In tonight’s entertainment en route to the tips a nimble-fingered fellow named André Constantino (I think he might be northern Italian, but I’m not sure) plays La valse à Pascale.

Remember, tonight is earth hour. Turn on every light , appliance and set your heaters on high. If you can piss off even one tree hugger, the extra cost is worth it.

Once again. When everyone around you is failing and your economy is stronger than theirs then their failure is obviously your fault. Good socialists always fail together. If you succeed then your motives must be questioned.

Seeing a lot of angst over Future Shop closing.
Oddly I have yet to see any one of the genius media pundits make the connection between the reduction in discretionary income and the increase in cost of living from new provincial fees levies and taxes.
I’m givin’ er all she’s got, Scotty. I think she’s gonna blow!
Thanks for the tune EBD!! I also have a couple of great instrumentals for all you tree huggers who may be sitting in the dark, eating tacos because you don’t want to turn the corn popper on. Meanwhile, David Suzuki flies high above the Canadian prairie in a Boeing 777-300ER that left Ottawa this PM and will land in Vancouver just in time for ”Earth Hour.” He looks out the porthole in the first class section, smiles and says!! ”My my, look at all the people who have their porch lights turned off.” Of course Suzuki forgot to calculate the emissions from the twin Rolls Royce engines that consume 1100 liters of JP4 every 100k. How many light bulbs can you power up with 1100 liters of JP4?? One US gallon of jet fuel will light up about 650 ordinary 60 watt bulbs for one hour. (At 100% efficiency.) Thus 258 US gallons will light up about 167,700 60w bulbs for one hour. So much for the Suzukian cult.

And another one just in case the lights don’t come back on!!

And on the subject of Earth Hour. Lizzie May wants a bit of help with an epic poem honouring this momentous occasion.

It’s sad that a lot of people have lost their jobs currently. But with smarter people shopping better and frugally, it’s not a surprise. Especially considering that Future Shop and Best Buy were just different sides of the same brand coin.
Yes. Got nearly 200 bulds on for the occasion

No connection whatsoever. This consolidation has been long coming ever since best buy took future shop over. My question is what took them so long? And my guess would be that it was waiting for many of not all of the store leases to expire.
Don’t forget the ever increasing minimum wage.
The new company will be called Future Buy.
The sad fact is that FS was the true originator of the brand and concept. I remember one of their stores I frequented at Kingsway and Willingdon, in Burnaby, during my BCIT days, scouring the best price for an XT computer, those were the days……
Anyways, I’m surprised the FS brand lasted this long, considering the buyout was in 2001. It always seemed to be poor planning that BB and FS were in the same mall, “competing” with each other. it was just a matter of time for this to happen. Damn shame, another American corporation comes to Canaduh, and badly overestimates their brand appeal.
With A&B long gone, Canada’s own retail tech successes come down to the local Chinese redistributors of PC products, NCIX, for one……..
