Bombardier...

Via email; You need to update your story again. Quebec is no longer asking the new Liberal govt for a $350M loan. They're asking Ottawa to match their $1.3B ($1B US) equity investment.

From the comments;

Does that mean that Shell can get $1 billion so it doesn't cancel that heavy oil project in Alberta?

Sorry, the page you were looking for is not available.

link is borked...but then so is the government.

Let looting of the taxpayer BEGIN!

I just can't wait for the 'brown envelope brigade' to show up in swarms, like Saskatchewan mosquitoes.

Is anyone investigating to find out who is the person of interest at Bombardier that is 'connected' with the Quebec and Trudeau clan?

Does that mean that Shell can get $1 billion so it doesn't cancel that heavy oil project in Alberta?

"Does that mean that Shell can get $1 billion so it doesn't cancel that heavy oil project in Alberta?"

Are you anal? Shell does not speak the pur laine language, so does not qualify. And they have all ready pulled out.

Again.....the only good thing out of Eastern Canada is an empty bus.

That line on the left is well ovee the horizon.

Anyone care to provide odds on which perpetual grievance interest group will be the first to move the goalposts when PM Leisuresuit doesn't meet their expectation$?

I'm thinking its gonna be a draw between the FN and one of the have not provinces. ...tho I'm hard pressed to nail down which province that would be as the have nots seem to be growing at an alarming rate..which is just coincidental that those have nots seem to have been run on a socialist agenda for the last decade
And if anyone decides to call Redford or Prentice conservative just so you know, I was born at night but it wasn't last night.

The inevitable must be prevented at all costs.

Just the tip of the iceberg, for sure.
The party of Entitlements has the keys to the treasury once again.
The Liberal Part of Canada raised the least amount of money this election, but they do not need to, they take their operating funds straight from the treasury, and the campaign is financed the media, unions, provincial liberals and Strange NGO's.
All of whom must be rewarded.
As seen in Ontario, the brazen repayments to their helpers will continue until they are kicked out again.
How ever watch the games begin, gerrymandering is a Liberal specialty.
Corruption is like pregnancy.
You cannot be a little corrupt nor a little pregnant.

If civil society is to reclaim our country from the Kleptocracy, we need a new game.
Taxation at a low flat rate, paid locally.
Same rate is paid by the local govt to the provincial, same provincial to fed.
The beast must be starved, because currently all political creatures consider your property as theirs to take.
Theft is government.

Government is theft , yet those within government all seek to expand their reach and authority.
There will be no constitutional reclamation of our basic civil rights, those of self defence, private property and individual freedom.
Not under the Liberals and not under Progressive Conservatives.
Government will only shrink under force.
Forced by lack of money, for example as the ratio of productive persons to parasite continues to fall.
Or by force of politics.
The Federal Conservatives are basically unchanged by this election defeat, but where were they taking us?
I noticed almost all the Reform people had dropped out, we were giving Harper and Company as much time as they felt they needed.
Now we get to pay for that neglect.

Lesson to Alberta. This is how to diversify your economy.

Whatever Bombardier wants,Bombardier gets( to that old 50's tune). This company has been getting loans guaranteed and massive bailouts from our Federal government since as long as I can remember. I wonder if even their blessed "Ski-Doo" was subsidized.

Bombardier would be an excellent subject for a book by an enterprising investigative Reporter/author who wants to find out just how corrupt the relationship between the Quebec business establishment and the LPC really is.

Of course THAT would mean kissing "goodbye" to any hope of a Senate seat.

Quebec always has been a northern banana republic, the showcase pretend trial of the Montreal construction industry showed that fact quite clearly, and their main goal is to continue to bleed the productive citizens of the "Far West" dry to pay for their cooked existence.

1.3 billion? No problem! Bombardier can ask for ten times that amount and they'll get it. Maybe PM Trudeau can implement a new carbon tax on Western Canada to help pay for it.

After all, in this great multicultural paradise, it's "one for all and all for one", isn't it, especially if the latter "one" is Quebec?

Yup just a small deficit for infrastructure investments. People have no idea what they've done yet. They've been formulating these boondoggles for years.

This was all too predictable. The west has dropped its drawers and is bent over. The left was smarter at winning and turning young minds agains reality. We are all going pay for not paying attention over the past forty years while this hijacking was taking place.

Conservatives ignore government activities and the activities of far left groups at out peril and it is now too late. The voting block is LEFT.

Bummer the few decades we had of freedom and prosperity were lovely, I am missing them already.

However the last couple of generations of little self absorbed shits will inherit this mess and perhaps they deserve it.

The Federal Government should demand class "A" voting shares in return for any investment. That would prevent any further requests for funding.

Nope, that wouldn't work - class "A" shares are traceable and a PITA to use to pay for vacations, vehicles and villas.

Whenever I travel, my heart sinks when I see that my flight is on a Bombardier product. Always grubby and cheap looking planes, even when new. Bleargh.

"Is anyone investigating to find out who is the person of interest at Bombardier that is 'connected' with the Quebec and Trudeau clan?"

Hmmmm, is what's that noise coming form SNC-Lavalin head office?

A billion here, a billion there and pretty soon we're talking real money. Thankfully the budget will balance itself so no worriers.

BOHICA!

Ok so this is a touchy subject for me because I am currently working at a bombardier service station in Tucson az.

I have heard that the new "C" series commercial liner will and currently is way WAY out performing its expected standards by fuel consumption and sound weight Ect Ect . This aircraft is a very and will be a very very huge positive for Canadians once it's finished its beta testing in the next 24 months.

Having said that I think it is disgusting that a company so large and so "successful" would or should need any gov money at all.

The CRJ,THE DASH8 q-400 , the global all have been resounding successes in sales by all measures . But I find it truly disturbing that the stock price is 1.60 and they have 0 orders on the books for this new amazing aircraft. The perfformance numbers of this new c series aircraft will bury the 737 platform. But the aircraft is mostly composite so we will see how it is to maintaine and keep in the air.

Fav Union acronym

DILLIGAF

Free headbands for all

This is called payback. First the unions then the crony capitalists in the back pocket of the Liberals.

Yep, it wasn't so long ago that Paul Martin was kissing camels for SNC-Lavalin in front of Ghaddafi.

And just in case all you plebians are wonderin', you ain't part of the elite payola club!

The 'Laurentian elite trough masters' will be shoveling the money deep and wide...

Cheers

My understanding is as your's Paul. It apparently is a good aircraft, but poor management is screwing things up and Bombardier is ignoring it's smaller aircraft market, which is successful.

They are making a Hail-Mary pass into the big league craft.

No, Ken, the wrong way around: the Liberals are in the pockets of the unions and crony capitalists.

"...poor management is screwing things up..."

Poor management at Bombardier?

Gosh, that's hard to believe.

what a craptacular company. Pretty much penny stock status.

But, Turdoo le Doo, will almost certainly GIVE lucrative contracts to them, as he solves all mass transit and congestion issues across Canada. Why?

Cuz he said so.

But, with the incestuous nature of Bay St and the Fibs, even Bay ST is sining sweet nothings about Boy Blunder, so, watch crony companies get sold on "more and more" gubmint contracts, based strictly on the crony relationship.

It could become a $5 stock easy with Trudope help, perhaps more. For players, an easy win on stock manipulation. For taxpayers, its pouring money down a rathole.

Let's pretend you're an airline CEO and your choice is the proven 737 or the A320 or some new c series aircraft from a bankrupt Canadian company. You already have airbuses and boeings in the fleet, have the supply chain and the tools / maintenance contracts setup for those. On top of that Boeing and Airbus are cutting prices. Yeah hard to chose.

Poor old Shell has several strikes against it:

1. It's not a Canadian company (or a "national icon").

2. Expanding on Number One: it's not a Qu├ębec company (hey, the Liberals are at the helm now).

3. It's involved in all that nasty tar, er, oil extraction.*

4. It's way out there in Toryland. Sorry, the largesse is all for Libland now.

* Heh. No small irony that this latest with Bombardier would be over passenger aircraft - air travel for the hoi polloi being a big nasty for the true climate-change fanatics of course.

Any chance our new, ecologically pristine government will actually say: "Non!"?

paul in calgary (arizona)

There is a small problem with the propoganda that the C series is so wonderful, if that were the case then knowledgable investors would be buying large chunks of shares at their current valuation. They are not, so that tells us all we need to know.

Only government would be dumb enough to throw money at this perpetual loser-so I fully expect that is what the libranos will do.

A second thought:

Apparently the books did not balance themselves-how could that be? Turdeau promised us they would if he got elected.

Feel cheated much?

A no surprise CBC story today about Arts groups in Canada over-joyed at their future prospects of free money to promote baloney culture. NFB CBC you name it waiting for the enrichment. Nice closeups of Corpse's corpse Hubert smiling ear cavity to ear cavity. Paaa-uke.

I guess it is silly to point out that planes burn huge amounts of jet fuel and this isn't taking the economy in the green direction that Mad Tom and Turdo are hoping for. I can just see a carbon tax in the West to pay for more carbon emitting airplanes in the East.

Oh, boy.

Here we go again.

I can't believe it's been 10 years since we've heard any whining from Quebec.

And they're not even sworn in yet.

The beast is the public sector unions, connected with socialist international, how do you think they can get a legally binding climate farce treaty together at the UN, because they are part of it. They collaborate. Why has Harper been criticized for "silencing" scientists, it's because of Harper their agenda get's curtailed. Under Trudeau full steam ahead on selling our sovereignty down the sewer of unaccountable UN global governance.
I was at least hoping for a Harper minority, he could then stall until the Paris COP21, but no, Junior wants to bring all the Premiers and May, for advice . What a loser for the country, freedom and democracy.
The usual suspects always claimed Harper"s majority was not legitimate because 60% of the country did not support him, now you see, how dare you defy a duly elected majority Liberal government who has less of the popular support than Harper had. I should have screen printed that, it will disappear I'm sure.

MSM losers.

The hypocritical Liberals and their charlatans in the media know no bounds. Thank God MSM media is going the way of the DODO. The MSM are easily bypassed with a internet only event that can be promoted very easily.

Thanks.. All Hail our Kleptocracy.
Government by fools and bandits for bandits.
Your property is our property, your talent is ours to exploit.
Slavery is a thing of beauty for the slavers.
Funny how the slaves never think so..excepting Ontario and points east of course.

keef, read James reply to paul, the dog beater, above your nonsense

Perhaps a more realistic plan for all concerned would be for the feds
to offer the more adept rent seekers a $200 mil signing off bonus and
an extra $100 mil to help ship everything to China.
That way everybody could say it was a nice try and we are all winners.

I don't know about the rest of you, however as soon as anybody east of Manitoba gets elected, I just stock up on beer and a few more boxes of shells. Easy and simple.

For a mere 10 million dollars I will stay here in Canada or go bankrupt.

Hey, I seems to work for bombardier.

Mr Meme should read his own posts:

"Contacted by The Tyee, researchers from the IMF helpfully provided a detailed breakdown of Canadian subsidies provided to petroleum, natural gas and coal consumption. The lion's share of the $34 billion are uncollected taxes on the externalized costs of burning transportation fuels like gasoline and diesel -- about $19.4 billion in 2011. These externalized costs include impacts like traffic accidents, carbon emissions, air pollution and road congestion." Most of the other "externalized costs" are deferred taxes, btw; another sin of omission from the meme addled fools.

Traffic accidents. IOW contrived/faked costs, for taxes that haven't been levied, or charged, and thus collected. That argument is so old it's growing hair. Aren't these "externalized costs" car drivers and bus riders should be paying eh? Too bad for the statists they're much harder to demonize with fake arguments.

"Externalized costs" is economic theory taught to intro students, with the most used example being targeting cigarette companies, whom incompetent government can sue later when their actual levied "externalized costs" are not put into health care, or smoking cessation or anything else related to the "externalized costs" of smokers to society. That's real money really getting wasted.

Meanwhile Bombardier collects real tax dollars as subsidies, the kind that have truly been collected from hardworking Canadians, not the ones some watermelons think should be collected from O&G companies, while ignoring the massive real subsidies "alternative energy," aka useless energy that go to wind turbines and other climate rent seekers.

God you're an idiot Meme. Anyway, back to reality: Governments are bad at picking winners, but losers (like Bombardier and Mr Meme) are very good at picking government.

Bombardier, at the tax payers trough so soon? Have they paid back the last loans they got? Last I heard they hadn't. They've got a 'slush fund' a couple of billion. They should be force to use it ALL before taxpayers are forced to fund their continued bad business practices.

Problem is they still run it like it was a Liberal endorsed Crown Corp. Their service rep in international circles is lousy - in many areas. Too many Chefs not enough cooks in that place.

Mr Mem
Leave it to the Tyee and the IMF to make crap up. Really...

This is the kind of thing that happens when your fellow Canadians choose cannabis over country.

"Contacted by The Tyee..."

As soon as encountered the words "The Tyee", I knew it was a waste of time reading further.

It's just one of those mental alerts like the name "Naomi Klein" on a book.

Ahhhhhhh....Tyee...old Indian word meaning effed up beyond all reason. But they will save the trees! I think. When they stop stealing tax payer money.

Well James let's see so far GE has given sole sales of their most efficient and quietest engines they have ever produced to the c series , and that is only to the c series no one else can buy them it was a condition of bombardier putting this prototype engine in their aircraft .

Off the hop there is a 30% yes 30% fuel savings over every single a319-a320 and 737 in production right now 30% is huge , they are also the quietest engines on the market right now beating by far the standards set by TC . So yeah for me the choice would be easy not to mention these aircraft are supposedly 6 years maintenance free out of the box no major checks for 6 years that is insane . (I will find out because I fix aircraft ) .

What's more amazing is put all the liberal crony capitalist Union payback crap aside and we in Canada make some pretty good stuff high quality , and I will gladly put a global express and crj 900 against anything Cessna makes of similar size and passenger capacity . The de havilland line up of aircraft are extremely tough and well built I know because I have built them from the ground up I worked in Calgary at the Viking plant building the 400 series twin otter (a legendary aircraft) to the dash 8 in Montreal . I fix em I build em , I fly on em. If they are such garbage why does the ceo and his lawyers and his right hand man of sun core fly them? Why does horizon fly the crj and dash 8 almost exclusively as their commenter aircraft ? Because they are tough , durable , relatively low maintenance, and profitable aircraft to run.

Why is it in this country we love to crap all over success we hate success we despise it . How many times have you heard how horrible nickel back is? How many times have you heard Boeing and Airbus shit talk bombardier? They are doing it because they don't want any new players especially ones that can out compete them . If this aircraft gets picked up by a carrier look out the stock will quadruple . It is still in beta testing right now that's why the price is low like I said above .

I again think this whole liberal Union crony capitalist garbage is soo sad because we in Canada can produce some amazing things and we are right now , yet people in here can't seem to separate the liberals and their corruption from the engineers in the war rooms at bombardier that are developing a great aircraft , it may be a government pet project (which I despise) and it may be funded by greedy unionists and liberal brown envelope brigades but the fact still remains that smart people are not a part of that garbage they are just doing their job to be the best they can be at what ever it is that they do.

So I support the company that way but no tax dollars ever should go to a private business. Ever . And if that means bombardier folded tomorrow oh well to bad so sad. But for right now this aircraft is incredible by all measures . Like its predessesors. Remeber what Boeing did to de havilland right ? We made a better stronger aircraft then them , they bought de havilland and torched all the blue prints and cut up every single jig de havilland ever made and kept producing their stuff . Boeing is not your friend and you are a compete and total F$&k wad if you think Boeing , Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Cessna, or any of the others have not received a Pennie of public money only bombardier has that's simply rediculous. We make excellent products in this country it's just to bad politics and corruption get in the way....

Um A-12, put that in your pipe and smoke it. I agree that DE Havilland built good planes but so has Lockheed, Boing and Airbus. As to Boeing shuttering De Havilland, smart business move. This sort of thing happens all the time in many industries
