Headline: Cairo University bans teachers from wearing niqabs:

CAIRO -- The recent decision to ban female staff from wearing the full face veil aims to put an end to student complaints of "poor communication" in class, the head of Egypt's Cairo University said Friday.
Although the head-to-toe covering known locally as the niqab is "not a phenomenon" among his teachers, Gaber Nassar told The Associated Press that he wants to "cure the disease" before it becomes one.
Islamic clerics and students have denounced the move as discriminatory, but Nassar said he has the backing of the Grand Mufti, Egypt's top religious authority.

Grand Mufti Trudeau has yet to issue an official statement.

Given the source of this decision, I'm guessing he (the mufti in Cairo) is a little closer to the action than either Mulcair or Trudeau. I'm inclined to take his word for it.

Just wait until Trudeau has a talk with the Cairo University president.

That is a big deal. Egypt matters in the Muslim world. Cairo University matters in the Muslim world. That Egypt overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood government was also a big deal.

The real cure for jihidiocy is for the smarter Muslims to rise up and throw them off.

This is good news. Cool.

If a woman has a right to be in public with full veil, then unveiled members of the public should have the equal right to refuse to interact with her. Otherwise, abuse can be claimed by the veiled one, and there's no defense. Think Australia, where a niquabi tried to claim a police officer assaulted her when he tried to remove the niquab to prove her identity. She didn't win that one, but has avoided numerous traffic charges as she can't be identified.

University of Cairo, class of 1959, and the class of 2004 (spot the difference!)

Must ask mayor nenshi' if he feels female circumcision has the same minority of interest

Nenshi's comments were very opportunistic. Instead of looking for common ground, he turns the whole thing into an anti-Conservative, we vs. them. Conservatives are accused of doing this all the time, but only because of the left's insistence on li
ving in a fantasy world. As a political leader, Nenshi had an opportunity to bridge the gap on understanding on this issue. He failed to do so.

Lindal, I. Would agree with you to a point, but I believe Nenshi chose to attack the Conservatives rather than bridge the gap. He's a typical left-wing elitist know-it-all. Can't stand the pompous SOB.

"If a woman has a right to be in public with full veil, then unveiled members of the public should have the equal right to refuse to interact with her."

Of course a woman has a right to be in public with a full veil.

And you have the equal right not to interact with her if you so choose.

But that was never the argument. The argument is over whether she has the right to conceal herself in situations that specifically require her face to be shown by Canadian customs and law.

In my view, she does not have that right.

Otherwise, we should all start wearing balaclavas to the bank and government offices on principle.

'we should all start wearing balaclavas'
We in the west would likely opt for the full faced bandana.

The full face-covering body bag is not a religious handicap as much as it is flying the flag of political Islam saying F.U. to western civilization, "we're here to change your country into another Islamic basket-case". Nenshi is another cowed progressive (running interference for the Jihad) masquerading as a secular Muslim.

Exactly and if Sharia is ever adopted in Calgary Alberta what will the future hold for an openly 'gay Muslim'?

You miss the point. They have no interest or intent in interacting with you, anyway. Their only interest is intimidating you into submission.

I think his comments were in perfect keeping with his mindset.

Just as his NON comments were when an Israeli Family were set upon and beaten by Hamas supporters in the Summer of 2014 right in downtown Calgary. He did not come out and Condem the altercation in any way shape or form...something i would expect and rightfully DEMAND a Mayor of a Major Canadian City to do.

Wouldn't you.??

This guy is nothing but an enabler for or full fledged member of the the MUSLIM Brotherhood.
A Stealth Jihadi Mole if you will...
