    You may have met Haynes as a publisher of vehicle workshop manuals. Something slightly different is their
    “RR Merlin Owners’ Workshop Manual”
    Which is more a history of how it came to be rather than how to get yours back to flying condition.
    Goes into detail of flying them and the keeping of them flying including repro of parts.
    Also mentions that a Merlin still has a hair raising sound of its own.
    You don’t usually think of RR as “hotrodders in business suits and bowler hats” but that’s about the picture on how they about doubled its horsepower.
    There is a section on the Griffons that went into later Spitfires as well.

    I don’t have a link but there are UT’s on the test flight of IIRC the only airworthy one.
    And IIRC Ardmore NZ have recreated the formwork for redoing Mosqiuto fuselages. From there the wings etc are pretty standard wooden aircraft carpentry – which was the original model.
    And then there was the German copy FW Ta 154. How to wreck an advanced wooden aircraft project? Bomb the glue factory.

    The red number 7 won.
    The only thing that sounds better than a stock supercharged Merlin V12 is hot rodded supercharged Merlin V12 at nearly 500 MPH.
    800 bucks will get you an unofficial 20 minute ride in a stock Mustang at Reno during during race week, and it’s worth every penny.
    The official rate is about $1500.00.

Is anyone else feeling a bit fed up with a freaking young pipsqueak we call Prime Minister telling us more seasoned residents of this country what’s good for us and how he’s going to change how we do things as a country? I expect if we sit back and let it all happen he’ll be erasing history as well as they are wont to do in his home province of Quebec. God help us all.

With post candidates’ bumps and the Orlando gun control incident behind us, Hillary and the Donald are again neck and neck, with incredulously the Dems slightly leading in dealing with terrorism and the economy. The optimist in me would say lots of room for Hillary to drop and the Donald to grow.

    Oh, really? Sir John A. Macdonald was a Scot. Sir Robert Borden was born in Nova Scotia. Mackenzie King was from Ontario.
    On the other hand, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. It seems that Canadian history isn’t taught in schools any more. I was at a store several years ago and I paid with, I think, a $100 bill. I told the cashier that a “picture of Robert Borden” would cover the cost and all I got a blank “huh?” look.
