this reminds me of the bernardo case. debbie mahaffey, mother of Leslie Mahaffey one of his victims, decided to wield powah and ‘teach’ her defiant daughter a ‘lesson’ by locking her out of the house the night of her disappearance ie kidnapping by bernardo who raped and murdered her, cut her body up and tossed it into the reservoir of the city of St Catharines.
gee debbie mahaffey, why not do this: set up an alarm clock set to Leslie’s curfew time and leave it in the living room. if she gets home on time she turns the alarm off and turns the TV on. if she doesnt, it wakes you up and you DEAL WITH IT IN THE MORNING *after* she finally gets home WITH the key. but no, you have to ‘show her who’s boss’ and lock her out without a key. you betcha. you showed her didn’t you. all in the interests of exercising and showing exactly who has the powah.
It’s not as if someone’s going to squeeze out the alcohol and drink it. There’s a reason why bottles of isopropyl alcohol, which is sold at just about any pharmacy, have poison warnings on them. A swig of that stuff could mean a one-way trip to a morgue.
The really scary part about it is that this extends to the use of alcohol for the purposes of cleaning and disinfecting. I can just see what effect that’ll have on our medical system.

Something I picked up off the internet. Hard to believe they can provide interventions to change ‘Climate Deniers’ behaviour. What about the reverse for the Enviro hypocrites? Should have known it would come to this with TIDES Canada involved. Green Treats?

Enviromentum, a Project of Tides Canada has delivered Climate Conversations workshops with more than 500 people. Amongst these 500 people we’ve experienced denial first hand – but have never been caught unawares.
The approach you learn in this experiential learning workshop will help you to converse constructively with what we have come to call “Climate Deniers”. The source of this conversational skill is in the behavioural sciences. As an intervention it is proven just as effective at helping people quit smoking as the nicotine patch!

I seem to recall similar mentality more than 30 years ago from people who were against cruise missile testing over northern Canada. Those who didn’t agree with them were unenlightened igoramuses and had to be “converted” to their way of thinking.
In both cases, the “evangelists” were usually–wait for it!–leftists.
They do give John McCallum the keys to the liquor cabinet in Ottawa than place him at the helm of 80,000 + immigrants.

Renewable energy a cost-effective option for Arctic: study

New research suggests some Nunavut communities could cut their fossil fuel use by up to half with renewable energy that wouldn’t cost any more than the aging diesel generators they now use.
The study comes as the federal and territorial governments consider what to do about northern communities that rely on diesel to generate electricity.
In Nunavut, 13 of the territory’s 17 generators are more than 35 years old.
All are expensive to run and emit greenhouses gases and black carbon, which contributes to the melt of sea ice.
The study, led by the World Wildlife Fund, has concluded that proven wind and solar technologies could cut diesel use by up to 50 per cent in at least five communities without costing them more.
Nunavut has asked Ottawa for $250 million to replace and upgrade the territory’s power plants and energy infrastructure.
