Reader Tips

Tonight tips music, floating across the transatlantic ether like a sacrament from a cradle in northwestern Europe, has the Choir of the Diocese of Skara in Sweden performing a psalmic work written by the cathedral’s long-time, now former, organist Karl-Gustaf Gunneflo, called Huru ljuvliga äro icke dina boningar (“How lovely is your dwelling place”).
May it never be elegiac.

  1. In all his time as a drama teacher he’s never seen such poor government that “appeals to our worst instincts.”
“For 10 years, Stephen Harper has never missed an opportunity to divide Canadians. East against west, urban against rural, French against English, so-called old stock Canadians versus newcomers. His first instinct is to appeal to the worst instincts.”
The ethnically diverse crowd cheered loudly, applauded and chanted, “Trudeau, Trudeau,” as the Liberal leader painted himself as someone who seeks to unite Canadians.”
The worst instincts? Whose worse instincts? Which worst instincts? Would that be, for instance, that governments don’t create jobs. Oooh, that’s a bad one, that makes the statists cringe. Or that people should have to sometimes show their faces in public, as in Pakistan and SA; does that mean fully 3/4 of Canadians are acting on their “worst instincts;” which are again?
What an arrogant remark from a political nymph who seems to have contempt for large portions of the Canadian population. Pitting the large cities against the rest of Canada, is that a “worst instinct,” Mr Trudeau, or is that just driving in political wedges? No, oh progressives only have good intentions therefore only good instincts. Would a good example be Venezuela? Or Cuba? China? C’mon, throw me a bone.
By all means, provide us with some examples, not beliefs, of those “worst instincts,” that Harper “appeals to?” So, Stephen Harper, never missed an opportunity to divide Canadians? Would some examples be abortion, income disparity & Senate ethics, as in your case? Surely you can give us some examples of Harper’s transgressions? Go ahead – we’re waiting.
Stephen Harper thanks you and would like to mention you can’t interrupt him anymore in debates so don’t think you’re in the clear with your hand waving pontifications, ordering Canadians to agree with your poverty inducing ideas. On that basis, could we now discuss your contempt of Canada and nasty disdain for anyone who doesn’t hold to your as yet undescribed though undoubtedly wise ways, given all your experience as a drama teacher and wilderness buff.
If Harper doesn’t now drop the hammer on this pretender, right now, he’s making a serious error imho. Ridicule him, insult him, demean him. Always contrast your criticism of his policies with your policies, but stronger than the latest commercials. Yes, be good natured about it; lose the serious face and economic doom. The voters won’t believe you. Don’t tell them, as the progressives do; show them.
When the mediocracy cries a river over your “bullying,” (they really hate people who do that) simply direct them to Trudeau’s insensitive, intolerant and ignorant remarks for reference of treatment in kind. If they don’t like it, screw them then, they can find their election stories elsewhere. Only political simpletons rely on their “analysis” anyway. They are given way too much influence owing to their unprofessionalism and economic illiteracy, of course with some exceptions.
Show me yours and I’ll show you mine.

  2. Any body seen anything on the C-130 Herc that went down in Afghanstan in the last three hours?? USAF?

  3. ooo, ouch, ouch… I’ll need the eye-bleach for that one (“show me yours…”)
We already know that Justin likes command economies, thinks that budgets balance themselves, and doesn’t believe in “innocent until proven guilty” (two Liberal MPs accused of saying mean things to women). But really, I don’t want Justin to expose himself to the public at large. Let’s leave something to the imagination.
After all, he’ll only say “It’s cold in here”.

  4. “Stephen Harper has never missed an opportunity to divide Canadians.” But, hey, you have to admit he did not wade into the abortion issues as that is considered too divisive. Justin is such a hypocrite, but all of those thoughtless minions attending his rallies seem to totally lack critical thinking skills.

  5. G&M: “Harper says Canada at risk of fiscal ruin if opponents win.” That might sound a bit extreme, or even desperate.
Oh, there’s just one thing – he didn’t say that. The slimedia just said he did, it’s their “interpretation:”
“Harper threatened fiscal ruin for Canada should either of his opponents be given that power, a possibility that can’t be ignored he told supporters at an afternoon rally in the town of Bay Roberts, NL.”
(the actual quote) ‘Imagine waking up on Oct. 20, polls tell us this is very possible, and find an NDP government or a Liberal government making decisions on borrowing money or on your taxes,’ he told a crowd of about 100 supporters.”
‘Think about that for a moment and tell me friends that we will work every single day to make sure that those who want reckless spending, deficits and tax hikes do not get their hands on managing our economy for next next four year(s).’ ”
Besides being biased and dishonest reporting, that’s really slimy. IOW SOP for the mediocracy. OTOH, I really like what he said, and so will many Canadians including this remark:
“We will not give up on the future of his country.” Yeah, put that one on a banner and run with it.

  6. Liberals are the masters of the politics of division, and Pm Harper should call them on it. I remember Ignatieff coming to Eastern Ontario and calling for mandatory bilingual signs for businesses here which would mean all the pettiness and intolerance of a local Office de la Language Francaise.
Liberals are always pitting the East against the West and the rich against the average citizen.

  7. Liberals are masters at division. Marc lalond admitted the nep was to break Alberta and suppress the west

  8. Bravo! PM Stephen Harper.
    …-
“TPP trade deal reached in Atlanta”
“ATLANTA — Twelve nations, including Canada, have reached a tentative deal on the so-called Trans-Pacific Partnership — a massive Pacific Rim trading bloc billed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper as the largest-ever deal of its kind.”
“The proposed agreement reduces or eliminates barriers in a wide range of sectors and could lead to more Canadian exports of pork, beef, canola, high-tech machinery and a variety of other products.”
