Not A Lot Of People Know That…
Germany, the ‘high priest of this movement, had installed the equivalent of a million barrels of oil a day of renewable capacity, between solar and onshore wind.
“Solar is working at 50,000 a barrels a day and 10 per cent utilisation, wind is at 70,000 barrels a day – 17 per cent utilisation – so that million barrel a day field is working at a 130,000 barrels a day. You cannot replace baseload with intermittent and promise the people it’s going to work.”
“The Germans were promised this would all be worthwhile because it would reduce carbon dramatically. Yet their carbon emissions per capita are 40 per cent above the UK, France and Italy.”
More – Renewables “Surge” From 1.2% To 1.4%!!

That’s why they’re all against clean nuclear power.
BTW, Germany (that well-known tsunami zone) is running dirty brown-coal power plants to replace the nuke plants they shut down.
Germany is the birthplace of socialism, multi-culturalism and the green movement. Germans create great beer, fine reisling wines, excellent cars and ruinous social policies.
PS Excellent cars do not have the engine hanging out behind the rear axle.
You forgot sausages.
As well as sausages, you forgot great Hugo Boss uniforms. Bismarck started the social programs to deflect the aims of the 1848 European revolutionaries.
Great links Kate.
Fossil fuels have proven to be equal to “renewables” as more efficient and high tech techniques are developed to access a much greater volume of reserves underground (and under the sea).
To intentionally CHOOSE the least efficient and most costly energy source is typical of the “soft” sciences that don’t deal in HARD numbers … but SOFT-headed politically-driven “science” and “technology”
And as an environmentalist … I am thoroughly DISGUSTED at the proliferation of UGLY windmills covering pristine landscapes and seascapes. Not even Ted Kennedy would allow these to spoil the views from his seaside Cape Cod Estate
Perhaps the German carbon consumption is 40% larger than France, Italy and the UK because they actually have an economy and Germans actually work for a living.
Got it in one
One of the authors in the report mentions that “We may destroy a system without something sustainable in the aftermath.” The whole point of green philosophy is to destroy the industrial revolution, period. They don’t care about sustaining anything in the aftermath.
There was a German Comedy show on this a couple of years ago, complete with the spinning crucifix of this new religion.
Bingo! Mo Strong said “We have to deindustrialize the west”.
I read that Germany is yanking subsidies to wind and solar.
