Keeping with the theme of Trudeau's affirmative action cabinet:

I don't know why, but when I was watching the swearing in of Justin Trudeau, and the people in ecstasy over the new PM and his cabinet etc., it brought back memories of when were out harvesting at night in SW Saskatchewan, in the heart of the Land of the Living Skies. And please, don't get me wrong, I was kid once too, and I did get excited over the prospect of a new government in Ottawa. And kids should have dreams and aspirations, just as long as they don't fall to hard when coming back down to earth.

If you were raised on a grain farm on the prairies, you all know the wonderful feeling of laying in the warm wheat, on your back, at night, in the box of the old Ford, GMC or IHC, and gazing straight up at the stars. The fun part was trying to imagine just what it is that was out there. I was the truck driver, along with my younger brother, who always had problems keeping a civil tongue, God keep his soul. I exclaimed, ''My god, look how nice it is to see all those stars sparkling at the same time.'' He didn't say a word. Then suddenly he said, ''That's all very nice, but what the f*&% keeps them all together.'' He was about 12, and 40 years later, I remember thinking about that during his funeral service.

It's all very nice to dream about the new government. But who the f&?% kept it all together when things were getting tough? And why had Canada called on Stephen Harper to start with?? Lets not lose sight of reality!

A song in memory of my bro:

Kim Justin-il the Shiny Pony, Son of Fuddle-Duddle, makes his first public announcements as PM:

Not every professor is a left wing socialist nut. Sometimes it just seems that way.

I'm sure everyone is pleased we now have a federal cabinet that "looks like Canada" according to Trudeau.
Did anyone notice the Conservative members Cabinet didn't look like Canada?

Hope everyone is well stocked with gravol for the pukefest that is likely to continue as the media follow the Dauphin and his family to keep us informed, you know, the important stuff, Sophie's fashions, the great family man and his cute kids, etc, etc.

"The narcissistic leader invariably proffers an aesthetic of decadence and evil carefully orchestrated and artificial – though it is not perceived this way by him or by his followers. Narcissistic leadership is about reproduced copies, not about originals. It is about the manipulation of symbols – not about veritable atavism or true conservatism."

Did anyone spot Premier Kathleen Wynne at the crowning of King Justin?

Interesting to watch Justin Trudeau in the CBC "Behind-the-scenes of Justin Trudeau's first day as Prime Minister"
Watch (beginning at 3:20 mark) Justin Trudeau's eyes frequently dart back to Gerald Butts, seemingly seeking approval from him. Who holds the real power in the PM's office?
Also during swearing-in ceremony, Trudeau swearing allegiance to Queen Elizabeth and "her hairs" (beginning at about 18:26 mark), with Peter Mansbridge saying the ceremony proceeded according to script, with no slip-ups.

If you like liberal echo chambers try they just banned me for telling the truth.

Thanks for that Peter. The Mike Adams column is a great read. Too bad that there are not more like him.

I forgot this telling slip-up from CBC reporter Hannah Thibedeau. Talking with Carole McNeil about her reaction to the swearing-in events, Thibedeau said she had never seen anything like it in all her years of "political" career. Not her "reporter's" career, her "journalist's" career, but her "political" career. An admission of her mission?

Aux armes les conservateurs! We must hit the ground running. The narrative being formed now is that we have emerged from the dark tunnel of ten years of conservative rule to the broad, sunlight uplands (sorry, Winston) of Liberal government. Once this history gets firmly implanted in people's minds, we will have an even more difficult time of getting back in power.
We must pick a good and preferably attractive spokesperson for the conservatives today. We must be positive but firm. And we must state that since the Liberals have had a honeymoon with the media for years, they don't deserve a honeymoon now.

Good catch Gabby. Perhaps an inadvertent "admission of her mission" due to all the glorious excitement of playing such a big part in getting their choice elected.

Justin did slip up with "... Queen Elizabeth's hairs" but that's no problem. Maybe he had hair on his mind after all the Conservative ads. Wonder if it will be taken out of all the transcripts. Even if it was a typo he should have spotted it if he read it over. Surely he has a good command of English and French.

"Canada's Free Trade Agreements"

"Since 2006, Canada has concluded free trade agreements with no less than 39 countries, bringing the total to 44, making up more than half of the global economy and representing nearly one quarter of the world’s countries."

"Canada - Korea - Brought into force: January 1, 2015

Canada - Peru - Brought into force: August 1, 2009
Canada - European Free Trade Association - Brought into force: July 1, 2009"

During the oath taking the interpretor who was French kept saying the Privy Council with a long i. Small things sometimes show when a language is not your native tongue.I remember Trudeau used to use dated English slang and talked about guys all the time the way Obama says folks too often. Justin's English is actually better than his French which came across in the debates as too school French unlike Duceppe's.

This IS a surprise! Someone on the left actually thought it through.

"The deeper philosophy behind the anti-free speech movement is that its adherents “think ordinary people are volatile, stupid, and gullible,” O’Neill said."

How true. Yesterday I learned that Bill Gates certainly believes this.

"The assumption is that if ordinary people “hear a racist idea they will go out and beat up a black person, if they hear an Islamophobic idea they will go out and burn up a mosque, if they see a porno film, they will rape a woman,” O’Neill said.

This view sees people as “animals who just imbibe all these messages and act on them, and that is a deeply, deeply insulting idea.”"

They are all "managed" trade deals, not free-trade deals. The bureaucracy increased when NAFTA cam into effect.

All of sudden the Media Party is singing the praises of Taliban Killers:

I wonder if this guy has two or three, including Punjabi, citizenships. Judging by this glowing report he knows how to fight the Mooslimbs. I wonder if he come under attack by the ME funding arm of Justin's Admirable Dictatorship?

"Even if it was a typo ..."
No, Liz J, IMO it couldn't have been a typo. More likely, he just doesn't know how to pronounce the word "heirs" [sounds like air] properly, although maybe some people pronounce it with an aspirated "h" like they do for the word "herb" -- pronounced by some as "urb" and by others as "hurb". With so many foreign influences and regional differences the English language is subject to, it would not be surprising. It was still funny, though, and inevitably glossed over by the adoring media.

"The Pause lengthens again – just in time for Paris"

"No global warming at all for 18 years 9 months – a new record"

"One-third of Man’s entire influence on climate since the Industrial Revolution has occurred since February 1997. Yet the 225 months since then show no global warming at all (Fig. 1). With this month’s RSS temperature record, the Pause beats last month’s record and now stands at 18 years 9 months."

Hang on. It is going to be a bumpy ride.

Trudeau's first act as PM is to threaten, with jail time, any citizen who refuses to answer the government's questions.

Mental illness... again
An engineering student who went off on a stabbing spree Wednesday, wounding four people on the campus of U.C.-Merced before being shot and killed by police, has been identified as Faisal Mohammad.

The authorities also moved quickly to scrub Mohammad’s social media sites before they released his name.
