Teddy Government Waste Awards

Focusing on the Municipal here. City of Calgary for its waste station art project, a.k.a. "the poop palace".

Not to be out-done, of course:

Municipal - City of Victoria: For spending $10,000 on installing musical sensors on the stairwell railings in a municipal parking garage

Municipal - City of Saskatoon: Two separate nominations, for a $5.3 million money-losing parking system that doesn't work well in cold weather and spending $462,000 on a decorative lighting system on a bridge that was subsequently torn down.

Yes, you read that right. The card/coin slots freeze up. No one thought to find out about winter use. Not that that's ever a problem here in Saskatchewan.

The height of Kleptocracy.
They even give themselves awards.
They call these bonuses, which never go to people who limit public spending.
Every March confirms governments will never limit their theft voluntarily.

The City of Guelph paid a $5.4 million lawsuit settlement as a result of its unfair dismissal of Urbacon, the new City Hall's construction contractor. However, it won't pay $50K a year to control thousands of Canadian Geese which foul all its parks and cause traffic chaos. I'd like to nominate them for the Teddy Government Waste Award.

Too many Muslims crying foul? Couldn't get any Muslims to work for the company?

No wonder, with a name like UR-Bacon...Urbacon

That would be a total human rights violation. I'll bet the CHRT will be all over that one. Ezra should have a field day, as well as some much needed wisdom on how to defeat those wankers! Or maybe that is why they already received the payout.

I'm so glad Trudeau stopped the muzzling of our scientists. Now they are able to do important work like this:

Cadbury’s Caramilk bars not chocolate, says edit from defence department network

Someone in the Department of National Defence is a real stickler when it comes to sweets.

A Wikipedia page for the Cadbury Caramilk bar was anonymously edited by a computer with a DND Internet Protocol address, according to the Twitter handle Government of Canada Edits. The edit corrected the erroneous information that the confection is a chocolate bar.

On the Cadbury Caramilk page, the word “chocolate bar” was changed to “candy bar,” and “chocolate exterior” was clarified to reflect that it is merely “chocolate flavoured.”

When taxpayer funded facilities at all levels of government are slated for near term
surprise closure it is not unusual for regular maintenance and upgrade schedules
extending some time into the future to be immediately implemented.
Conversely, when new, special, someone else's pet budget, energy saving programs
are going to be implemented in a few years, it is also not that unusual for the present
old but satisfactory facilities to receive much short shrift on the QT in the meantime.
Bureaucratic financial efficiency and patronage nuances greatly resemble Churchill's
famous quote (about Russia), as riddles wrapped in mysteries inside enigmas.

Dig deeper with the City of Victoria, its a wasteland of socialist gubermint collective waste.
The CRD spent $850,000 on Alterra Corp, a gubermint created corp, responsible for design and build of the FAILED sewer project.
The head of Seaterra received $500,000 as a parting gift, for building nothing at all.................

Hooray, hooray, they mentioned Thunder Bay.

That biomass debacle has been a thorn in my side for ages. Forget that it used to produce power generated by low sulfur coal, or that it was due to be upgraded to burn natural gas, readily available from existing pipelines from out west, this was a political hog trough project from the get go.

By the way, Ontario has its own "poop palace". It's called Queen's Park in Toronto.

Look up Citizens Against Goverment Waste(CAGW)look up their Pig Book and find some real doozies of pork

back around 82, 83 I was working @ Brock University in St Catharines.

they finally got around to paving the student residence parking lot after about 20 years. the thing was roughly 200 feet square.

next year they ripped it up to build a science lab.
