintain, less prone to jamming and misfires, far less ‘threatning’ to hoplophobes, and more compact than most of the AR-15 variants. It’s almost as ruggedly indestructible as the soviet AK action, but far more accurate. It’s also available in the 7.62×39 AK-47 cartridge which can be loaded to 30-30 power in a compact semi-auto rifle, especially if fitted with a pistol-grip folding-butt fiberglas stock.
AR-15s are like pit bulls and come with too much ‘baggage’ that outweighs their usefulness in other than a close combat situation.
