“To allow a public official to insert their personal beliefs into decisions about who should and who should not receive a public service would undermine the protection of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code,” said Human Rights Commission manager Rebecca McLellan.
“They don’t want to be subjected to the public scrutiny by delivering a flyer that obviously is a political flyer made to shock people,” she added. “A lot of them feel as though Canada Post should not be engaging in this type of delivery.”

In some perverse way I look forward to the day that Sharia Law rules in Canada.
Um, you are not supposed to be reading my mail, so just bugger off and do your job!
The day that mail carriers are gone cant come to soon.
Two things:
1) I’m sure they have no problem delivering pr0n.
2) They ought to be reminded that the flyers they find so offensive are meant to help bring an end to the practices they’re complaining about.
Bilbo
Take a page from Ronald Reagan “decertify the UNION and fire all the employees”.. Hire intelligent folks that want to learn a craft & actually work.
Public service falls under the Management of elected Government. Public service UNIONS are an oxymoron, besides the unnecessary angst used by the politically challenged.
Next they won’t deliver birth control or prescription drugs. WTF
Another 2 things:
1) “Obviously made to shock people.” Why haven’t the cigarette companies tried this defense to protect their packaging from gov’t mandated tumorporn?
2) What about those who want to force doctors to do abortions? “A lot of them feel as though [they] should not be engaging in this type of delivery.”
Only thing better than disability (for some people) is a job at the Post Office.
You would think they wouldn’t risk their iron rice bowl.
Letter carriers make over $20/hr,plus benefits. Today that’s a decent wage for a job that takes lots of stamina but little skill or training.
Deliver the damned mail, don’t look at it,don’t try to be a censor.Today,anti-abortion flyers, tomorrow what type of mail will “offend” someone and they’ll refuse to deliver that?!
Booze ads, Victoria’s secret, feminine hygiene products, Cabela’s flyers?
I repeat, do your job or quit, and if you refuse to do your job, you should be fired. Enough of this activist BS.
Your mail is only delivered if you have the ‘right kind of politics’; namely unbridled leftism.
Cheers

Unless Don Morris convinces me otherwise, this is political campaigning by the letter carriers.
in my books a pro-abortionist has no more rights than a fetus in an abortion clinic.
After nearly doubling the price of a stamp just to stay alive, you would think that Canada Post would fire these turds in a heartbeat.
The public sector union types are delusional – pardon the play on words, but, they are ‘takers’ and they just don’t ‘get it’.
The anti-abortion pamphlets that were delivered are likely the same ones delivered by the group numerous times before.
They are graphic. I talked to my boss about them. Not because they were graphic, or because of my personal view, but because the CCBR left them out where they could be picked up by children.
Putting them inside an envelope is the way to do it.
The posties that refuse to deliver them are fools, and it IS a political statement.
You take the man’s money, you do the man’s work.
They would have no problem whatsoever delivering pamphlets showing Stephen Harper beheading new born babies with a dull axe and smiling a demented smile. The CBC would be all over that in a flash in support of Turdeau and wacky Tom.
So now the posties have final say on what political advertising they will deliver?
I for one welcome our new postal worker censorship overlords…
Today they won’t deliver anything to do with abortion, tomorrow they will refuse to deliver any political advertising that shows unions in a negative light, and the day after they will only deliver NDP political advertising and refuse to deliver any other type of political advertising.
Looks like we will be handing all the censorship powers over to the posties.
The correct answer of course is if the posties don’t want to deliver all the mail they can find another job.
Where’s Ronnie Reagan when you need him?
$1.05 for a regular letter.
Whats next, they won’t feel comfortable delivering mail to known conservatives, angry taxpayers or other such hostile types?
Did you ever see a group of dummies so committed to employment suicide?
I’ll remember this whenever some other political rubbish is put in with my junk mail.
Canada Post’s job (ostensibly) is to deliver the mail, not be the boss of it.
Quite frankly, I don’t think these controversial letters go far enough. If Trudeau admires China so much, show what the Chinese communists do to their own people and to the North Koreans.
Back in the 90’s in a fit of desperation I applied to Canada Post for a job. I knew the job would suck, the work environment was toxic, but it would have been a full time job. After filling out the application the worker behind the desk took one look at it and told me that I wouldn’t even be called for a follow up. The reason? I was former military (reservist, but still military). It was the position of Canada Post at that time to NOT hire anyone of military background. Gone are the days when veterans and former serving members were given first shot at those jobs.
Oh, and the reason why I was told this and know about the toxic environment? My father was a Senior Letter Carrier and president of his union local.
How could they know, unless they read our mail? Most mail is now delivered to a tin box on a post, down at the corner.
You nailed it. There is no hypocrite like a leftist hypocrite.

Brian Lilley covered this story last night:

Seems as if the superboxes at the end of the block will do a better job than a letter carrier. It holds mail, is out there everyday(and in every type of weather) and is non-partisan/bias.

I am having the same problem. I type the text, hit submit and nothing seems to happen as the “icon” just spins and spin, sometimes even times out. I take a look at the thread and somehow the comment went through even though the icon is still spinning.
It seems that a few people are having this problem as there are a number of double and triple posts lately.
Seems to me that Canada Post told them “you MUST Deliver” these posters…and rightfully so.! Who the F does CUPW think they are..? My mail is my G’damned business, sure as hell not yours.
I am with the Reagan folks…fire the lot of them.. hire new ones – NON UNION.
And as for that anti-Semetic Marxist POS SYD RYAN…please let a bus runneth him over.
It is high time we Taxpayers have a discussion on the merits of Public Service Unions….Oh, wow, that was quick. OK – All agreed.
Disband Public Service Unions in all jurisdictions.
That would work for me..!!
I don’t like getting commie propaganda like Taliban Jack used to send out by the truckload via his HOC “free constituant mailing” privilages. Each one had “unsolicited commie propaganda. Return to sender” scrawled on it and was dumped in the nearest mailbox. I’m curious if my returned mail got back to Taliban Jack?
That’s what one does with unwanted mail although it didn’t seem to slow down the Ottawa commies any.
The posties who refused to deliver mail should have been fired on the spot. What’s needed is someone to defund the post office and go to private companies delivering mail. Courier companies are fast and deliver to my home. I’ll simply refuse to use a “community mailbox” and when that time comes, I’ll fill it full of crack sealant foam so nothing can be placed within my box.
I use a company which gets all my mail and they call me when I need to go pick it up. Works fine for expensive courier shipments I don’t want left on my doorstep or if duty is owing.
