  10. All of the GOP candidates are pikers compared to Ted Cruz’ campaigns technology. Just compare the apps on iTunes for each. The others are all off the shelf products with just the name/logo changed. Cruz’ is exceptionally well developed with all kinds of gamification, quizzes, and invites to conference calls. Very very impressive.

    Will be an interesting battle as the NDP goes against opinion polls and passes an energy bill and carbon tax that is already rejected by most voters in Alberta. You would think Alberta would learn something from Ontario. They think the carbon tax is bad (similar to a sales tax), wait until the LIEberals implement the Cap and Trade tax.
    I would insist that there be two wind towers on her front lawn, that they be in all NDP strong holds like Calgary, Edmonton etc. The wind towers are tall enough to place along river of cities, and in green spaces. Most important; in front of the Alberta Legislature. Somehow they have to get the farmers off the land so they can put them there … perhaps that was the reason for Bill 6 being past first.

  19. I’m a faithful reader of this blog and I mostly align politically with it, especially on the culture wars front. I’m always impressed with the musical gems you post up here. I’m also a musician but find I have to keep my politics quiet around my musician friends as they believe that to be in the musician’s clique, you have to subscribe to all the trendy leftoid politics. It’s nice to know that great taste in music doesn’t belong to any political stripe.

  20. You forget that Trump is all about The Deal. Everything is making a deal. And when you’re negotiating, you don’t start with want you want, you start with three times what you want; the other guy you offers way less than he’s willing to pay. Then after the back-and-forth negotiating, you end up with The Deal.
    Every “over the top” statement from Trump is just him making the opening bid in The Deal. Of course it’s out there, it’s way further than he is actually willing to go. And if he was President, he’d negotiate with both Dems and Repubs and what would eventually settled on would be The Deal, which would end up close to what he originally wanted.
    He has a hammer and everything is the nail.

  21. Islam as expressed in the Koran and Western Democracies have incompatible world views. Trump’s position seems extreme, but I think that is because we have been so conditioned by political correctness. (Diversity makes us stronger and all that pap.) Trump needs to further explain his view, but it is not unreasonable. Muslims are not interested in integrating and their stated goal is conquest. It is a dangerous situation.

  31. With yesterday being the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbour, one can’t help but imagine how things would have unfolded if the current administrations had been in Washington and Ottawa 74 years ago.
    Obama would have sent a stern rebuke to the Emperor warning that any future sneak attacks would be frowned upon. Kerry, in an act of good faith, would have advised the Japanese Navy as to the whereabouts of the American aircraft carriers on the condition that the Japanese would leave them alone.
    In Ottawa, Trudeau would have implored everyone to look for “root causes” for the invasion of Hong Kong and not to jump into a declaration of war since the Japanese running wild in the Pacific was the result of a small minority of radicals, hardly indicative of the majority of Japanese .
    In any event, we would now be speaking Japanese or perhaps German, depending on how the Axis Powers divided up the spoils.

He gets it because he’s seen it. A former Iranian infanteer during the war with Iraq who was later forced to flee for his life. He came to the US and pursued “his version of the American dream” to bring a very unique skill set to the fore in the battle against terrorism. But he speaks to more, as he attests to the surreal events, conditioned and trained to this type of scenario and wounds presented.
    When asked for his overall “take,” he stated the #1 priority was for the Americans to come together, to recognize the threat. He said immigrants must choose sides and that must be American liberty. He said you “cannot and sit down” with fanatics whose minds are made up. Really classy guy and well worth a watch:

    Given present levels of warming, that should take 150-200 years – of carbon taxation.
    So for now they’ll just need a “little bit more” of our tax dollars, especially from them – the rich whom they fail to collect it from so – who are actually, us. Oh goodie – crisis over. Remember indiscriminately wasting hard earned tax dollars is a “good thing” that leads to “investment” in Canada and higher productivity so “job creation” for Liberals.
    The rest, especially the poor, will have to deal with lowered disposable income and the budgets will have to “balance themselves.”
