  1. Tanks are like Battleships in WW2. Impressive looking and still useful for some purposes but too vulnerable and no longer of importance in a real war.

  2. What’s the first thing Canada invested in, right after buying vehicles with a skin heavier than Campbell’s soup?? That would be tanks. Maybe you don’t lead with tanks but infantry really likes direct fire artillery supporting them when they run into enemy tanks.

  3. That’s one of the dumber things I’ve heard in a while.
Tanks are still very useful in a real war, it’s just that the west no longer knows how to fight a real war.
Real wars are about occupying terrain, not attempting to deny it to others, or just killing enemy soldiers.

  4. Last comment. That would be the first thing bought AFTER we were in Afghanistan.

  5. Can we build gallows and gullotines on the National Mall in DC to publicly execute all the liberals now?

  6. @Doug, just give it another decade and either ISIS or Putin will do the job for you.

  7. Those are only defensive weapons due to the fascist running dogs of capitalism forcing the Russian defensive invasion of Ukraine.

  8. It is only a custom built prototype tank and no doubt will experience many
teething problems now and even more as mass production slowly gets under
way later, which is very normal. Putin’s real problem is that Russia’s “Russians”
are no longer being mass produced and his economy is wildly out of whack with
no really decent exports on offer to build prosperity except energy and military toys.
As mentioned, the beautiful tanks are not unlike the beautiful pre WW2 battleships.
Waves of autonomous jet powered drones hauling massive shaped charge ordnance
that is designed to strike tanks from almost every angle will be totally devastating.

  9. Hi Mike,
I know it’s a dumb comment. And I know that the world’s largest naval forces are all centered around battleships to this day because, ah, because, ah, yeah…… Oh yeah, because the next big war will be exactly like WWI. If we could just resurrect Jellicoe and Nelson, everything would be in perfect readiness for the next war.
No wait, I meant if we could just resurrect Patton, Rommel, and Guderian.

  10. So battleships were important in WWI. Who knew?
You can certainly find yourself in a war in which tanks won’t do you much good, but then again, you can just as readily find yourself in a war where only tanks will save you. The hard part is figuring out in advance just which it’s gonna be.
